Yeah that's the issue with the Avatars in the series, the ONLY Avatar who WAS an Avatar was fucking MARC! Frankly speaking EVERY Lord in Fire Emblem is an Avatar of the player, and essentially Robin can't even be SEEN as an Avatar, the only reason AVATAR worked for them was because of the fact they ARE an Avatar....but for GRIMA not the player! Corrin can't be an Avatar because they have their own past history and life before the game began, the only thing you affect is gameplay stuff and choices in the story as in CHAPTER 6 route split choice! But that's it! Corrin is made TERRIBLE by the need to obsess over the Avatar tag when it wasn't needed! Byleth got it WORSE because they made them SILENT, and then SHEZ in Three Hopes showed that making them SILENT was a STUPID idea, especially as their character in Engage AND three Hopes is EXACTLY what one expected from the bread crumps shown in Three Houses (all the TOLD to us about Byleth instead of SHOWN to us, which Byleth CAN'T because their a SILENT PROTAGONIST FOR SOME REASON!). Alear took the CAKE because I saw NO reason to bloat out their name Alear! Frankly I HATED all the Ashen Demon, Divine One, Professor shit because it was used in place of not saying the character's ACTUAL NAME! And that kept getting STUPIDER among the OTHER gripes with Engage's story specific! I want Fire Emblem to stop using Avatars PERIOD! Even Kris wasn't an Avatar as they have a history already TOO! It's okay to let us CUSTOMIZE their looks as we please, but Corrin was the LAST Avatar the player could customize, in the end all you can do with Byleth and Alear is effect their GENDER and Birthday! But after Echoes, I LUST for a Fire Emblem with a PROPER LORD and no "ARE YOU A BOY or ARE YOU A GIRL" choices! FUCKING COMMIT! Frankly I know an AVATAR per say WILL exist in the SPIRIT of things because Marc and the whole Reincarnating was started with LYN in Awakening sensing Robin was Marc reincarnated, and they kept PUSHING all Avatars in the series as reincarnations of Marc (funny I think they SKIPPED Byleth and Shez cause they can't BOTH be reincarnations, and Sothis is Byleth's reincarnation!) But trying to make them WORK won't work like they want! At least make the "name" a NICKNAME and have them follow a SET name! SMT 4 Final/Apocalypse let you NAME the MC, but gave them the default name NANASHI for the sake of the VA! So maybe it's time to do that as well! Frankly I know some will say FE4 might get an Avatar! But the closet I can see an AVATAR is them being like FINN, likely a KID so they can be the same age as Oifey and Shannan and be like the REBORN of Sigurd, Quan and Eldigan....even though we have that in Part 2 with Seliph, Leif and Ares, hey they can be the THIRD Generation of the THREE TRIO! I mean look at Part 2 opener, it's established Oifey and Shanna essentially became BADASSES that even the bad guys view them as MORE IMPORTANT then Seliph! Largely because it took attention OFF abit on Seliph so he can prepare to WRECK the empire's SHIT! But fuck it let me stop here! If you're keeping the Avatar's, LET US CUSTOMIZE THEIR LOOKS DAMN IT! At best they need to go back to how Robin and KRIS were and NOT be the main lord of the game, and they HAVE to not overshadow the Lord cause we don't need another CHROM with how LUCINA AND ROBIN are more remembered then the poor guy who actually is an interesting Lord! He's a Sigurd who learned his lesson SOONER and SURVIVES his intended Death! Frankly we have a ROBIN/KRIS who DOESN'T overshadow the Lord of their game! THEIR CALLED BYLETH/THE PROFESSOR and frankly SHEZ in Three Hopes! Both are given EQUAL importance as the Lord you select. NO ONE is forgetting Edelgard, NO ONE is forgetting Dimitri, and no one is ESPECIALLY forgetting MOTHERFUCKING CLAUDE VON RIEGAN either! Silver Snow is DISLIKED largely because next to COPYING badly Claude's route, it's story is pretty BAD and frankly Byleth can't have their own route do to not having a CHARACTER because they made them SILENT for some reason! But I DID get to see HOW it would have worked in Engage where if you UNLOCK the Three Lords Emblem Bracelet AFTER getting Byleth, you'll see a cutscene of them all talking and well it makes me CRY on how we MISSED THIS in Three Houses because of the Silent Protagonist idioicy of 3 Houses!

