Its an Ammo Container from a German 10,5 cm leFH 18 (leichte Feldhaubitze 18) it means light field howitzer 18. The condition was incredible for 80 years old piece ❤❤❤

Redhed down below identified the shell as a propaganda shell for leaflets. It is probably empty because it's in the packing. They unscrew the base and stuff it with leaflets, and it has a time fuze you set to pop it open at a altitude you want over target. Cool find and id the burster and detonator are removed from the fuze completely safe and suitable for display

No, there are various safetys built into the fuze, inertia and spin are used to arm the fuze, the amount of spin required determines the distance from the weapon that the round will detonate when it hits something.
