Such a beautiful portrait of a man and a place and a moment in time.

What an absorbing capture of one of the great characters of the Blackwater. A person who lives on a river knows it intimately. I didn't catch fish with Connie, but he showed me where to 'capture' Kingfishers.

He reminds me of my grandpa. He loved rivers, water in general. Memories...

Hello Connie, remember me? You helped me catch my first salmon 13lb 49 years ago. My father and I were staying at the lodge and Martin put us with you. We fished the Bride and had a lot of sea trout, but back before the pub closed. We took 8 salmon for 12 days. my fathers name was Frank and you and your pregnant wife visited us in kent uk. I still enjoy the memories being up a tree trying to get a fish to take a bunch of worms!

Thank you so much. He was a great character then and seems to have done so much. Good for him.

Very nice video, shows a side of fishing few can appreciate. Maybe the best 16 minutes of fishing without showing the catching of a fish!

This really brings back all my memories I had with Connie over the years I fished the Blackwater including my fellow Dutchman Xaf who he mentioned. Hé thought me all I know Aboutaleb fishing salmon!

Love the video and can't fault the man's sentiment, I just love being by the river. My passion is lifting up the stones to see the nymphs, then replacing them carefully. But where would a day on the river be without a dipper, a kingfisher or wagtails? Much the poorer I would say!

Nobody should own a river or be able to tell someone else they can't fish in it.
