The song Tinfoil and Stone made me want to find out more about the song's inspiration, Clarence Schmidt, and his eccentic property. It's an interesting story.

I beleave that we will never see players like this again. And I am very glad that I was the right age to have seen them play live a few times. The world was so much better then. I miss that world.

What world are you referring to? When Norman was in his heyday?
@paleo522 жыл бұрын
@@haroldsteinblatt2567 Yes. That whole time of the 1970's. Norman and Nancy, the Seldom Scene,John Hartford,The Highwoods String Band,Roy Bookbinder. ,Doc Watson. Professer Longhair, and on and on. All those great players. And just that time in history was so much better then today. I would go back.

They are few and far between these days. You ever heard of billy strings?
@slimpickens8343 Жыл бұрын
@@paleo52 I agree there was some incredible music out of this era, but there are some very talent pickers of the new generation. Billy strings, Molly Tuttle, jake workman, chris luquette. Bluegrass is alive my friend!

I have listened to this album every day since I found it. Its inspired me to learn all of the guitar pieces in the album. Its challenging as I've never learnt by ear before and I'm filling in the gaps with what's available but there's resources all over the place it just takes a bit of looking. I know Norman's backing parts as well as the tune for devil chased me round the stump, still need to learn a few more "blakeisms" before I can really make it sound like the record but yeah this album is the best

Norman's songs always seem to tell a good story of some sort. The Gensing Sullivan is a good example -- with a bitter sweet, plantif ending. A lot of Woody Guthrie songs were in a similar vain. Many of Woody's tunes gave the impression there was hope to be be found if people recognized injustices and stood up for what was right for people. Norman's songs aren't exactly like that but tell of everyday people doing their best in life. I'd like to find this album on CD,if possible. I'm a big fan of these folks.

I only have it on cassette. I don't think it's ever been released on CD, which is a shame.

Thanks much - this album is one of my favorites ! I have it but no longer have a turntable -- and I don't think there's a CD available. The medley at 5:40 is outstanding.

Do you have an electronic file with this album by any chance? I've been looking for a CD and haven't found any. Thanks

If you mean do I have a CD of this album, then no I don't. As far as I'm aware it's never been released on CD for some reason. What I've put up here has been transferred from a cassette I brought many years ago.
