Some years ago in Paris during quite a very 'low' period of my life I had just bought some English papers on the Rue de Rivoli and as I passed the Ritz on Place Vendome I popped in hoping for tea. A very polite lady in charge told me that all the tables were reserved and it would have been better to book ahead. I thanked her and turned to leave when she caught up with me and touching my shoulder she asked me to wait and she would be back. A few minutes later she was back and told me that a young man would come out of a side door and I was to follow him. I did and he took me down the corridor to the very private hotel pool area where they had set up a table on the balcony overlooking the pool with white linen and silver, just one table. I was stunned and ordered tea and cake and sat writing and reading for about 40 minutes before paying and making my way back to the foyer. I asked to speak with the lady in question and when she appeared I hugged her and asked her 'why'? She said that she saw something in my eyes and knew that she had the power to change that so she did. Her name was Marie Claude and I will never ever forget her.

In 2017 during the Christmas season my husband and I were traveling to the UK with our best friends. I reserved months in advance a Christmas Tea for us all at the Ritz. It did not disappoint. The Christmas decor was stunning. Everyone was dressed up and it was so festive. We had a wonderful table in a corner of the Palm Court. There were Christmas Carolers by the piano. This is one of my best memories 😍

Thanks to you and your sister for the vlog. I’ve done the Ritz Tea in Paris three or four times. The Paris version is completely different than the London Tea. The Paris version is a “French Tea.” That means it is only cakes/sweet foods, not savory foods. The setting in Paris is much calmer and you are not rushed at all. If you decide to jump on the Eurostar to Paris for a day trip, make a reservation to have tea at the Ritz Paris.

Many years ago I was in Paris for a while and invited a visiting friend to the Paris Ritz for tea. It was, as you said, different from an English tea. We ordered "deux quarts de champagne" (two quarter bottles of champagne) and some cake. As I was walking back to my apartment on the left bank I heard this most angelic sound from Notre Dame. The Pope happened to be i Paris and a choir was singing from the cathedral. Unforgettable afternoon.

Our sons treated us to Afternoon Tea at the Ritz for our 40th wedding anniversary. We loved it! We had strolled around London, including Oxford Sreet which we used to love visiting as newly weds. It's not quite as exciting nowadays! After the tea we walked through Green Park(i think it was Green Park!) and stood outside Buckingham Palace which I had never seen and then a long walk back to find a train home. London is fascinating city. We recently celebrated our Golden Wedding a bit more low key with a family lunch, low key but lovely.

Btw to book for the Ritz Christmas afternoon tea you need to email them or call early May time. Also they start releasing dates on their online booking system from around early to mid May time! Also I completely agree, the experience did feel abit rushed, we were in and out within an hour and a half. We did notice this and it did slightly ruin what was meant to be such a special occasion.

I thought the Ritz Afternoon Tea was going to be better. I been to Afternoon Tea at the Waldorf Astoria and Mandarin Oriental in Washington DC several times and the quality of the sandwiches and sweets looks to be fancier and very gourmet like. And probably tastier. And at the Mandarin Oriental the portions were larger, especially the scones. Also think each person received about 5 different sweets at the Mandarin. However the setting and decor at the Ritz looks so beautiful and elegant. Definitely nicer than the two hotels in the US that I experienced. So if I ever make it to London high on my must do list will be Afternoon Tea or two.

This vlog of your afternoon tea 🫖☕🍰at the Ritz is really wonderful. Indeed, a very good choice! The Ritz architecture and decoration are amazing and perfect for any celebration. By the way, you and your sister Natalie were amazingly gorgeous! Everything was really perfect! Just missing a Rolls-Royce Phantom V or Bentley outside the hotel entrance waiting for you and Natalie! It is always so cool to see you two together commenting and interacting in your vlogs. I wish you two a wonderful FRIYAY!😀

Oh Hannah, this has got to be the best afternoon tea review I have seen! I am especially interested because I’ll be in London this summer with a girlfriend and she and I have talked about doing the Ritz tea. We may well still do it, but now we’ll know what to expect! By the way, we have done the tea at Claridge’s and were not disappointed with ANYTHING. It was all lovely and not rushed, and the wait staff was lovely. Thank you for doing this vlog!

I agree with your assessment of this tea. It's an adventure for which we were happy to pay.

Thank you for this... I'm planning on hosting my own tea (just me and my bestie), so hope it turns out well. Regarding dressing up, though, I'm glad they have a dress code and don't allow people to look like they rolled out of bed. I say we need to bring back a bit of formality. FFS, it won't kill us to not look like slobs for a couple of hours. Oh, no, heaven forbid you have to wear a TIE or a JACKET. Now I am totally with you on uncomfortable shoes though. You both looked very nice!

I’ve watched this video a couple times. I know Hannah’s job is in fashion but she is very good at editing these videos as well. Especially the beginning of this video with the music in sync with the shots of the Ritz. Very well done Hannah!

Your blogs are always so fun! As an American, I would totally splurge on this but I don't think if I lived in London I would.

I have been to the Harrods one which was nice despite me getting a fine going there for doing a right turn where there were no right turns allowed!! Really enjoyed your one and nice to see your sis. The piano guy at Harrods really annoyed me as it was so loud couldn't hear myself talk.

The afternoon tea has always been overrated in my opinion, the venue is absolutely stunning and well worth a visit. You both looked stunning! 😍

Thank you so much Hannah for taking us along with you to The Ritz!! You both look amazing, and I certainly appreciate your honesty. When I’m next over there an afternoon tea is one of the first things I’m going to have, mainly because I’m years overdue for my “clotted cream fix”, lol. Joking aside, I just love all the places you go .. you always entertain us so beautifully ❤️ See you next week xx

This was really good!! I put cream first because I think it’s a bit like butter … butter/cream first then the jam
@jamestaylor3811 Жыл бұрын
Great video Hannah! When it comes to cream tea, I always put jam first then cream (not sure which county method that is!) as I find it easier to spread the cream on top of the jam rather than the other way round.

Jam first is the Cornish way; cream first is the Devonshire way. ☕🍰

I'm from Devon and we do cream first - it is the sensible way

Show us how you take your tea please. Cream? Sugar? One lump? Happy you did take the two cakes at the end. I thought you would. 😅 I would too!

Hi Hannah and Nat, the goodie bag to take home is also sweet to share the cakes with your nieces. A little treat for them too. I am enjoying you both as a team ranking your tea experiences. You both looked lovely and looking forward for more to come!
