I have found that the best way to establish Chicory is to frost seed it into Oats and Purple top Turnips with Non Roundup Alfalfa. The reason for that is oats and Turnips suppress the Weeds that are a problem in Chicory.

Dr. Kroll has done great work, I have studied whitetail for over 40 years, walked alongside and been privy to their ways, diet, communication, development & more, studying them seriously as a non-acedemic for the last 24 years.. I'd love to get together with this gentleman and discuss collaboration that would lead to several study and educational projects ..I have so much I could present personally, but I think both worlds brought together would be synergistic ..deer are an elusive animal until you are sitting amongst them, as they sleep, eat, watch & discern, plan & exploit.. To learn to percieve and adjudicate in synch with them, and "follow the ways" of their ways is beyond any other experience I've had in life. This is a great video, I think a masterclass would be the next step to look for, great stuff! So much great work has been done, there is still more!

Sir, this is the best, to-the-point video I have seen anywhere on the web thus far. Thank you so much for this information. My son-in-law is coming over to help me clear out a spot for my first food plot. I will be using the recommendations you listed in this video for my first planting. God bless you, and thanks again!

Yeah, I feed deer Oat Flakes added with a little salt 🧂 in the beginning of winter. I also feed them peanuts 🥜, which they seem to love, so do foxes. Deer 🦌 also like apples, berries and grapes 🍇, which they also eat the grape stems. I read that deer corn feed is bad for deer and can cause severe diarrhea killing them within 72 hours, but they said that if you do feed them corn feed, that you should add nuts to it.

I've been planting a mix of red and white clovers, rye grain and tillage radishes. I plant in the fall and the deer love the radishes and eat them all winter. Come spring the clover completely takes over giving me an amazing green food source most if the summer. The rye grass will grow some too and offer shade in the hot months for the clover. I live an hour north of Chattanooga tn. I have such great results with this combination. The tillage radishes are great for adding organic matter and breaking up the soil naturally. I have tried chicory in the past and had zero luck getting the deer to eat it. I'm willing to give it another shot, what "brand" do you recommend?

Buck Forage Chicory.

Hate to say it but triticale is better for deer than rye and we plant both wheat and triticale and the deer will walk right past the wheat to eat the triticale until it gets a few freezes on it.

I'm not interested in baiting deer.

That's good, because the video isn't about baiting deer, it's about feeding them
