I travelled to the Ritz-Carlton Maldives in Aug 2021 for my Summer holiday.
This was a fabulous experience as it was my very 1st time staying in a Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Generally said Aug in Maldives is considered a rainy season but I was super lucky to have sunny days for most of my stays although it was a bit windy.
Here I will share how my stay in the Ritz-Carlton Maldives was.
First, I will talk about room types and how they are different from each other.
Basically there are 3 types: ocean pool villa, lagoon pool villa and beach pool villa.
Each type has their own unique view.
Ocean pool villas, which I stayed at, are facing East and the outer rim of the atoll. You can see in some distance very dynamic waves coming from the open ocean which you can check with my movie.
Although waves are dynamic in distance, water sounds around the villas are rather quiet due to the breakwater effect of the atoll.
Since ocean pool villas are facing East you can see the sunrise in the morning.
Water colour is light turquoise blue. The colour will be at its best around noon onwards til 3pm when the sun reflection is gone and you can see the colour clearly.
Price is lowest among all villa types.
I personally like dynamic wave sounds in the distance.
Lagoon pool villas, on the other hand, have much quieter water sounds and deeper turquoise blue colour.
As they are facing West you can enjoy the sunset.
Normally prices for sunset villas are slightly higher than other villas. This applies to Ritz-Carlton Maldives as well.
If you like to see sunset and deep turquoise blue you definitely want to choose Lagoon pool villas.
But as there are more boats passing by in front of lagoon pool villas (of course not too close and have some distance) than ocean pool villas those who like to have more privacy might want to choose ocean pool villas.
Beach pool villas have some benefits other types of villas don’t. Of course one of the benefits is direct access to the beach. This makes you feel the room is much more spacious than water villas.
And for a family with kids beach pool villas are a much safer choice than water villas.
I also stayed in a beach pool villa during my stay. I will show a movie shot at each villa for you to use as reference for your next Maldives trips.
The Ritz-Carlton Maldives interesting facts:
Trees and plants in the Ritz-Carlton Maldives were imported from other neighboring islands when they were at risk of being cut off due to agricultural development. Fari Islands’ three resorts, Ritz-Carlton, Patina and Capella, are rescuing trees and plants from other islands.
Those who stay in the Ritz-Carlton Maldives are able to go to Patina, another new resort in Fari Islands, for dinner. At Patina port, you will see a mysterious spaceship!!
There is a Japanese restaurant called IWAU(meaning ‘celebrate’ in Japanese) . The Chef is Maldivian but he worked as a chef for 8 years in Hokkaido, Japan. You can enjoy authentic Japanese foods there. I myself as a Japanese enjoyed his meal a lot.
Fari Islands actually consists of four islands. Three are already stated ones, Ritz-Carlton, Patina and Capella, and the fourth one is called ‘Fari Campus’. Fari Campus is designed solely for staff members working at these resorts. So far around 750 staff live in Fari Campus. It is said that there have not been any dedicated facility for staff members in resorts in Maldives. So this is the first of its kind and is expected to contribute to improving staff mental health and wellbeing. This positive news was one of the factors that made me choose Ritz-Carlton for my summer holiday.
There are so many other things I want to share in detail about my Maldive trip but somewhat difficult to do it in here.
