First time I saw your channel. Nice! Even knowing the original source material well, you are not a fanatic and can judge and comment on the show objectively, even when trashing this show has become mainstream in the youtube comments. A person that thinks freely, thinks well. Subscribed!

Thank you for the compliment! I definitely am still learning about the whole Tolkien world. The show has its issues for sure but there are things I like about it as well. I will say though the more I learn about the books the more this series is further and further away from its source material. But if I look at it as something separate it does help to continue on with the ride if for no other reason then pure curiosity to see where they go with the story.

Why does Galadriel love a toxic man? I don't know maybe because the show wrote out her actual husband? :) The shipping thing done in this show is so freakin weird.....Galadriel at this point in time should already have a daughter Celebrian, and her husband Celeborn has a significant role fighting in the battles defending Eregion :)...but that's what you get when the show butchers the lore :). Funnily enough if they ACTUALL had access to Tolkien's material....regarding the events of Second Age especially in Numenor...there would be room for 'Game of Thrones like' style politics and intrigues...I guess they even could copy the smallcouncil meetings from GoT hahah..... "Yet such was the cunning of [Sauron's] mind and mouth, and the strength of his hidden will, that ere three years had passed he had become closest to the secret counsels of the King; for flattery sweet as honey was ever on his tongue.... And seeing the favour that he had of their lord all the councillors began to fawn upon him, save one alone, Amandil lord of Andúnië. Then slowly a change came over the land, and the hearts of the Elf-friends were sorely troubled, and many fell away out of fear; and ... their enemies named them rebels." The Silmarillion, Akallabêth

I am currently doing a rewatch of both seasons and I missed it the first time but in the first season Galadriel does some quick exposition to Theo about how her husband never returned from battle...so I guess either he did or he went to valinor? so I'm not sure what they are setting up here. Probably a love story I hope not with Elrond that would be so strange. the choices they are making now I think mean more character would be removed and compiled all in one of the main characters...getting further and further away from the source material. What keeps me watching is I like the villains in the series. Galadriel is so far removed from relatable it's hard to be motivated to watch by her character alone. I am also interested in seeing ar pharazon's decline especially if we get to see annatar influencing his decisions.

@@rantsandreviewswithamanda Galadriel is so different than basically she is entirely made up character that is only bearing the canon one's name! She is the least likely to act the way she does in the show! Which is if you pardon , in my opinion....a garbage fanfic of low quality. The lore butchery goes beyond simply changing stuff and events,...they entirely mess up the worldbuilding, and basic logic of this world and universe rules!!!!! Celeborn obviously cannot die because he is there later thousands of years into the 'future' heheh...but the show making up the whole drama with him missing presumed dead?! Ehh the show has irritating tendency to make up pointless drama, that they later resolve this tension immediately on the course of next scene or just prolong it over and over, and over again (like in first season the whole will they or won't they mine mithril :)...and speaking of the dwarves plot...they seriously make them out of character there..they are Dwarves...they would LOVE mining mithril after discovering it :), dwarves are the most practical most commerce oriented people they would jump at the chance of trading it with other folk :). In my opinion if there would be any designated protagonist...it shouldn't have been Galadriel...but either Elrond or more crucial for the story/narrative Celebrimbor (if only he was portrayed right, that is in casting and other aspects..not a bumbling old man senile grandpa but an actual young ambitious, charismatic Noldor elf-lord, cast with an attractive actor that should reflect the elven phenomenal beauty!). Pharazon....ehh if only they have not wasted him with such dumb writing and the fact that they made him in the show into some sort of evil vizier....instead of Miriel's actual first cousin and military commander who waged the colonial wars of Numenor and was a charismatic, proud and arrogant young man which we would follow into his corruption and doom!!

I almost feel like this Galadriel is a completely new person only sharing the same name but not who we know in the books or in the LOTR movies. Yeah that moment was so bad....I just wonder where are we going with this. I am currently doing a rewatch of season 1and she. has a short scene with Theo where she says that her husband did not come back from the war. So I wondering if he is dead, in valinor? could he come back later in the series. But I have a feeling they are going to steer away from the lore that elves have one partner for life and she just ship her with someone else maybe adrondir since his romantic partner was killed off since that actress isn't coming back to the series.

ROP is not Tolkien. It's a generic fantasy story with Tolkien names for the sake name recognition. Even as its own story, it's dull and inconsistent with unrelated subplots, unlikable characters, lack of consequences, and despite the budget very cheap looking costumes and sets. As for Galadriel, this show does her dirty. Even by the time of the making of the rings in books, she was already over 2000 years old and was likely one of the elves in Middle Earth at the time who remembers the time in Valinor before Melkor/Morgoth was freed and began sowing dissent amongst her people. This is why she doesn't trust Sauron/Annatar in the lore. The other thing is she's older than both Celebrimbor and Gil-galad. They should be coming to her for advice and she wouldn't be falling for the toxic guy as she isn't an angsty mid-20 something with unresolved relationship issues.

Sometimes in the show I wonder where all this is going. I am currently rewatching both seasons and it's becoming more and more obvious how many scenes we are not getting to connect everything. I also wonder how are we ever going to get the characters to how they were represented in the LOTR movies. Yes 100% the props look so cheap for such a huge budget to produce this show. With all of that said there are somethings I do like about the show that keep me watching but the producers are taking some huge liberties with this adaption.

@@rantsandreviewswithamanda tolkien was meticulous in his details in how people and things connected. A small example is how Boromir mentions his brother at the Council of Elrond so when Frodo meets Faramir he doesn't just appear out of nowhere. In ROP we only hear of Durin's troublesome brother at the very end of the episode of Season 2. They easily could have mentioned this brother at any time in the first season and his potential problem but they didn't because these hacks are just making it up as they go along. It's soap opera writing where evil twins/siblings just appear out of nowhere.

I can see where you are coming from. Even on it's own this show blows
@rantsandreviewswithamandaАй бұрын
My hope with the next season that it gets better and that they put in more scenes to connect all the stories. so far everything feels a bit disjointed to me but I do enjoy the villains of the show. I would love to see a series that has to do with the valar and the rise and fall of Morgoth.

The idea they wanna ship Sauron with gladerial
@rantsandreviewswithamandaАй бұрын
This Galadriel is so far removed from the source material I almost feel like they should just commit and have her go all the way dark. But we will. probably be stuck in this middle ground where she is trying to not have feelings for him. at this point it becomes so bad its comical where she is falling for all the bad guys and can't give anyone the time of day that has any decency.
@arkadiuszalbercki2168Ай бұрын
Shes the most toxic person here lol
@rantsandreviewswithamandaАй бұрын
agreed! which is confusing since sauron is supposed to be the worst. She is almost on equal footing with the ultimate bad guy.
