What about the recognition of a Taiwanese state who have given plenty to the world, whereas Palestinians have taken our tax money and we have got nothing back in return.

Because you can either recognise the Republic of China or the People's Republic of China. Both governments agree that Taiwan is part of China and both governments hold the position that they are the legitimate government of China. It's not often that anyone says this but in this regard it's true - the Israel/Palestine issue is far less complicated.

@andybrice2711 9 күн бұрын
Hmm, I'd say Croydon's problems are perhaps more about corruption than immigration. Like Croydon was on a pretty good trajectory a few years ago, with decreasing crime and a well-integrated black middle-class. Then a series of questionable property dealings by the council bankrupted it.
@mikeparrott8304

@@andybrice2711 crime has not decreased in Croydon for 20 years regardless of how they manipulate the numbers. The cold hard uncomfortable truth is the mass stabbings are way above the national average and the home office being located in Croydon has caused an influx of migrants namley Im afraid Romanian gypsies who are responsible for gang violence. The black on black crime is also disproportionatley high, the black people in Croydon especially West Croydon into London are not middle class they are poor and always have been. The few middle class black, white and other ethnicities live in South Croydon which is a very small part of Croydon. The council and government have overpopulated Croydon along with as you say a corrupt Labour council. Guess what anyone with any sense moves to Essex or the South Coast. The way I see it, Israel has long behaved poorly re Gaza/Palestine. But (and this seems to me to be quite a significant 'but') the UK's influence over Israeli policy, the level of arms sales to Israel, etc. is really quite insignificant. It's 2024. T. E. Lawrence died going on a century ago. To an extent I can understand those who have relatives or friends in the region being animated by all of this but, really, that seems to be a minority of those who are. It seems that it mostly matters to two broader demographics: Muslims and, generally younger, left wing types. The importance that these demographics place upon Israel/Gaza just seems off to me. It's like they care because they've been told that to be part of their tribe they have to care about it. Why aren't there major protests and demonstrations about the conflicts in Sudan, or Yemen, where many of the victims (and there have been far more than in Gaza) are Muslim? Does it really make sense for someone on the left to vote for an independent, someone who focuses more upon Gaza than issues in the UK, rather than a Labour or the Green candidate? To me it just looks like illogical tribalism.

@@Crouchy232323 I’m not so sure Labour can stop them. I’m no fan of Nigel Farage or reform. In fact, I’m married to a Chinese woman and a party like that worries me. It was bad enough when Covid was around and everyone saw any Chinese person as an easy target and not being able to distinguish China from the CCP. In my eyes if we keep bringing in people from the outside and get caught up in their issues, then the country will deteriorate, which I think is the general idea for a small group of people. When I was a kid, I can remember Ann Diamond on Good Morning TV going on about Palestine vs 🇮🇱 and it got 10 minutes of lip service and it was onto something else. Now, this issue brings the country to a standstill. It boils down to acknowledging the things you can control and the things you can’t. 🇵🇸 vs 🇮🇱 can only be solved by both groups . They need to want peace and treat either other respectfully. No outside country and control that. Neither are interested in bringing it to an end, so why bring the UK to a halt and flood politics with the issue at the expense of the taxpayer? Little things like this get people’s backs up and fuel right wing parties.

The premise of your title is incorrect. I don't think Reform voters are either 'right-wing or left-wing'. They are a gathering of like-minded people who only see 'right or wrong' and *not* right wing or left wing. And this is why the political classes and media keep failing to see what is coming. The silent majority (those who understand what is right, and therefore acceptable) are waking up. I strongly suspect at the next election, which will almost certainly be before 2029, will see 'Reform' land a substantial win.

The “silent majority” of people supporting your racism and xenophobia is a myth, thankfully, as demonstrated by the election results, and your attitude is completely incompatible with left wing ideology, which espouses equality and is diametrically opposed to racism and xenophobia, so the “far right” description fits perfectly. The way you think is the product of your being gaslit by mendacious elitists via their stranglehold on the mainstream media, particularly the large majority of the printed press, and political grifters like Farage, into thinking your struggles in life are caused by immigration and brown people, thus deflecting your attention from the real causes of poverty and inequality that actually lie with the very people you support.
