That;s a myth. If it were true they wouldn't have had him in Jo Kwon's video or in the pre-debut trainee photos. Plus his contract was signed when the line-up was set six months before debut. It was just a smart promotional thing to get the media talking about them (which worked) and make them stand out.

When Bangpd was asked why V was not in the beginning, he answered that the company was afraid that he could be poached by other companies, which at that time were much bigger than Big Hit and because trainees can move to other agencies if they want. In the beginning V was the sixth member and Jimin the seventh (remember how in a letter to Jimin at bon voyage, V mentions how the CEO called him and asked how he felt about Jimin joining the group). But at the last moment, they decided not to show V until the contract was finally signed.

I didn't even watch BTS Word (Sorry)The words that Bangpd said were published in one of the U.S. magazine to reference a Korean publication that interviewed the Bangpd. It's a pretty old article, and if I can find it, I'll give you the link. All of the band members are special and unique. So I don't think they singled any of them out.

Yeah, idk what they meant by "secret weapon" either (I suspect it's bc his voice was really unique in kpop since it's so deep even when he was younger, so they wanted to cause a stir with the newest rookie group), but Tae wrote about being the "secret wespon" in his first BTS blog post. But I'm still unsure if that's why they decided to hide him or if there were some other issues. In his first vlog, he said that he was also making predebut videos (don't know if BH still has those; they've never released them) and was with the others when they made their videos but was out of frame. So, I think this means he was already set to be part of the group (just my speculation, of course). But he also stated he felt lonely bc he missed out on a lot of the group stuff (he was there, but no one could reveal it), like JK's middle school graduation. So, I wasn't really a big fan of the whole hidden member plan for that. I mean, I could understand if they were waiting for contracts to be signed and all, but I believe the reveal came when their teaser photos came out and that wasn't long before their debut (like the debut was a week later or so). So, it makes me think the whole hiding him was planned to be done even if there wasn't any other issues, since they didn't have a reveal sooner.

I’ve mentioned previously that I’m an “older” kpop fan meaning I got into it a very long time ago. One of the things about BTS that stood out for me personally when they came out was their lyrics. The songs and beats were catchy sire but it felt personal. I also was really really exhausted from the constant groups emerging that either felt too similar or were from the big 3. BTS was just different. I don’t know if it’s BECAUSE they were from a small company but you could feel their earnestness, you could see in their determination in their eyes. It probably sounds lame to some people but anyone else who latched onto them during debut with me I think you under what I’m saying. No I never could’ve imagined what they became, groups came and went so fast. But they were were so humble and so modest. They just radiated an energy that made you cheer for them. And then those dance practices came out and I think that blew a lot of people away. As they went on through hardships and mistreatment that made a lot of people dig their heels in deeper, cheer louder. BTS’ hearts were on their sleeves from the start, they were easy to adore.

I’m second generation kpop so I’m a little older for when BTS debut. I’m also curious how they became big. I remember reading anti articles about them when I was younger. It was a hard long journey for them. I think they worked hard and were genuine. I wasn’t a fan from the beginning. They proved themselves. They defied what people thought of kpop.

I believe it starts with their friendship/brotherhood and this is one of the big reasons they are successful. Obviously they are talented, but being a family like they are shows how down to earth, caring and not fake they are. You cant duplicate that. It has to be true to heart to work.

I think the secret to their success (outside of the obvious, talent, skill, hard work etc...) is ARMY. The way they connected with the fandom is just unreal. They started out with a mission to be a positive influence on the world through music and they've held onto that mission with sincerity and integrity and ARMY has become an unstoppable force that will literally try to move mountains for them. This series shows what JK meant to FESTA (??? I'm not quite sure) that RM really struggled and worried a lot when they debut (in their earliest days/years) as he was the leader of their group. I think he worries a lot because of those people who look down on them. He wants to prove that they were all wrong. His determination to succeed really shows in this series. Cuz me too, that what I will feel especially if my peers humiliate me in front of other artists and tons of audiences. So, I really admire his determination and courage. I want to say to him that He did a great job and I am proud of him. He carried those responsibilities at a young age. Now, I understand why Jungkook always thanks him and admires him the most.

ENHYPEN did that with Jake's birthday, too. Pretend bollocking by the staff/managers with the whole group on their MV shoot and said they were gonna only feed them plain chicken for dinner - sent all the members out of the room except for Sunoo and Jake for more scolding. The other members went to get the birthday cake - Jake was super surprised (and so touched!) because he was alone the previous year on his birthday as a trainee.

Taehyung was like a hidden card for BTS that's why Bang PD decided not to reveal him to the public eye. Having a unique voice tone and features, It's easy for other companies to cast him for auditions. Bighit rather tried to protect their trainee than to reveal him.

