In this episode, I am first conquering the Swartberg Pass, an amazing mountain pass, constructed by South African engineer Thomas Bain. A quick hop into Prince Albert go stock up on fuel and admire the little town, and I ride back towards the Swartberg Pass to get to the road to 'The Hell'. It's the only way into the Gambaskloof and the only way out. This is my Ride to Hell.

But watching someone ride this type of terrain makes me nervous and yet it is natural when confronted on your own bike. It always amazes me what we bikers put ourselves and our machines through. You’re stained and bravery impress me, I’m so glad that I have found your channel. 🤙🌏🌍🌏

Die Hel is short for Den Helling (A steep sided valley). When you have a look at the valley on a map, you will see that it is a unique valley formed within two ridges of a mountain range. I am sure you have been told the history which, being a nederlands speaker, you will find fascinating. The valley was settled by Dutch farmers in the 1830s and because of the difficulty of access and with no wish to be governed by British laws or pay their taxes, the community developed in their little paradise for over a hundred years. The result was a very old dutch dialect which was sadly lost when families started leaving the valley in the 1960s. Indeed it is the english use of the word, The Hell, which belies the fact that this valley was a paradise where everything grew and the community needed for very little outside of the valley.

Thomas Bain and his father, Andrew Geddis Bain, were responsible for most of the construction of most of the mountain passes and a great deal of the main roads throughout South Africa in the late 1800's. The list of their engineering feats is quite remarkable, considering most of the work was done by horse and cart! It is wonderful to see you riding so many of these passes that I rode many years back, it brings back my happy memories of beautiful places. Thank you! You are an incredibly accomplished rider, and should be very proud of your skills! Onwards!! 💪

Hi Noraly, just wanted to say hi, I came across you’re video’s by accident, and feel your incredibly beautiful, and brave, you tackle your adventures head on,and with ease, I have recently had a tumour removed from my spine, which has left me quadriplegic, it’s incredible imagining myself on the adventures with you, the scenery is blinding as we say here in the United Kingdom, especially the meer cats in your video, they are fascinating, I would love to hear from you some time, although you have many followers, and adventures to conquer, safe riding sweet, stay safe and well, 😘🌈❤️🇬🇧

I was raised in a little town in Canada called Hope , I lived out of town beyond Hope. Just beyond where I lived was Hells Gate. Just to add I was born in Mission. so I too was close to Hell .

Have been dreaming of my first Harley for the longest of time now, but your channel kinda changed all that in a span of just 2 days, now my mind is slowly leaning towards the dirt-road bike. Just amazing:) I'll surely be using this channel as my tour guide in the near future to explore my beloved country. Thank you!

Bad road, amazing scenery, burned trees, kudus roaming around, nice cottage and no Satan. It turns out hell is not that bad after all. I just LOVE South Africa!

Wow, such a beautiful landscape and what an epic journey! You are so lucky to be able to see all these great places and the sights in South Afrika. It is a great and exciting place for those who can wander and the motorbike is the way to do it. Best of luck. Stay safe.
