I've always loved The Rippingtons since discovering them in around 1990 when I moved to Australia and had my own jazz radio show. I'm not a big fan of the "smooth jazz" sound, but they're some of the best exponents of it (I rate them along with Acoustic Alchemy) and I gave them a lot of airplay. Thanks for the amazing and inspiring music, which I still listen to on a regular basis. "Curves Ahead" is one of my favourite albums.

I never found any jazz group that creates many beautiful songs like The Rippingtons. Definitely my number one jazz band!

They’re an instrumental band. They are good at what they do, they’re just not a jazz band.

Great to hear them play some of the early songs: Take Me With You (from Curves Ahead) 6:00 One Summer Night in Brazil (from Tourist in Paradise) 7:11 Angela (from Moonlighting) 9:07 Morocco (from Kilimanjaro) 18:05 (Would be nice if the interviewer knew their songs and knew it was a medley). Russ and the Ripps are just an amazing band, great to have Brandon Fields back on sax.

Takes me right back to the early 90's when I discovered The Rippingtons for myself. I can truly say this is the only band that never had a song I didn't like. So many good ones from even back to Nocturnal Playground that was written & performed all by Russ.

EXACTLY ME ! 1992 to be exact, my friend lend me his one of Rippingtons cassette tape (forgot the album title) - fell in love since and never turning back. I was blown away with so many beautiful songs.

So glad that Brandon Fields is part of the lineup again. He is simply one of the finest saxophonists to ever pick up the instrument. Not sure he tours with them regularly but love hearing him here. Of course Russ is simply excellent in his compositions and performance; beautiful melodies and silky-smooth effortless playing. Loved his music since the late 80's and he always knows how to put a band together as evidenced here...great talent on every instrument making complex musical passages look easy to play. Some very lucky folks at the Blue Note getting to hear this band.

TOTALLY Agree...The Rippingtons wouldn't be the same without Brandon Fields, the vibes and aura of his saxophone sounds made me fell in love. As in Katrina's Dance, Lets Stay Together and Affair in San Miguel

Great musicians and nice compositions/arrangements BUT horrible keyboard sounds during the first song and poor overdriven guitar sound during the second song. I know that the Roland GR-55 is a comfortable and portable solution if you want to combine synth sounds, acoustic guitar modeling and electric guitar sounds but the amp modeling of the GR-55 sounds so harsh and sterile. I´m still waiting for Roland to come up with an improved successor.
