Torino,River Plate and Vasco da Gama were the best teams in the 1940s. Italy,Argentina or Brazil would ve won the 1942 and 1946 World Cups if the war didnt happen

Torino's Valentino Mazzola was one of the best players in the 1940s along with Telmo Zarra,Josef Bican,José Moreno,Angel Labruna and Zizinho

@@fernandogomes2472 Stanley Matthews was in that company at that time. Stanley was still tearing Nilton Santos inside out at international level in the 1950s. Stanley Matthews is England's greatest ever player. Just a pity his peak age came during WW2. He still made a huge name for himself during and after the war but missed out on those 6 or 7 years at his peak age.
