Heys guys. Never expected any of these videos to blow up like they did. Didnt even know the extent of it until I got to my buddies house again this morning. People are asking how they can help and many people have asked for my own personal Venmo to send money. I don’t want a dollar from anyone. If you have money to send please find a go fund me or something similar that really touches your heart and help those people. I can’t bring it upon myself to only post one when there are so so many out there. We still have everything we went into the flood with, our house was on the hill. Help the people who lost everything. will make another update video soon as I see now there’s a lot of people who want to see it. We got an update and believe we were wrong about the neighbors animals. We were told at first none of them made it by a guy who was helping the guy clean up. It didn’t make sense to us because we never saw not one ever try to get to higher ground away from the water. We were told yesterday though that he was up before the sun and loaded them all up and took them to a buddies house where they are all safe. I am forever sorry for getting that part wrong. I can’t reply to all these comments but we all appreciate the kind words more than you can imagine. I understand that one day it will all be cleaned up and back to “normal” as it can be, but it hit me like a ton of bricks when I actually realized where I was standing in that one video and knowing what it was supposed to look like in my head just tore me apart.

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE: Whatever you do READ every letter of those FEMA contracts they are requiring people to sign in order to get the whooping $750.00. A FEMA Inspector turned whistleblower just came out and stated the contracts FEMA is making people sign is actually a LOAN not Aid, If they dont pay that money back in 12 months the government can seize their property. Never ezpected the Nolichucky River to get like this. I live near the dam in Greene county TN, and my wife and I went to look at the flow over that dam around 3pm Friday, when the flow was ~300K gallons/sec, which is normally pretty outrageous. We had no idea that during the night, that the amount of water flow had swelled to ~1.3 MILLION gallons/second, which is nearly twice of Niagara Falls. FYI to people who maybe never dealt with flooding before. You think you can take your boat out in that and be ok as long as you avoid obstructions. Nope. One of the biggest issues is all that fine silt suspended in the water. Sooner or later it will clog up your intakes and your engine will burn out. Then you become just another bit of debris at the mercy of the currents.

So sorry you all are going through this. And yes, in VT with Irene in 2011 rivers and streams totally rerouted some pretty much empty now except if a flood again and new ones carved out. Some of the dams may not need to be replaced due to that and I'm told they should have been removed decades ago. The US has so many dams like this that are dangerous and really serve no purpose anymore.
@muscleman1253 ай бұрын
yeah it's actually kinda crazy when you realize how many dams we built in this country on seemingly every single river that wasn't wide enough to ship cargo up and down. So, so many people live on or near a river that is dammed, and probably don't even realize it because the dams could be hundreds and hundreds of miles north of them, in a totally different state. And if that one damn 250 miles north fails, all that water is gonna flood the entire river valley all the way down to the ocean or lake.

Recommend that everyone get at least a few roadmaps and keep them available, too many people have become completely dependent on cellular service these days and have lost the ability to even use a roadmap. If you’re not familiar with the area you happen be in when shtf having a road map like Rand Mcinally which covers states could help you, and even a compass to orient the map with magnetic north when it’s dark or overcast, cloudy and you don’t know which way is north, south east or west. A lot of people have never done this but just a little time with a compass and a map will get you knowing which way to go. For all the locals that grew up and know where they are and which way is best , that’s even better. I have actually done this working in Fresno the first time before cellphones and it was so foggy you couldn’t even see the sun, there were no shadows. Take care.

