I once got my son to join me at Ritz tea when a friend was too unwell to keep her booking. As we sat down I said Happy Birthday to my son as we sat down. Staff must have heard, because before coming home a procession brought a beautiful boxed cake to our table for my son to take home. It blew me away!

In my opinion as a retired head chef , The Ritz has one of the best head chefs in England along with Raymond Blanc , John Williams head chef at The Ritz would be one head chef I would have loved too have worked under , one of the Old School still rocking out amazing food in the Kitchen, he has my huge respect 🙏

I was blessed to have TWO friends who had mothers who went all out for Christmas and were extremely talented cooks/bakers/crafters and could both put on a tea with cakes, scones, pastries like nobody's business. On beautiful tables with Christmas Trees lit and decorated and warm candles. As nice as these hotels are....they don't beat home. Both ladies have passed on now but Thank You for the MOST magical warm loved-fused Christmas's ever.

As a Brit living in San Francisco, a wonderful Christmas tradition is to take the children to see the matinée production of the San Francisco Ballet’s wonderful interpretation of Nutcracker, and then go to the wonderful, iconic Sheraton Palace Garden Room for afternoon tea. It’s a magical Christmas experience that generations of children have experienced and passed down to their children. Your episode made me homesick for the UK and how it celebrated Christmas.

I had tea at Claridge's two weeks ago. They did not pour our tea until we finished our champagne. The food was delicious. (We could also take our cakes with us). They also gave us a little box of Claridge's fudge to take with us. There was such a lovely scent in the hotel. They said the candles are available in their very small gift shop, so of course I bought one. It was a lovely afternoon! Next time I will definitely have tea at The Ritz. It looks so elegant.

The powder room decor was not tacky, it was lovely period theater. It helps of visitors and guests slow down and appreciate the atmosphere for what it is meant to be, delightful, period and refreshing.

Totally agree. I don't know if the powder room has changed since my visits, but I remember taking mumm-in-law down there and enthusing about it. We took mum along after enjoying our previous visit.

I had lunch at the Ritz last year in December, a real treat. I’m from Australia so wearing a coat in December isn’t required, worth remembering you need some cash to tip the cloak room staff. I thought the bathroom was gorgeous.

I was a waitress in a rather upscale restaurant in the States. My only advice to you would be, that the wait staff are normal people with normal wages that live in normal or middle-class housing. Do not be shy or embarrassed to ask them anything pertaining to your meal. They are there to answer any questions and if you think it's your first time you are not the only first timers there. The wait staff doesn't mind. I enjoy your videos very much.

This is hugely expensive but is a serious treat and ecperience if you can afford it. Popping into the Rivoli bar for a cocktail before or after, depending on what time you book makes it even more special. The staff are amazing and you will be treated the same regardless of wealth and class. The staff are lovely, especially if you engage and are nice to them too.

Hi Hannah, Thank you for such an informative and fun video about your experience at the Ritz! Because of your video, we booked a Festive Tea for two at the Ritz. We had been gifted a voucher for the regular afternoon tea but were able to use it for the Festive Tea by paying the difference. We kept checking their booking website for last minute cancellations and there were many!! (Although they got booked again quickly). We loved our experience at the Ritz, it really lived up to it's hype! I took your advice and asked for a table around the edge of the room and got exactly the table you sat at! Just for everyone's information I'm vegetarian and they offered extra sandwiches that were different to the main menu inc pesto and avocado, hummus and roasted red pepper, artichoke. They offered us more sandwiches and cakes and even offered for us to try extra teas! We had the last slot of the day at 19:30 so there was no rush to leave. We took our time and left leisurely after 2 hours. The staff were amazing and I would go as far to say that this is the best high tea I have ever had! xxxx

In April I took my 30-something yr old son to The Milestone Hotel for his first afternoon tea. Champagne afternoon tea was 90 GBP per person not including service fee (12.5%) of $22.50. It was actually a perfect place for a first timer - kind of old English. The food was excellent. We were able to take whatever sandwiches and cakes with us that were leftover, but we didn't get 'refills' as it wasn't part of the package. I'll be honest, we have a few places in Southern California that do afternoon teas for a less price AND they are all excellent. The most money I have spent for one (without soup or salad) is $57. Please come and try them here! I always enjoy your afternoon tea videos Hannah!

It is indeed called a ‘crust’ on the clotted cream, it’s a result of when the cream is baked, yes, clotted cream is baked! By looking at the colour of the crust, you can usually tell if the cattle were pure grass fed or grain fed.

Thank you for showing London I fell in love with. Historic London. I am not a fan of the modern buildings and skylines. I love everything British including traditional and classic furniture. As an American, we were influenced by the Victorian Christmases and before. I prefer than kind of Christmas. My fathers favorite city and he passed in 2001. He got me so into London in the 80s and 90s abd before. I was born and raised in Brooklyn. I have not been into Manhattan for 9 years or more now living in suburban NJ now. 80s and 90s my mom used to love going into the Plaza like so many people to use the bathroom to see the Lobby. After 911, they stopped people doing that. Had tea at the Saint Regis that I loved in NY. Fun. I had Tea in London before. Memorable a few times I had Tea in Bath in the Regency Room. Love Tea. So elegant and lovely experience. I went to dinner at the Ritz once with my parents. Before going to the Theater. Memorable. My parents both loved London.

I really enjoyed your video, as I love going to afternoon tea. I'm from the US (Pennsylvania). When my daughter lived in Chicago, Illinois, she took me to afternoon tea at the Drake Hotel as a Mother's Day present. It was fabulous. If you get a chance to go there, I highly recommend it.

I live in Australia and given Christmas is in the heat of our summer, it’s never going to have the same effect as a snowy Christmas, no amount of tinsel will ever give us the same experience as yours. I have had tea at Fortnum and Mason a few times and I love, at least in my experience, that they don't rush you and you can eat yourself sick if you choose, they will keep filling the trays until you ask them to stop. The waiter explained all the different teas to us and it was really lovely. Don't know if they do anything special at Christmas.

My first Tea at the Ritz was back in the 80's. And was suitably impressed with the service and ambience. My second time was in the 90's when I treated my friend for her birthday. She was thrilled, but I thought it was not as good. But she was happy so that was OK. My third time was with my daughter for my birthday in the 00's. I undertook a survey of other venues: Dorchester, Park Lane, etc. And finally decided my favourite overall was the Savoy!!. Fascinated to hear the price of Afternoon Tea - a wee bit more than I remember paying! Will have a look at your February visit to compare. Loved the walk round the Xmas decorations. I drove through by coach last week but was not able to see all the side streets. Thank you.

Love this video. I live in the US. My Mother was British. I have been to the UK twice. My sister and our families try to go to at least one British tea every year. This year my daughter and I are hosting our own for the family. Your video will be an inspiration. Happy Christmas!

This made my afternoon! I sat here having my Fortnum & Mason Royal Blend tea and enjoyed every minute of your lovely video. I have been very lucky in my life to have been to London 10 times but never at Christmas, so this was fun! Thanks so much for sharing London with us! My mother was English and this made me think of her.
