Hmm when designing these watches did they start with a blank price of paper and think about what details they'd like to add. Or did they start with a picture of a Black Bay and think about what details they should change to avoid copyright infringements.

I don’t think it’s a copy at all. I think the Black Bay 58 may be the closest to the “ideal” design that most watch enthusiasts prefer. But that doesn’t mean that other companies won’t end up with something similar. If everyone likes a particular design, why not get as close as you can and put your own spin on it? I like these watches and I commend him for doing his own this with his own unique story behind it. Erin Go Bragh!

Let’s stick to reality of the industry. It is an incestuous industry where manufacturers take inspiration from each other. Rolex copied Blancpain for the Submariner. There are endless designs following Cartier for their Tank design and as for Aviator watches, well take your pick because they all come from an evolved design and that principle applies to all genres of design. The main differences come down materials and individual details. That about sums up the watch industry. If you disagree with this, just think about the pocket watch itself. Who copied who?

Actually, at least in the Republic, the official national color is not green, it's a very regal blue! Lovely watches. Passed along to a pal of mine from Belfast, living here in Canada.

The constitution does not reference any national colour. Regal Blue was used from 1700's while under British rule and does not reflect the Republic today. If there was ever any update to the constitution regarding a national colour, it would most definitely be green

@@OwlPadInterestingly I did not say it was in the constitution. And where is the rule that the official colour is listed in the constitution of a country? For sure, the de facto colour is green. The main colour used in state emblems is typically an azure blue, but I stand corrected it is not an 'official' designation.

@@Roddy1965 not being stated in any official documents, eg the constitution (which is the usual place for most nations to list it) means there is nothing official about it. In fact, one of the first things Ireland did after the 1937 constitution was paint all post boxes, telephone boxes and road signs green, apart from Dublin which maintained it's blue signs, which is probably the closest event you will get to it being marked as an official colour.

Yes it looks like a blackbay which is a copy of the old tudor which was a knock off rolex but with guild if you like the watch and the story I think it's worth it if not you'll buy the more expensive copy

Congratulations to them for fixing everything I hated about Tudor watches. At the end of the day, if people buy it then they will grow. At the end of the day mircobrands are growing and they are pushing the limits.

News flash. NO MODERN WATCH IS UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL. This is an incestuous industry whereby ALL manufacturers take inspiration from each other combined with market forces and the customers desires. If you think Rolex invented the dive watch, think again as they copied Blancpain. Who copied who when it comes to the design of the pocket watch? Nod to the wise, think before uttering such banal statements!

@@JamesAlexander14 who said I thought rolex invented the dive watch? There are plenty of watches that have drawn inspiration from history without clearly and directly copying the entire essence of a popular watch that is still on sale. The banality is all in these watches, so chill out!

​@@JamesAlexander14Unfortunately it's too much of a clone. The brand recognition designed into the watch is a second hand and a rotor, the rest is a copy of the black bay. Its also a bit of a rip off at a grand. The selita movement will cost 250 to buy in and the case will be covered at 120. It should be a £600 watch. The brand is relying on customers that don't know much about watches.
