Seeing Mandy play these games actually got me really into the original opera and the knowledge I accumulated got me an A on a college paper and helped me win a trivia game. Thanks Ring!

One thing I find really interesting about Ring 2 is that the sci-fi space opera elements are significantly toned down, like outside of the Ish scenes and the ending cutscene there's almost nothing of the first game's European surreal sci-fi comic-esque world of the first. That combined with how the meta Ish narrative of the first game is almost totally thrown out, the radical change in character designs, the insane change to Alberich's character and just how abridged the adaptation of Gotterdammerung/Twilight of the Gods is and how abrupt the ending is (so much so that the titular Twilight of the Gods never even occurs!). I would love it if someone tracked down any of the people who worked on this game and asked them just what the hell happened.

Not sure what is says about me, but these streams are a total comfort watch for me. I’ve let them play in the background probably dozens of times and fall asleep to it sometimes. I should say I found these late too, it’s not like I’m remembering the original live stream with nostalgia. I think it’s literally just the Wagner and maybe the voice acting (excluding the crazies) being pretty calm.

I was there in the chat, god I forgot how frustrating the slide puzzle section was, he was so close like 50 times and then did the exact opposite of what he's supposed to do. Literally every slide puzzle works the same way no matter how big >first complete the top row >then do the leftmost column >then work your way inward from there, treating the next topmost row and leftmost column as if now they're the new border That's it, that's literally all it takes and you can do any slide puzzle in the world. We kept trying to tell Mandy that's how it works but his brain just turns off when he's doing one of these. It's just recursion. Also the part that's muted is his gf came into the room, he was trying to explain what he's doing, and in the middle of explaining the slide puzzle he inexplicably solved it. And he said she just looked at him disappointed without saying anything as he desperately tried to not look like an idiot in front of her as you hear him trying to justify his massive brainfart. Before you ask, no you couldn't hear her. At the very least I couldn't.

I'm still surprised how Mandy only got 1.6k viewers during the stream. His YT channel is way, way bigger than that.

Videos always get more viewership than livestreams, so the matter of timing is a factor, and many people prefer the edited, condensed format rather than what is effectively raw footage.

I can't ever get used to the way they animate the faces in Pt.1, it wasn't enough to make the mouth move but the whole face/eyes/everything has to contort with it like some weird blob. It's like they animated it using stop motion figures
