I like Belle a lot more than I was expecting to (and I expected to like her a lot). She gets a lot of hate for being Evan's OC but she at least serves a purpose. Part of me wishes she could have stayed "evil" for a little longer but that would have dragged out the story too much. Well, maybe in a future arc. Just like Charmy, Belle exists to suffer.

Honestly, this might just be my inner Eggman fan talking, but I _really_ hope Eggman gets the chance to fight Starline. I want Eggman to pop up in one of his old mechs and start ripping through the controlled badniks, to the point where Starline himself has to pilot whatever new model Eggman was working on, and just getting beaten. We rarely get the chance to see Eggman properly go head to head with an equal villain, so it would be criminal not to take advantage of this, and establish just how effective Eggman can be at fighting people other than the heroes. I also hope Starline doesn't just _get away._ Personally, I think it would be better if he gets caught by Eggman at the end of this, and receives an... Overdue punishment, let's just say. If this punishment is particularly harsh, it could really inflame a strong hatred for Surge and Kit, since "If they hadn't betrayed me, I wouldn't have to suffer this!" Give these three a solid dynamic that's different enough from the obvious Eggman-Sonic-Tails parallel.

U.F.O is all like "I CAN SEE THE FUTURE!!!!!" Because battle of Eggman vs Starling, went exactly like that! Eggman was piloting the Egg Emperor from Sonic Heroes while Starline was in the Egg Robo from Sonic Lost world. And yes, at the end, Eggman beat the guy down with his own hands, Giving us all a reminder that Eggman IS the dreaded Dr. Robotnik.

Belle has started to grow on me and I like her alot more now. However I hope after this next arc that Belle and Starline should not be used for a bit. Even if I love Starline and he is my favorite new character from IDW, 2 or 3 arcs based on Eggman or Clutch (Or Deadly Six or Mimic if they wanted) before bringing them back and use other characters would be nice.

Belle is already confirmed to be in Issues 51 & 52 (most recent solicited), but since her character arc is finished for now, I wouldn't say no to her taking a back seat in Tails's lab unless they need her powers. 100% agree on wanting to go back to Mimic -- lots of untied thread there plus it'll put focus back on Tangle & Whisper.

Issue 48 revealed that Clutch was also older than he appeared. I didn't know Clutch's age during his debut arc, but I definitely didn't picture him as being an old timer. Now to be fair, Evan Stanley actually did reveal that Clutch was older than Eggman back in September 2021, many months before Issue 48's debut. As for Issue 49, I appreciate that the Sonic Advance 3 badniks were there at the beginning pages~ Advance 3 was my first owned Sonic game so I hold a lotta sentimental attachments towards the GBA game. ...Also Sonic can eat something other than Chili Dogs, I don't believe it.

Sonic Franchise need side villains like clutch in the games. He fit perfectly to antagonize with the Chaothix a classic ganster vs detective. Besides it's easy justify the presense of a illegal arm dealer near any of Eggman's plans and activities as a provider for him, but at the same time he don't have a real reason to confront Sonic directly. Sega put a lot of rivals and antagonizt but nearly all, either turn in a hero/antihero (a ally) or die. Besides these budnicks are a really good adition to the franchize in general, and with the bateries the whisp can simply charge them, inclusive use them as a hideout or defense, the same for the small animals PD: the idea of armor "badnick" was done in Archies with the Eggman of the universe of Scourge.

Yeah you can't have Mr Tinker and I don't want him to stick around, but at the same time I love this and it's touching to see. It's as if Mr Tinker won't leave because we got Belle out of him, she caries his hopes, dreams, and spirit on. This is a touching heart warming way for them to move on, to set up Belle as the spirit of Mr Tinker to exist while Eggman does too, set up another rivalry, Belle/Tinker against Eggman.

I really enjoyed both issue 48 & 49 bc besides my love for the chaotic, for issue 49 I really loved 49 Issue where Sonic Gave a bit of closure to Belle. He may have not saved Mr. Tinker but at least he helped his daughter.