They really are so special and so unique 💜 I remember them working really hard on everything; so many struggles. Even though they felt like they had to prove themselves, they never needed to prove themselves to others, they were always unique and hard working. There was always something different about them; I knew the moment I watched Namjoon's blog post videos years ago. And I'm so happy BTS finally realized that they were already good. I'm happy that you mentioned the fact about the west being threatened by Kpop that's why they are quick to hate and judge negatively. You said it as it is, and people should understand that it's a fact and it's very obvious. I guess people are just afraid of telling the truth or maybe are in denial. I'm from the Philippines and I know that my country in particular have a lot of talented people specially when it comes to singing, but I don't think that we are the best that's why my loyalty and complete admiration is with BTS. I guess most people in the West tends to be too proud? like they cannot accept that there are other people better than them hence (as you said) they prefer putting the threat down instead of improving themselves to try and compete fairly.

I’m sorry but i beg to differ when you say Filipinos aren’t (one of) the best. We are a country that produces a LOT of talented people especially in singing. But sadly, we tend to focus on the looks, so the the really talented ones do not get the recognition they deserve. As for BTS, they are the whole package that is why they attract so many new fans everyday. Reality is, in the entertainment world, talent is not the only thing that counts. Having good looks is advantageous . But to be talented, good looking and charismatic, and be someone people can easily relate to is a sure recipe for stardom.

@@myblissfulneverneverland1230 I respect your opinion but just to clarify, I didn't say we not one of the best, I said we Filipinos are not "THE BEST" because that's where all the conflicts stems from....whenever someone says they are the best then others will definitely disagree. Every country or nation is definitely free to be proud of their own, but it's not always advisable to put down others just because you believe that you are better than them. BTS in particular never compared themselves to others or said anything about them being the best, well not that I know of but my opinion is based on what they've shown over the years. They have always been vocal about saying that they want to show us their BEST but never have they mentioned that they are the BEST AMONG THE REST, I believe this is also another recipe that you missed to mention. The genuine humility and sincere intention to create music not only for their own benefit but for their fans. This is what made them have the absolute loyalty of ARMY....not just their talent, looks, charisma or relatability...It's their total dedication to their craft and love for their fans. Don't get me wrong, I do respect and adore other artists but I didn't find the "recipe of stardom" you mentioned plus the ingredient I added from them.....as cliche as it sounds coming from a fangirl as myself, I'm yet to see any other artists who possess these other than BTS.

Hi DT…. I really believe one of the things helped BTS, were the bloggs they did, sharing behind the scenes and Run BTS. They allowed fans in the beginning to know them better, their personalities and sincerity. I so appreciate the fact BTS did this as it allows us now to learn so much more about them. You are the third reactor I have watched today, the other two are also on chapter two and I have I think another three that are on chapters 11 on. Others may ask why I watch them so many times with other reactors it’s because I love seeing the reactors response and hearing your comments and plus I learned something new that I missed the first time. Hi! I am a old fan of kpop since 2011 before become only ARMY and casual listener to other group. I know BTS debut stage cause at that time i was in one fandom of 2nd generation kpop group and always watch music show every weekend especially when my favorite appeared. I think other explain more about BTS. So I just want to answer some of your question. The MC when BTS debut that show were lee joon and thunder from the group called MBLAQ, the group has already disbanded. And the girls with pole dance is from group named afterschool, I think that group inactive and the member doing solo activities. Two of them i know that nana is an actress and gaeun will debut as actress too, and before that she also appear in Produce 48, like survival program for debut as a idol group. At that time their pole dances was really cool. I think i know will some groups and songs of kpop in 2nd generation. Thank you, correct me if I am wrong💜

Please understand BTS is different from other Kpop groups and BigHit is different from other idol music companies. These first few episodes can be misleading because it makes you think BTS management follows these guidelines the other idol members from other companies are talking about, but BTS and BigHit don’t do those things. Notice how when it is said idols don’t have a lot of creative freedom, you see Namjoon and Yoongi writing lyrics, or when it says idols have phone bans or something, you see the BTS members on their phones, or how when idols say they aren’t allowed to go outside the dorm, you see Yoongi walking around freely. It can be a confusing thing for new ARMY to make note of, but PLEAEE notice these differences. It is vital to how BigHit runs differently, and therefore why BTS is so different from other idol groups from the very start.

oh you didn't know the story behind V's entrance to the group? there's a youtube video that their CEO put out and talked about it. Pretty much he was the last member to be included in the group but he was so talented that they (big hit ent.) didn't want to debut him right away because if other entertainment co. finds out about him, then they'll be able to offer him to switch over.

As they said, there are hundreds of groups coming out every year. Anything odd might get you an edge. Having your trainees putting out free content before debut? Interesting. But having the trainees put out a lot of content before debut and then realizing that the whole time there’s been this silent partner? That is a mystery. That’s gonna give people something to talk about, that’s gonna give interviewers a new question to ask and make this one group out of hundreds maybe stick in your head. Be dramatic, create drama.
