Beautiful hike. It is actually pronounced like Chee-uhm fyi :)

Thx for your comment... However, that's incorrect. It's a sh sound not a ch sound. The word "Cheam" comes from the Halq'emeylem word "schi:ya" (wild strawberry). If you want to be absolutely correct, you could call it Lhilheqey, as it was named about 9000 years ago by the Sto:lo.

@@edsgarage001 oh wow, I did not know that. I have only ever heard it pronounced the other way, including the local folk. Thanks for letting me know!

@@x0mbigrlyou’re actually right, it’s a Che sound

Yeah no it's not... You can literally find the correct pronunciation online. Or... Just look at my previous response

Great to see this.. was a bit extra concerned about the final forest road after watching an older video but it seems some of the washouts have been fixed up and are now rollable

Yep, pretty easy to get up there now

Summited Mount Cheam as a teenager in the early 1960's. Back then you had to go through Cattermoles (probably not spelled right) property west of Bridle Falls. Took our group 4.5 hours to summit. (we were all young). So to me, you cheated. LOL just kidding. Views were definitely worth the hike.

@@edsgarage001 my dad went up in the 40s, had a piece of fabric in his workshop. Met his climbing partners Don a couple of years ago, neat pictures he has, no trails back then probably, I was born near Bridal Falls, saw that Mtn. to the point of so what, hiked in from the Chipmunk logging site once.

Unless there's another plane crash I don't know about. The one you're thinking of is Mt Slesse and they're about 26 km apart

Apparently a cessna slammed into the rock face of of Lady Peak above and to the right of the col between Cheam and Lady. That wreckage would have plummeted down towards Jones Lake.