While I do think IDW Sonic is good, this brings up one of my main problems with it, the lack of humans. Central City is the supposed capital of the United Federation and Ian has confirmed they're going by the one world original canon in the Bumblekast, so the lack of humans is very odd and makes me long for the days of Archie where we had both humans and mobians appear.

For the record, Sega makes a lot of these decisions. This follows the game cannon, so going off of Forces and how Sega has been handling Sonic’s world since just after unleashed, you probably shouldn’t expect humans to appear in Sonic game or alternative official media outside of the movies.

You do realize that there might be two Central Cities, right? Like how there are multiple cities with the same name on real life? The one here is clearly based off of Sonic Battle's Central City, not so much Shadow the Hedgehog's Central City. Plus, as Ian has said, there's no narrative reason to have humans present as of now. When something comes along that calls for humans, there will be humans. Sonic and Co are likely just residing on one of the islands dotting the sea that can't be seen from orbit. Probably the same one from Forces.

@@Michael-bb5dd Even if were to disregard the Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, the wiki and Amy's apartment that all suggests it is just one city, that doesn't change the fact they don't even show in flashbacks where they were present or show up in regards with at least Rouge, one of GUN's main agents. So there has been a small but still narrative reason, even though isn't required as the general human population's main purpose in Sonic games is to be background characters. Sonic and Co. are indeed likely on one of the islands just like in Archie (South Island being the most likely bet if I were to take Forces absurd map seriously) but that didn't stop the Archie run from having both. The more likely answer is the one Jodon purposed.

The one that just goes "Sega does as Sega says" and doesn't even actually try to come up with an explanation using the material we have right now? 2: Chronicles is Non-Canon. 3: Amy's apartment is in Sonic Battle's Central City, the very same one I said was likely the one IDW is currently using for the city on the island they're on, and not the one from Shadow the Hedgehog. So, I fail to see what your point about this is. 4: The wiki has just as much info as we do. 5: There have been no flashbacks thus far that would require having humans in them. Nor have there been any need for such flashbacks. Again, the reason they're not currently present is because there's no reason to have them present at the current time. Because where the story currently is set is clearly NOT human territory, or at very least not a Mobian area with some humans. I get wanting to see humans, but it's very clear that they're not in an area with humans. So, again, what is the issue here?

According to Adventure 1 (the first ever mention of her apartment not Battle) the apartment is close enough to Station Square to regularly buy groceries from and build up a friendship with the antique shop owner. 4. Yet they don't subscribe to your claim of there being two Central Cities, heck they don't even bring up the possibility. 5. Yes because its not like humans played a important role in A2, (which was confirmed to have happened via flash back) or have any connection at all to the members of Team Dark. The issue is that outside of Eggman they are treated like they don't exist at all. Not even when something would logically effect them. Do you seriously think the Metal Virus, something Silver confirms destroyed his future, did not make it out of the islands when it infected flickies and is not something GUN would care about? I'm not saying the book is bad, it is good but this is a flaw.

One thing that I've noticed that I'm loving right now is that we've established that a lot of the Wisps not only decided to stay on Sonic's planet, but have also become just as popular of pets/friends as Chao. There have been a lot of scenes where the random people have Wisps. They could have easily just had them have Chao. But they didn't, because Wisps are very cute. I appreciate this.

Mr Tinker’s note makes a lot of sense, especially with Tinker confessing that Starline’s logic of him being Eggman made sense. Even though Tinker is an alternate personality to Eggman, he isn’t stupid. He is super intelligent, and even _he_ can confess to someone like Starline having good logic and evidence for his claims and beliefs. Even Eggman respects how intelligent Starline is, to an extent.

Yeah I feel the creaking could've been avoided, Espio for those that don't know or remember was the only one capable of sticking to walls with his triangle jump in Sonic Heroes permanently until you make him move, unlike Sonic and Shadow. The smoke bombs, no offense, either is bad writing because he's always aware of his surroundings all the time, or... is showing just how devious and dangerous this opossum actually is.

