This can't be right. I was told by a very prominent someone that this hack was not good because they didn't like the first map. And if the first map is bad, surely the rest can't be any better... right?

To this day I really wish Mangs would have given the hack another shot, while I love his content I thought that he unfairly judged the game over a mediocre first map. Granted he had a very old LP of the game in its v2 state with the first 10 chapters and made it to the 4th chapter. But judging a book by its cover is something they teach you not to do in elementary school, I would have been more happy if he would have criticized the hack after having played at least more than half but preferably all of it

The fact that his video is one of the first things that pops up when you look up "Fire Emblem Road to Ruin" on youtube is terrible for Prime's publicity, I feel awful that after 6 or so years of him completing the hack that his final release was met with a large chunk of the community hating on his hack for not the best reasons

Ah my very first hack, such a memorable hack to me. Doesn't break any boundaries but also doesn't do anything really wrong or frustrating to the player. Overall pretty good

This is the first hack that I have completed and I have to say it is one of the most solid hacks out there. I wish there would be more hacks with very simple premises and additions instead on complex and completely different ways of playing Fire Emblem. My only issue with this hack is the limited number of classes because there are barely any repeats in units. while there are many units that have similar roles, it boils down to using different units because they seem different but they are not different.

If you like this, I think you should check out The Order of the Crimson Arm. It is another completed hack and it is overall very solid as well.

@@KelikNSG2 already have. Crimson arm is better IMO but it has worser flaws that makes it more risky. Still though it's unique mechanics makes it stand out better than other hacks.

9:50 Games where u don't care if most of your units die have more room for strategic depth than fire emblem tbh. The idealized concept of fire emblem is that u are cautious with your units since you care about them personally and so losing them is impactful, but in practice what happens is most players treat each character death essentially as a game over (outside of ironman runs by players who have beaten the game several times). Games like the battle for wesnoth have a couple of named characters, but most of your army are basically nameless mooks(randomly generated names do not count lmao). Consequently this allows the developer to make scenerios where the enemy is guaranteed to kill some of your troops, without it feeling unfair and since the non character troops can still gain xp and level losing them can still have an impact on the player.

First and foremost, I wanna say that I'm very hype to see what comes from the rest of Fire Emblem February. I really enjoy your FE related videos, and I'd love to see more of it all year round, but I can very much respect how tiring and time consuming playing FE can be. Onto the video itself, I really enjoyed seeing your thoughts on the game, and it pretty well surmised my feelings for it while I played, although I've yet to finish the game cause I lost my original save and my only place to play it is on my phone, which is obviously less than optimal. Also, in case you're willing to add another hack onto your plate, there's Legends of Avenir, an incomplete hack based on the idea of multiple routes that continue changing based on player choice. It's actually quite fun and interesting, and the shortness of the available routes allowed me to have fun playing without getting me tired after two or three chapters, though that could be because the maps are relatively shorter, at least in my experience.

Buddy there's a WHOLE. Community for rom hacking in fire emblem. If you're still interested I suggest looking at FEE3 2020 or previous years. There are tons of completed projects and projects in development out there. Alternatively you can go to FEuniverse and look at the rom hack directory to find all the hacks on the site that have been posted there. It sorts all the games and their completion status. I suggest watching FEE3 for projects that peek your interest the. Downloading them on FEU. Cheers!

I never did finish playing this one. After a few chapters in I stopped playing it. I just couldn't get over the 9th grade writing level. None of the characters are written like medieval fantasy they're written like cocky anime characters in a shitty isekai dub.

Not everyone is a professional writer here. I think the writing was pretty decent for a fangame.