What I should have clarified was that when all the cell sites are down, no matter where you are if you are not familiar with the area a regular map can give you some information on possible ways around or back, better yet is to talk to the locals on what is best. I’m near Ft. Bragg and the outer bands were going over us with tornado warnings but it was not anything like what hit the hills. At this time of year I am always scanning for the latest disturbance in the Caribbean and Atlantic. Hope the best for all those that have been affected and pray for those that are going through this tough time. It's the unfortunate part of living in areas that flash flood and normally don't see a lot of rain. I lived briefly in Virginia and I saw people building in spots I knew would flood if they saw a good rain in the early 2000s. Here it often floods and we see 30 plus inches of rain in a couple days but since it's all sand and mostly flat there's no flash flood risk. This is heart breaking. A local Class 4 river I kayaked for many years had a family of ducks on it decades ago that I called the whitewater ducks. They would fly down to the river at the start of the rapids and when they got to the first long pool they'd just fly back up and "run" the rapids again. If they didn't like a big hole or wave coming at them they'd just fly over it or dive under it. Made me wish I was a duck because I knew just how clumsy and unaclimated I must look to them in a kayak. I witnessed those ducks "running" the river at levels that would make me say no way.

@emoo23422 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think people forget that stress and lack of proper nutrition in a crisis situation make it really difficult for women to breastfeed. Also, some babies refuse to latch on and it’s not the mom’s fault or for lack of trying-another thing that some people refuse to recognize, particularly men. Luckily, it’s not all or most men/people, otherwise we’d be more screwed than we are. Formula is a great resource, especially in a time like this. Babies are in the most danger, overall, largely due to actions and situations that result from misinformation. There are too many people with minimal knowledge about how the female body works, making judgements and assumptions about women/what they choose to do or not do with their bodies. And it’s bloody weird to try to shame women who are trying to care for their children and literally just survive during an event of vast devastation.

I am on a Florida coast. We get storms all the time, but never raging flash floods. Bless you folks and I am praying for you, besides the material and monetary aid we are sending you. No one else cares about us...certainly not washington.

@@Cloudy_Berry79 You do know there is a difference between a storm surge and a downstream flash flood? Well, probably not.
@Cloudy_Berry792 ай бұрын
@@williamcarl4200 yes I know there's a difference, but the end result is the same.

I used to live in White Pine TN, and I used to hunt arrowheads along the Nolichucky and French Broad when I was a kid in the 60s-70s. I bet you will be able to find some after it clears up. I wish I was still young and strong enough to walk the riverbanks again.

Horrendous raging flood waters. I live in Wisconsin and I follow some AT thru hikers on KZbin, so I'm familiar with the mountain towns that are so devastated. I'm also familiar with Nolichucky from the hiker videos. So tragic to see all the destruction. Thank you for the video. Prayers for all affected.

Exactly 66 years ago, another Hurricane Helene rocked the Carolinas... Hurricane Helene (1958) is one of the notable hurricanes that originated from the Yucatán Peninsula and intensified into a hurricane. Storms forming directly over land in the Yucatán Peninsula itself are relatively rare, as most tropical cyclones typically develop over warm ocean waters. However, some storms that pass over the Yucatán Peninsula from the Caribbean or develop in the Gulf of Mexico do strengthen into hurricanes after forming or moving through the region. uh huh uh huh

They meant to spell it Hellene. It's biblical.

If u think water 💧 is powerful, u should study and see how powerful winds is. But God favorite force is fire 🔥 asteroid impact is also more powerful then the entire ocean. Don't forget, earthquakes is the strongest 💪 disaster on earth.

One of my ancestors had land right on the Nolichucky. I wonder how that land has done and who occupies it now. I located it a few years back, and there was a wedding venue across the river at a curve. My heart goes out to the families there. It's hard to watch the river still rising.

I looked at a house once that I loved, really wanted to buy it, but it was beside a river so I made the smart decision to back out and keep looking.

I am originally from Florida and sure I`m use to hurricanes hitting us there but i just live right next door in Hawkins and my sister lives in Greene county and we never expected this either. This is defiantly a once in a 1,000 year storm.

Believe me I knew it was the worst thing I hope I ever seen when I saw it but it had put into more perspective about just how bad it was after reading all the comments and seeing several people from Florida say they have never seen anything this bad before

Just goes to show you how easily the canyons can form so quickly in places where they thought at first it took thousands of years. Enough water can literally move mountains and form new. It’s just so very rare to actually witness it happening in real time. It is just so sad to see all these beautiful places,ppls dreams and lives washed away. Praying for all
