I was just there a few days ago and HOLY MOLY. I found agates bigger than my fist and a chunk of petrified wood bigger than my face haha

Im glad to see the whole family seems to be doing well, and even kip as well. The time at the river was nice and the rocks were plentiful after the floods! The pet wood is always my favorites, and the jasperized piece was a stunner for sure. That blue agate was absolutely amazing! The blue is so unusual, you can see that blue glow a ways away! How beautiful! It was lovely to see your daughter! She is adorable. And Kip is as cute as ever. Hope you had as much fun as we did watching you!

I thought all those circular marks were cracks from impacts tumbling in the river. It's part of the agate? I dunno lol. Man the yellowstone is such an awesome spot for river gravel rockhounding!

We have a pretty good system down for rock hunts if I intend to make a video. Often we just go out as a family and enjoy the rocks and the river without the camera.

It's okay to clean the rocks off in the river, unless of course you're too far away from it. Are the agates more clear around the Billings area? Always nice to see the classic Yellowstone petrified wood, so distinctive from anywhere else. I like the agate at 8:38 best. Thanks for taking us to the Yellowstone today.

I love these videos, I amused myself through you in our winter. I missed many of your latest ones so really appreciate you stating the date of the video since I have now so many to catch up on. One question. Do you take all your “treasures” home or do you just admire them and leave the ones that aren’t extra special? Thanks for these videos as they are such a bright spot in a rock lover’s day.
@AgateAngler2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy, thanks for watching. I am glad you enjoy the videos. As to your question: No, I do not take all of them home. I really only take the special ones or ones that I think will tumble nicely or be worth working on.

Made my first trip to montana last month. It got me into rocks after finding a few awesome “montana pudding stones” that the fishermen seem to be all about. Do you know which ones i’m talking about? I could email you a pic.

Great finds! Where does one begin if they want to find agates there? Like is there a park where you can find them?
@AgateAngler2 жыл бұрын
If you want to find agates on the Yellowstone you just have to get out onto the gravel and start looking. Obviously the less picked over spots require research and more driving/walking, but any spot with gravel holds agate potential.