I knew as soon as i saw belle, i knew i was gonna like her. and issue 49 confirmed that for me. her design is so unique compared to the other robots it not only makes her stand out but also let her be different than those robots, she has advanced ai but shes also seems like a complete human (er-mobian? idk the term in idw) being. it somehows feels natural. Evan made a very likable OC imo and i feel like people arent also saying that enough! OC's always have this weird negative stigma in sonic nowadays but i think IDW has done them very well. (most likely not the case, please correct me on this:) whisper and tangle are one of the best ocs and imo best female members of the sonic crew in years not named blaze or sally, tho amy has gotten better and better with each comic release shes in. All in all im excited and i hope IDW doesnt slow doen in quality anytime soon.

Not gonna lie, with Belle going into the middle of the action, I'm curious how Eggman will react to her. Also, her reaction to Metal Sonic. I also want to see a scene where th err y come across a bandit factory and Belle uses her and tails mechanic knowhow to give her a combat upgrade.

I had no idea imposter syndrome was a thing (well, the story), so when the next issue came out I was pretty confused. Not long after though, your video came up. If anyone was keeping track of the whole series, it would be you! Silly or not, the Chaotix story was in its own way From the remarks about what the problem could be to the way Espio was found, this one-off was intentionally cliché in all of the best ways. You made it clear you weren't going to cover every detail here, but can we just appreciate that Starline wanted poster on the cover? ("THIS WEIRD CREEP IS STILL AT IT! STOP IT! NOBODY LIKES YOU!!!"). Still, I can't believe you skipped over Vector's rapping. Even with where it derives its humor from, that sequence made me burst out laughing. Though Tails and the others did mention trying to fix Badniks the same way as Motobud, it was surprising to see them actually try - immediately. How much AI work is Eggman putting into each one of these? This issue definitely worked, but since seeing the cover I wanted little more than to see Sonic just Spin Dash for a while and take out hundreds at a time. Depending on which game logic one considers it could be even easier - just spinning in place as they ran into him. (With that in mind and the increase of Eggpawns, this also brought to mind activating Super Sonic in front of that one infinite spawner back in Lost World to get ko achievements. Good times.)

While at this point I see how people can feel the Tinker stuff is laid on a tad think at this point, I do think this works as a very good closure for belle here and a like that they used Sonic in this way , encouraging her to keep moving forward. its very emblematic of his character and Belle taking that step is very satisfying. The fact Motobud was the one Tinker worked on is very satisfying payoff, especially when you notice the Sonic Bush it trimmed earlier in Trial By Fire.

One thing that frustrates me a lot is Central City being portrayed as a city solely populated by a bunch animal characters, even though Central City was supposed to be one of the many civilizations populated primarily by humans. It served as one of- if not the main setting in games like SA2, Shadow and Sonic Battle. They should've used a different city in this arc, to be entirely honest because while it's cool to call back to older things in the canon that SEGA has seemingly forgot about, it ends up ruining something that was already established. I get that the whole two worlds conflict was an issue for quite a period of time but still, it's better not to potentially conflict with such a significant setting in the Sonic universe if IDW is supposedly canon; since all that does is make his universe all the more confusing.

The Chaotix issue was fine, its a good thing that they plan on building up Clutch as a villain. Personally I think he should have started off as a major criminal, don’t really get why he started off so small, but this at least means we’ll be getting an another major villainous presence… I hope. Issue 49 was an honestly nothing story and even by lead in standards it really felt like filler. Also I am really hoping that this is the last that we see of Tinker because at this point we are well aware he isn’t coming back and continuously bringing him up really just feels like Belle has no other real story potential beyond it. Like we get it he is “dead” and Belle is sad about it. Both stories are kinda meh, but hopefully 50 will deliver on the build up that has been done so far.

Remember: Clutch is from "an older generation." It makes sense that he'd know how to play it slow. Do things in the shadows that doesn't prompt much notice by heroes, and then present the grand scheme when all pieces are in position.

I like to think that even as Dr Eggman he still has a bit of a soft spot for Belle. He seems very unwilling to destroy her and keeps saying to his minions that if they find Belle, to bring her in intact. Or maybe he just appreciates the A-grade pun in her name.

clutch the opposum is proably one of my favorite evil sonic comic characters so far, he is not exactly the strongest villain, but he is cunning criminal and his sleight of hand skills are so powerfull that he can steal from a ninja
