It will show 100% for a long time cause real capacity is not shown capacity, it's bigger, imagine it as a spare capacity.
@edsgarage00119 сағат бұрын
Yes, there's a hidden buffer. The point I'm making in the video, is that if you were to Believe the EV haters, I should be looking at replacing the battery soon. So, considering I still had the same available kwh of capacity as new, then whatever the degradation, it was low enough to stay within the buffer. That vehicle actually now has 172000km on it, and only shows 1% loss of capacity.

@@edsgarage001 We had our first electric car in 1997 (Clio) which has a lot of problems then in 2004 a saxo which we sold in 2019, only 2 battery modules has been changed in this period. They were NiCd pack subject to memory effect. Lithium cells are kind an holly grail next to our saxo technology and even then.. we loved our saxo, quiet, economic, perfect for the city. We will now buy a used ioniq 38 and very happy with the idea. Thanks for your informative videos..!
Just found out a couple of days ago that my new car has this feature. I am trying to gather up courage to try it out. Watching a couple of videos where "car -guys" are rather shaky as they do the same, made me understand that being a bit nervous about it has nothing to do with being over 70 :)

Great video. Take my like and sub. Pisses me off Hyundai cheaped out on the seats in the N Line. Cloth? Really? MSRP’s for the exact same cost as a Luxury and has cloth seats. Even the preferred trend has HTex seats. This is essentially a Luxury with some badges on the exterior at the cost of leather seats. Why they didn’t just make it a package upgrade on the Luxury l, like they did with Trend on the preferred is beyond me.

2 press to unlock. This can be used as a safety feature. From outside, putting fingers into handle twice opens all doors. One time and only driver door opens. Keeping all other doors locked may prevent someone entering car uninvited. Same with the options of door unlock upon park and engine off. We had all doors unlock upon shift to Park. Until I saw another video suggesting not using this, again, for safety reasons. It just means that when I back the car to the house to pick up my wife and shift to Park, I must manually unlock the doors for her to enter. But in a shopping mall, all doors remain locked when shifting to Park or turning off the car. I control when doors are unlocked thusly preventing uninvited entering in public places.
@edsgarage0015 күн бұрын
Thank you for you comment... Yeah the reason I don't enable it on this one, is I find it annoying to have to put your hand in the handle twice. On models with a physical button, it's simpler. So for those, I enable two press unlock. Of course, during delivery, I explain everything to the client and see what the wanna do

@edsgarage0017 күн бұрын
Honestly you don't need the electric brakes. The car can easily handle the weight. Plus you'll actually lose range, as you'll get less regenerative braking. But if you want the e-brakes to work, you'll need to install a trailer brake controller.

On long freeway trips at 80-mph (130 kph) after depleting the battery. I average 35 mpg (6.7 l/100 km). While I've not had significant battery range depletion, at 85000 miles (136,000 km), I needed to replace the controller for the central display (US$ 2500) and the transmission shifter lever for "Shift-to-Park" defect on several Chevrolet models. Fortunately the shift lever is covered by the Bolted warranty (100,000-miles/8-years). Otherwise, repair is about $500. 5th generation replacement part is $65. I can't find anything significantly better from Toyota or GM. If we don't drive long distances, I only fill the 8-gallon gasoline tank 1/4 full. After 6 months, the gasoline engine burns the gasoline before it goes stale and I put in another 2 gallons for the next 6 months. Oil needs to be charged every 24 months or 10,000 gasoline miles.

All those capacitors in combination with the rectifier diodes are probably arranged as a ladder type voltage multiplier. This would take the 120V or 240V input and deliver the 800V for the batteries. The large inductors would be needed to filter out the large ac ripple on the dc output under load.

I also ordered something similar and might be returning it. Granted in my situation it would be to wash dishes at the house, but for 20 bucks more I could get a small under the sink tank that draws under 1000w, I’m getting into the battery back up power stuff, and even though I don’t even have a system yet, and could make use of the instant heat, the fact that it will not be worth conditioning my eventual system’s inverter capacity is already a pass for me, maybe I am being silly, it just seems like a waste of output that could be mitigated with a little patience. If inverter size has a role in idle power consumption, a device like this doesn’t seem worth it to me….
@edsgarage00113 күн бұрын
If it could heat a nice steady useful steam... Maybe. But it couldn't really do that. So a tank is a better bet.

@@edsgarage001 yeah I might at least try to hook it up today, ever since I got interested in portable power stations inverter size has always played an important role in choosing, this would require something ridiculous! I think I might settle for a usb powered faucet and a 500w bucket heater 😂

Hi Ed I am in Burnaby not far from you. I am buying a 2019 ioniq EV which has 110k Km already is it worth it? And in further if I wanna change the battery how much it will gonna cost me? Thanks
@edsgarage00115 күн бұрын
I guess that depends on how much it is. The 19 has a range of 200km on average, or about 165 in the winter. Will that be enough range for you? Don't worry about replacing the battery, you'll never need to. Thanks to our climate being rather mild, it never really gets hot enough for long enough to cause accelerated degradation of the battery. On top of that companies are starting to be able to repair battery packs rather than replace them. We just received information at the dealership that will be receiving training and tools necessary for battery diagnosis and repair. Also keep in mind the battery is warrantied until 160,000 km or 8 years.

Hi Ed, I wanted to add this comment to your solar panel installation video, but I can't find it right now so I'll add it here. On your trip did you have any issues with rocks hitting the solar panels? Are you concerned about that? And have you done anything to minimize that possibility. We weren't looking for the same model of trailer, but we ended up with the same model and I intend to add panels to the front similar to what you did. I was planning to go with flexible panels, but I'm having trouble finding any that will fit and still give me 300W to 400W unless I go with rigid panels like you did. Thanks, Ron
@edsgarage00116 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I didn't do anything to block rocks... But honestly didn't even think about it. But these panels could probably take a rock hit, they're super tough. 15000km trip plus a bunch of other little trips since, and no issues yet. Considering the front and top of the trailer are nice and flat, I opted for these panels for cost savings and efficiency.
