my friend introduced buck-tick to me a few months ago and I have been completely enraptured by them! it's so sad that sakurai died so soon, the band surely could have done so much given how active they have consistently been. but the way sakurai's final apperance was him giving it his all for the band's fans is poetic in a way and definitely an element of a legendary rock band.

I've been listening to Buck-Tick since 2007, and I've always been inspired and left awestruck by their creativity and the dedication they have to their craft. The amount of influence they've had on Japanese pop culture cannot be overstated, and it ripped my heart out when Atsushi Sakurai passed. Buck-Tick is forever five members, and I'll love them until the day I die. RIP Acchan!

This made me cry... Buck-Tick is an incredible band with so many things to explore... They are such a complete group, even without Sakurai's presence. I'm very excited about the new album!! And as Imai-san said PEACE ✌️ (Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽)

Many of the more recent BUCK-TICK fans have got to see this short but well-done video of the history of the band. As their music becomes widely available through KZbin and Spotify, and on Amazon, I truly hope that more and more people discover them. Like so many Fish, I miss Acchan. His comments in the FishTank fanzine, as well as info about his beloved cats was always a highlight. You may be interested to know that Imai-san recently had an interview where he revealed that early in the formation of the band, they had their fortune told. He didn't reveal much about what was said, except that they were informed that Sakurai-san would be the first to pass away. That they are still a band, that they are not going to hire another member to replace Sakurai-san (who is truly irreplaceable), and that they will always consider themselves as having five members is truly amazing news that shows their determination to embrace change once again. Please look forward to their new album. They are going to perform their new material for the Fishtankers in December of this year (2024).

@@richmom Thanks, I am in Washington state myself! Trinity Blood ("Dress") was my first introduction to BUCK-TICK. It took many years to actually get more information and music that wasn't anime related here. I don't know if my information is incorrect, but my understanding was that Imai formed the idea for the band with U-ta, not Araki.

This video was recommended on my YT and I have to say I love it! It's so nicely narrated and very well investigated. As a fan I deeply appreciate when people take the time to even add some little details that are important like the fact that they had strict rules for a label, it was groundbreaking specially for a young Japanese group to stand up against being changed visually or musically. If I had to name a thing I love about them is that, their uniqueness, their rebel mind, punk-like vision that defies standards in Japan, and now even in their late 50s (one already in his 60s) they keep going and experimenting and renewing themselves but still remaining authentic, not trying to fit the norm.

@@richmom hey, anytime!! BT are my all-time favourite band! Been so since my grade 10 year of highschool. I was “the new kid”; brand new town and brand new school- getting heavily bullied and struggling to make friends- the ever so classic story. Then these guys crossed my path, and they became the first true friends I ever made there. I was especially taken aback by atsushi, His story of overcoming the Cycle of Abuse into becoming one of Japan’s most celebrated musical artists truly inspired me. I hadn’t been so touched by an artist’s lyricism and performance since getting into Queen with Freddie Mercury and The Cure with Robert smith!✨🌸♾️☺️ 😹😹 I’m a simple person! I see, I click- But your retrospective was very well written! I would absolutely love to see you tackle more of BT’s stuff in the future should that be in the cards for you!! Thanks a bunch!
