Me and my husband just went on an excursion to Chicken itza and this is so accurate! The human sacrifices were drugged with fermented honey among other things to feel little too no pain, they found many human remains as well as gold in the Cenote and you can see the place where they’d Bathe them right beside the stone table where they would be sacrificed above the hole. They used an obsidian axe or knife before being tossed in. Most were 14-24 years old, but they found newborns and elderly remains as well. Super interesting and crazy to see the old crime scene in person

You're right, but that doesn't mean he's not a bad guy. The man was a pure sadist. It's one thing to believe and practice belief. However, when it comes to the deaths of innocents and those who were undeserving, he did not bat an eye. Even if it puts his own people in danger. You can't deny that he enjoyed sacrificing his people, and took any chance to do so as well as trying to convince Tulio and Miquel into doing so. I understand his reasons, but to accept them is to spit on those who did not deserve what he believed to be a righteous sacrifice. Not even his own people seemed responsive when the chance to sacrifice came, despite the fact they grew up in the same culture as well. And it is because of those beliefs that they did not intervene when sacrifice was "demanded."

@mooseolini14472 жыл бұрын
No, he's not doing what he's been taught, at least, not as far as the sacrifice is concerned. "The beginning of a new era, the dawning of a new age, demands sacrifice". This quote, followed by the reaction of the crowd and the chief, tells us that this is new behaviour from Tzekel-Kan, considered abhorrent by the onlookers and clearly takes them by surprise. What seems to be the case, is that Tzekel-Kan has misunderstood old prophesies, misinterpreted them. "So dawns the age of the jaguar", "As it is prophesied, the age of the jaguar will be written in blood!". Tzekel-Kan seems to have read or somehow divined the prophesies relating to the new age of the jaguar they happen to be entering at this time. He seems to interpret a general forecast of a time of bloodshed, as a commandment to shed blood himself. Since we never see any prophetic texts, we don't really know how much of this 'misinterpretation' is actually Tzekel-Kan's fault. It may not be a misinterpretation at all, for all we know. All we know is that, at the same time as an age of great bloodshed is predicted, the Spanish happen to be entering the Americas...Which will lead to a time of great bloodshed.

Miguel after the ball game says exactly that But Tzekel-Kan believes that Gods needed human essence, blood to sustain themselves The Aztecs believe that sacrificing to the sun god helps the Sun keep going across the sky, keeping it fighting agsinst the Darkness El Dorado in this world seems to be a city state that hid itself from the other Mesoamerican Empires and believe themselves the center of the world But they share culture and religion similar to the other Empires, believing in similar Gods Only Chief Tannabok doesn’t seem to want to sacrifice his own people, and see Tzekel-Kan as a rival taking control of city away from him As for the Age of the Jaguar, Aztecs and Mayans believe that the world was created, destroyed and reborn in a series of ages Tzekel-Kan was expecting great destroyer gods to come and destroy the old world, and El Dorado would prosper as the center of the new world Although it wasn’t just devotion, it was also about comtrol, as Tzekel Kan portrayed himself as speaker of the Gods, making himself a near godlike being himself He used those laws and traditions to give himself power, not just politically but magic as it seemed powered by ritual and sacrifice So he is a religious despot that was put in his place

What Miguel and Tulio did to save that guy proves that not all thieves/con men are actually bad people. They are con men but they still have morals. They dont harm people and certainly dont kill people. And seeing someone about to be sacrificed, along with the offer to sacrifice an entire team of players, is where they draw the line and have to step in. A majority of petty thieves that are arrested arent actually bad people. Many of them are going through rough times and are desperate. Do they still need to spend some time in jail? Yes but they shouldn't have to pay for it their whole lives.

THEY WISH TO BASK! TAKE THE TRIBUTE TO THE GODS' TEMPLE!
@ThuyCawlEemThaBlaydRunna2 жыл бұрын
I just realized,is the chief a man? Sounds so much like a woman,looks like a woman,but that would mean she’s bare-chested which would be unusual for a(mostly)kid’s movie.
Even if it would have been causes suspicion, I would have said that I´m not a god who is interested in living sacrifices as I respect life and the normal course it takes. I do wonder for what reason some cultures did these kind of tributes like for example killing a human and what made them believe it would appease the gods.

The Aztecs and Mayans believed that the universe was sustained on human blood and required human sacrifice to maintain cosmic order. Interestingly, the supreme god, Quetzacoatl, was averse to human sacrifice. Human sacrifice was practiced in many civilizations included Mesopotamia, Rome, Greece , China and among the Celts and Vikings to name a few

Well originally Miguel and Tulio were supposed to be a gay couple. So that might give them points with liberals.
