In this episode of Acoustic Guitar Build number 2, I'm completing the rim. I'll be installing the kerfed lining, side braces, and the end wedge. There's a lot to be done, so lets get busy.

A beautiful combination of wood with the body and the end brace. And thanks for the router bit holders I got from your store. They are perfect, as usual.

Thanks. I can't say I'm the first one to try that but I've never seen anyone show how they correct things if one side needs to be sanded more than the other. It seems to work really well and got both blocks sanded the correct amount.

Jeff, I am WAY behind on this build. I am getting caught up TODAY! Awesome job on the side bender and all the work that led up to this point!

The end wedge looks great. After removing the bulk of the wood for the end wedge, would a router plane help in leveling out the spot?

It absolutely would. I thought about that. I may need to try making one.

I liked your bending job design.. I do want to stress the fact that you're still making those side braces a bit thick You have to th ink about the function of these braces. They are merely to hold the sides on the event of a split . That will keep the spot from spreading.. So these things don't have to be thick at all . We're talking like 50-60 thousands would actually do it . And you can go thicker than that.. but the point it . The added weight does affect tone slightly and isn't really needed .. just look a a Martin of a Master luthiers guitar up close .. some will go think . But most of the top luthiers have them sanded nearly down to the size of shimstock . Because they are made to keep you from bending the sides in .. hope this helps .. someone.
