Have a lot of fond memories of this game, was really active on the official forums at the time. The game was very charming and I liked the flexibility of trying different weird builds centred around body type and gadgets. You could play a heavy character with a lot of mobility from the glider/spring boots or you could try a speedy character who acts like a quickscoping god using their smaller size to be harder to deal with. The weapons and gadgets all being "home made" like the rocket launcher made out of a pipe with cola bottles as missiles was rather cute. Shame the devs started to move away from it.

I fucking loved this game back in the day! My go to set was a light guy, camouflage, spring boots, and a shot gun. It was a blast to spring over a firefight unnoticed to get the jump on the enemies.

I used to really really enjoy this game, and I'd love to see it's gameplay mechanics revisited with an original IP. I think the reason it did so poorly is it was just the wrong ip, the gameplay was really really fun and it had a level of variety in potential loadouts that you could literally recreate classes from hero shooters to a crazy accurate degree. I remember I made loadouts to resemble all 9 of TF2s classes. Super fun.

Maybe they should’ve had the actual Batman or Joker as a sort of killstreak, allowing you to use their gadgets and combat skills and stuff, so you had all of the impostors fighting alongside the actual character

This just reminds me of the multiplayer component of batman arkham origins. You get to play as bane or joker on the side of criminals. I know the focus of the arkham games is single player but i would like to see what it would be like with its own game.

You get a 20+ killstreak; if you were on Bats, you’d get Batman, if you were on Jokerz, you’d get Joker. Either of the two have a large health-pool and get overpowered OSOK gadgets BUT they get tracked on the map, and provide huge swaths of points (to the match’s mode) if killed

I never wanted to ask my parents for the money for this game so I remember making four or five separate PlayStation accounts just to keep getting access to the 1 hour demo trial cause I wanted to keep playing. Gotham City Impostors used to be my game, despite this review, I truly did fill like I was playing a Batman game. I just wasn’t trapped in the realm of Batman. I could customize my character to my liking and still have a theme/feel of that DC Batman v Joker type aspect in the background. It’s a disappointment this game crashed so hard.

God i loved this game. Traded in my MW3 copy for this game back in the day. The Goofy Comic slapstick style fused with a Arcade FPS was perfect. But sadly what killed the game for the Vets (Or atleast for me) was the addition of the Witch Doctor and the issue of Megaphone healer + Heal Station Campers. Imagine being constantly healed by a healing station, Medic gun, and your own Healing kit or Body Armor. Kinda of a OP Stat. But witch doctor was a gun to solve the issue which shot a shock ball, Setting it to Stick or Bounce, dealing damage over time to folks in the way. The Witch Doctor become another issue cuz it was OP as hell. Plus it was a DLC gun.......Making it Pay To Win. Rubs folks the wrong way.

This game was fun back in the day. It could've used more content, and the maps could've looked more Gotham-y, but It was a blast, and had a fun foundation to build upon. The gadgets helped the game stand out a ton from games like CoD, and all of the options for your loadout gave the player tons of potential combos. Small body, skates, and a shotgun was probably my favorite, but big body, and glider was a really fun combo as well. I'd love to see a sequel someday, but I highly doubt that'll ever happen.

I used to be a top player in most games around 2012-2015. Never thought I would see anything about this game ever again since it got abandoned! One of the most interesting movement shooters I've ever played. I say "Movement Shooter" because almost all people used the wingsuit at the time and the meta revolved around rollerblade katana builds and flying snipers with models so thin you couldn't hit them. Depends on whatever you’re talking about PC or console and which time you’re talking about, early builds had a lot more variety and were more fun, the late stage meta (past 2016) was generally the very unfun burly, body armor/care package, Huntsman, jetpack/insoles build. Gotta say I kinda always preferred the console experience, as it was more movement based as it’s harder to aim with a controller. Also the beef on this game was amazing.

I used to put so much hours in TF2 back in the day when I was around mid-to-late teens that I grew bored with the game. In comes Gotham City Imposters for PS3, I knew I had to grab it & it was just enough like TF2 that I could jump in & play. But what I love the most about the game is the variety of customizing characters load-outs, especially the traversal equipment like the glider or the Grapple Hook, add that in with Freeze guns & ninja star launchers & it was a TF2 but a LOT more creative & to me, more fun. The online was decent back in its hayday on the PS3 & sad to see it delisted on Steam, now that I have a powerful enough computer, I’d thought to give it a shot, but what can ya do? The game deserves a second chance, maybe like a 3 player team with 4 teams or so (Batmans & Robins vs. Jokers & Penguins) with more crazy weapons & maybe even do a riff on a killstreak airstrike by calling Superman to strike an opponent down 🤣

I grinded so hard for the katana skins and had fun the whole time because the prerequisites were a decent challenge but not impossible like games now a days. I got all the skins for the katana and maybe the bow? then the only reason I couldn't play anymore is because the community died out within the year and a half. The customization was awesome. Imposters was way ahead of its time. There was not an FPS with that level of verticality and intuitive traversal mechanics until Titanfall, and even since Titanfall dropped FPS games have still struggled to achieve it, but Imposters had it all in 2012. It was so fun to bounce off the trampolines and grapple across the street or glide to the top of a van. So many fun loadout combos too. I loved being the second to biggest body type, with the shredder and rocket launcher, and the roller skates and a glider, it was absolutely brutal.

It was another one of those Arcade hits that really showed why having that less structured storefront really encouraged me to try this crazy idea. It was fun, cheap, and as someone playing a lot of shooters at the time, it was able to stand on its own due to its wacky, varied, and just enough gameplay. A blast to play with friends. However, that's pretty much it, it felt like an Steam/Arcade test level game that didn't have much depth outside of that it's fun and different to play. If anything, it reminded me a lot of TF2 in design principles. Which hurt it a lot because unlike CoD, the game needed variety and new content to enable it those design choices to stay feeling meaningful. Overall, it was a great time to play up to 8th Gen, but as everyone moved on, this game just stayed towards the back of memory as a fun time, but nothing that really had a reason to move with us.

This was and still is one of, if not my favorite multiplayer shooter of all time. Its just so fun and laid back and while its simple and easy to learn theres also a lot of fun stuff in there that not a lot of games did at the time. I would give anything for a remaster or sequel or even just for enough people to populate it to get a server whenever I want to play it.

It was fun for its time. I remember the times I was able to get into some games, and even carrying hard enough to earn some temporary online friends. It had so much potential, but as the video said, it had a LOT to compete with, and since it wasn't able to catch up and stay up-to-date without looking like a wannabe CoD with Team Fortress 2 vibes, it fell obsolete and wayward. Still brings back lots of fun, nostalgic moments though. Really wondered what exactly happened to it.

I loved this game, it was my enjoyment for the 360. Got to around level 500+, it was fun, corny and everything felt useful in the game. It was extremely unique, but I do agree the lack of content or updates was a major issue as even with my 1000+ hours the only reason it was fun was because of friends. Soon as they stopped playing and realising it wasn’t getting no love from the developers I too eventually grew bored of it too.

Friend of mine convinced me to pick this up on 360 back in the day and we enjoyed it. I liked being able to customize my character, limited though it may be, and I enjoyed being able to contribute to the team with my goggles even if I wasn't the best at the shooting. My friend and I became a tag team with me spotting with the goggles while he knifed everyone because that's what he does.

Hmm you know what'd be sick? Have a DC shooter like this but have different factions that work for Gotham's villains. Maybe even have it where you can call in the actual villain to help out or play as them. You could also have Batman come in as this powerful neutral force that attacks both gangs
