Well done. Except, there are lies being pushed out by outlets like Fox. Corporate media is now driven purely for profit. Grifting is now the norm. Like the prosperity gospel. Small groups are driving the narrative and lying to millions of people for money. Orwellian is a cliche but it’s not far off. It all comes down to greed. Money and power. Just look at how our society is being divided. Why are so many people listening to someone like Joe Rogan? Petersen or Shapiro? Fox? Etc..

Hes very much ahead of whats coming. my biggest criticism is his lack of self introspection to realize others have done the same as him. the fact theres zero critics in these comments isnt entirely good, as hes at risk of becoming as near sighted. recognizing the cycle is important, but the important thing is timing. the "new" elite need to get a proper footing before you can come head on at them for their ideas. he recognizes them, but he has to go after those. you can't do a 'no true scottsman' falacy of sorts by just saying they are hypocrites. the ideas must be proven to be untrue. not to meantion generalizations and assumptions must be made to even have a 10,000 ft above conversation. this video was incredibly stimulating, so while i am a critic of the critic, i mearly want to do exactly what he wants. have the boring, mondane conversation, not the click bate headline.

@Asankeket5 ай бұрын
"The truth just doesn't get the clicks." An excellent final statement. I find as the media landscape develops into the digital age, getting to the truth becomes ever more difficult, takes up ever more energy. Yet, there is one piece of advice I'd like to give to anyone who's genuinely interested and doesn't just look for confirmation: be wary of conformity. Any conformity. Especially the kind of conformity that results if you are drawn into a group with which you feel to have a rapport. If you stay honest to yourself, it never lasts. Always be prepared to be the dissident voice. At least in anything important. I agree with certain talking points of this New Elite, but I remain detached from them.

Even if you agree with them that doesn't mean you have the truth.The content providers who add show notes to demonstrate how their opinion may have been formed or confirmed at least are genuine in my opinion, and often are way ahead of the curve because they know where to look. The folks I pay most attention to for useful information are almost all banned from YT. and maintain a website to direct you to a media portal for their content. The really big names are rarely on top of things that I find out months and even years earlier because its not majorly profitable to really dig and flush out all the corruption.

You pretty much nailed it regarding US news. I’m now 50, but as a lad my old man wouldn’t allow cable into our home. We had channel 2, 4 & 5 plus 7 & 11. ABC nbc cbs and PBS…..until…about age 12, enter FOX. I noticed right away the news wasn’t the same. They creeped in at first, and grabbed me with the Simpsons and Married with children. Might as well have been adult entertainment, but I distinctly remember thinking “something has changed “. Great work my friend.

Think about the amount of Randoms on comments giving it their own 2 cents and how much less in-fighting there is on the comments sections of videos like these. I'm 28 now but when I was 8 on the internet and had an edgy older brother living in the middle of nowhere. It's morbid but after seeing what I saw in the old internet back then I definitely remember how people who are likely in their late 40s and 50s now talked to each other online. I think the internet is exactly like a part 2 of the printing press. I think all of these guys are all living on borrowed time. They can't market to an audience that is too poor to relate to. I could see Gen Z and millennials recreating and setting up new institutions overtime. I dont think a lot of us even want to take over the old organizations and the genie is out of the bottle on education. They can gaslight as long as they want but if they do not have imagination or creativity boredom and despair will steamroll them

The USA is fifty-sixth on the Press Freedom Index for a reason. 90 percent of US media is in 8 corporate hands, and 77 percent is in six hands. CEOs of all 8 donated to Trump. They love an ignorant public who proved their gullibility by believing tucker carlsson's "Covid is a hoax" meme after CDC told the media and red states that 80 percent of the 1st wave of Covid deaths were FICA pensioners and dying reduced entitlement outlays. 700,000 FICA pensioners refused vaccines that could keep them alive and died. FICA canceled their payroll tax hike which rupert and tucker were facing. The anti-vax memes were to reduce entitlement outlays and boost the mortuary services index to a 27 percent gain YTD in aug '21. America's eugenics of pensioners went off without a peep of concern. VT lost 10 per 100K to COVID, and SD killed 107 per 100k because 81 of those were FICA pensioners who needed to be put down like a South Dakota puppy, without a gravel pit, to reduce entitlement outlays. Aussies lost 10,000 to Covid with a 27,000,000 population. Florida has 22,000,000 and Desantis killed 87,000 with Covid and bragged about reducing entitlement outlays. Red states had a 900 to 1000 percent higher kill rate than states and countries that consider the eugenics of pensioners to be unsavory. But, church attendance and revenue spiked from all the funerals, especially in the pro-life states.

As a form of media youtube (& others) seems to be able to incentivise people to behave and think in a ruthlessly capitalistic manner, but without any capital. Titles like exactly that and others similar are over a decade old and were once even more widely used (you know, because stupid people).. My personal fav was "BANNED VIDEO" common way back when people used to make conspiracy videos about the illusive and powerful "Illuminatti".. And Bush/Cheney masterminding the 911 tragedy.. Then came the slough of clickbait reaction trigger titles for vids all about rappers and music industry ppl engaging in weird late night homosexual orgies deep in the California wilderness among the redwood trees with strange ancient pagan rituals and friend/family human sacrifices in order to advance their fame n fortune.. Surely much of that kind of content is deliberate misinfo/disinfo but also unfortunately there was plenty of it created by true believers and there always has and will be scores of half wits waiting to hop on and ride the newest and or most popular ready made conspiracy theory mystery saga's, the new form is echo chamber model tailored to popular bias like Q'anon. Sometimes I feel like I'm starting to understand and agree with Chinas intense censorship of internet/media. ;)

Cheney and Rummy asked for details of the PDB stating "OBL determined to use planes to attack buildings" when W, the most incurious POTUS ever (before trump) said, "OK Brownie you covered your ass, now let's move on." No questions about what kind of planes, how many, what buildings, how many casualties, nothing. Six weeks (or months) earlier a Cessna did a suicide crash into a TX IRS headquarters to protest taxes. W and others thought Cessnas were crashing into buildings on 9/11, and when Card informed W of the 2nd attack when he was at the school reading to kids, W asked "Cessnas", as shown in "Fahrenheit 9/11" by Michael Moore. Project for a New American Century was conjured by Rummy and Cheney after they worked together under G Ford. They wanted Clinton to attack Iraq after the 1st WTC bombing but he refused. SCOTUS denied FL their vote for Gore to put a moron in place who would go to war when they told him to. They knew he would try to stop the OBL attack if he knew they were commercial passenger planes so the TX IRS Cessna suicide mission was perfect. These are my conclusions after reading the transcript of the 9/11 congressional inquiry. I don't do conspiracies. Adam Curtis's "The Power of Nightmares" on BBC and KZbin was helpful in my conclusions.

The opposite is far less than that. With companies you can have other people fact check and their veracity is paramount. Single individuals can lie and distort with impunity and as long as they sell you an Us vs Them mindset, nothing will dissuade their fans.

@@thegovernerful Except the current mainstream media landscape is full of disinformation. Maybe not intentionally, maybe because of a strong deficit in viewpoint and class diversity. The current mainstream media is a pretty small coterie of like-minded individuals who have a similar class background, went to the same universities, live in the same cities and share a similar set of values. To diversify my information sources, I also follow several MAGA channels and several channels run by Bernie Sanders supporters.

You deserve millions of subscribers. Thank you for what you do. I have watched three of your videos so far and all of them are beyond excellent. May the algorithm gods be with you :)

So Im only at 1:32:33 so I may be proven wrong but you seem to reveal your own bias against people such as Rogan, Williamson, et al by focusing on that group and not recognizing the same sort of group think from the other side. I think this would have strengthened the point you seem to be making about how the initial diversity of thought the internet provided has degenerated into a sort of self-segregating idealism. What I am seeing, however, calls into question the validity and accuracy of the earlier segments in the video where you speak (truthfully, I thought while watching) of the history of media and what got us to where we are. One further point: calling out Peterson and lumping him in with guys like Tate is a red flag that one hasnt actually listened to what he has to say but rather gets information about him from the left's version of Rattlesnake. Overall, though, I am enjoying the video so far.

Okay, it gets a bit better from a fairness point of view. I suppose I was hoping for criticism of Pod Save but then I realized that they pretty much go along with anything MSM says. An example of what I see so far as unbiased reporting is the "Unbiased" podcast. She seems to tell it like it is without any sort of slant one way or another.

Yeah, this guy is a very devoted liberol. Or rather libbl panderer. It's not subtle, if he thinks it is. Why doesn't he make a video about so-called audience capture, and then use himself as an example, and how he carefully crafts his videos, which would seem to be of high quality as far as it goes, to reliably appeal to his libb followers. Every subject matter where there's ever an opportunity, or a necessity, to make a statement, and gently frame the libertariun, anti-wok set in an unflattering or condescending light, he predictably delivers. In ways that are entirely uncompelling, and to me at least, quite transparent. With his sort of faux knowing, thoughtful tone. I find him fascinating. Someone with his philosophy degree trying to make a go of it on YT in these trying economic times. And he needs them views....

@@Joeyjojoshabbadoo Libertarian and anti-woke are the Federalist Society's posture imposed on the SCOTUS with the last GOP justices who all want to outlaw dildos, masturbation, cunnilingus, and sixty-nine as made evident in their confirmation hearings.

To be fair, I feel like this video was mainly focused on the KZbin/major alternative news sources and most of those are right leaning. This is not a criticism, but the right has shown a greater ability for creating "official" sources of alternative news that the left has. I mean, sure, there are a few outliers, but most left alternatives aren't exactly professional in nature (Hasan, destiny depending on the day, etc.)

You've always made good work. But this video is a perfection of your craft and philosophy. I consider myself relatively well informed, but thanks to this video I feel I've gained a new complex and useful understanding of how the historical, technological, and economic pressures present in the evolution of news media shaped the medium into what it is today, and how those factors continue to do so. I'm so grateful for this new perspective, and have so much respect for all the work and care you have put into crafting meaningful videos with the intention of helping folks see the world more clearly, with all of it's complexity. I intend to donate to you as soon as I can afford to, especially considering what I've just learned about how the need for funding, and the type of funding, shapes the medium itself.