Robin and to an extent Kris represent my ISSUE with the Avatar system in FE. In that at best it just feels like we're being asked if the MC is a Boy or a Girl. But they have their OWN personality and character. Byleth felt like a HUGE over correction of this that HURTS them in 3Houses, ESPECIALLY when you see them in 3Hopes and realize if you were paying attention. THIS WAS BYLETH'S CHARACTER, the game just decided NOT to have them talk or follow the conversation or give THEIR input and be talked TO AND FOR by others. Corrin was a SUE! Notice how GREAT Corrin and Byleth's character's are OUTSIDE their native Entry's ESPECIALLY In Engage where Byleth's got some good conversations with the 3 Lords his students PROVIDED you DON'T get the Student's Emblem Bracelet till you get him! You get him after Chapter 14! They can be accessed AFTER Chapter 6, so that's alot of chapter's YOU AREN'T USING A DAMN GOOD EMBLEM BRACELET, ESPECIALLY After Chapter 11! But yeah I LOVED Corrin and Byleth OUTSIDE of Fates and 3Houses and I TRIED to like their characters in those games, but while they had their moments, bad writing choices HURT THEM in the long run in those games and ANY love of "Their character" comes from the few GOOD writing choices AND their cameos in other FE games AND Fire Emblem Heroes! (God I completed Revelations and I think I hate THAT incarnation of Corrin the most! Conquest Corrin is actually my FAVORITE of the bad Corrin incarnations because and TV Tropes noted this! It's the one route where Corrin is LITERALLY a Camus despite Xander LOOKING like Camus LOL! Corrin is a Good person fighting for the BAD GUYS for GOOD Reasons, but their STILL fighting for the Bad Guys, the story SHOWS how this takes it's toll on Corrin, from Iago's CONSTANT bullying to Garon's Mood Swings and love of sending them out on Uriah Gambits for the EVULZ (cause Anankos is too insane to decide HOW to handle Corrin before trying to pull a Grima in Revelations! Man was Anankos screwed over by the writing, even FEH has it's work treating him as the THREAT he should be treated as narritive wise taking into mind him being a "FIRST DRAGON" which is something around SOTHIS level of power! Naga's getting treated like she's the YOUNGEST of the GOD Tier Dragon Gods basically. and 3Hopes DOES hint that Sothis has her moments of being similar to Anankos in mistreating those she once lovingly protected due to WRATH. Though 3Hopes Sothis awoken with ALL her bad memories intact, where 3Houses Sothis was in Nurturing Mommy Mode while her memory was lost and COMBINED with Byleth BEFORE her full memories were returned so that is likely why she feels Anankos like) hell Corrin is close to giving up before Azura made the PLOT happen! Yes the bubble curse was dumb, YES Azura's actions including SQUANDERING her "Evidence" on Corrin and NOT having Leo nearby that WOULD have HELPED in LESS Secret Keeping would have helped, and YES the whole Help Nohr beat Hoshido into paste on the CHANCE the Throne legend was true was SUPER DUMB! But people keep forgetting since Corrin has to keep REMINDING those in game, They are SHELTERED and were LOCKED IN A FUCKING FORT CASTLE for their Entire Childhood! And Azura is INTROVERT! The plan makes ALOT of sense taking those into mind! But as said, someone showed HOW to make the plot work BETTER If Corrin had STARTED convincing their Nohr Siblings EARLY!! Elise should be easiest, Leo, they present their evidence and Camilla is ONLY convinced with Leo backing the two up. But she makes it clear Xander needs to be convinced or it will ALL fall apart, and Xander's case is he needs FULL COMPLETE Evidence no 99%, 100% that Garon is Gooron in order to be on board. So the scene before the final chapter of Conquest is Xander needing convincing then EVERYONE NOW being convinced! Conquest was OKAY, but alot of BAD story choices hurt the GOOD ones in my opinion, but there IS a working story in there! Revelations should have just been a Genealogy like Part 2 for Birthright and Conquest about an Older Corrin and Azura and the Child Units and maybe some younger units NOW older, hell Nyx is eternally a Loli! So she can still be USABLE and some of your older units could just be OLDER Jagen's at that point or just be Cameo's for their kids or whatever!) Shez from Three Hopes and Alear from Engage CEMENTED that the Avatar Concept is a FAILURE! Shez showed that BYLETH should have been allowed to talk and be more involved in the conversation which is WHY their a good main character for 3Hopes. And Alear took CUES from Shez, being a WAY Better Corrin because the writing is more FOCUSED (I don't care what others say, Engage's story isn't BREAKING NEW GROUNDS, but it's a DECENT story with some missteps then a Unredeemable Garbage Fire, those saying otherwise, I have to ask, what is your ACTUAL story standards cause it's stupid to see ONE or a few bad things and completely ignore the ACTUALLY well writen stuff because you fear looking FOOLISH giving ANY type of praise to something you went in HATING already! I mean you even got MOST who agree it's average but not as BAD as others made it out to be, or those saying the early half had issues but the mid to LATE game were HUGE Improvements! Basically Fates and Awakening with a FAR more focused story as we never had FILLER Arcs in the story like Awakening missteped nor ALL OVER THE PLACE like with Fates and a small bit with 3Houses as I NEVER want to see ROUTES like Fates and 3Houses for a good while till they DO THEM RIGHT! 3Hopes did it BETTER, but lack an ending/TRUE Conclusion to the story HURT the landing! Alear cements to me that maybe it's time to shelve the Avatar concept! I'm tired of hearing the character's get called "You, Divine One, or Professor" all the time cause the names are customizable! Engage REALLY made me hate them by how the Name is just not SAID even if the Subtitles SHOW their real name was said! Plus if we're going to do Boy/Girl then make SOME differences to make the genders UNIQUE, both genders of a character shouldn't COMPLETELY have the same interests 100%! It would IMPROVE Uniqueness and even REPLAYABLITY more then the series already has that way!

Yeah, I always hated the "Classic vs Casual" arguement because with the OPTION to CHOOSE, this makes it irrelevent, and I will give them this, Awakening DID feel like the higher difficulties REALLY want you to use Casual mode unless your Ironman-ing. Hell still does in future games afterwards as NO FUCKING WAY AM I PLAYING LUNATIC/MADDENING ON CLASSIC MODE. Hell only time both camps agreed on something it was "Phoenix Mode" going too far! Which was true, good god if there was ever a way the Devs made a "Weenie Hut Jr" insult to fans, it was that mode! Ironically some new fans got into the series due to Phoenix mode like my little brother who was 16 and gave the game a try. Started him on Phoenix mode, he thought it was too easy....and then I put him on Casual, still felt it was a TAD hard but too easy, and then I put him on my DEFAULT settings I play a Fire Emblem Game, Hard/Classic (Or Normal in the older games BEFORE Awakening, Radiant Dawn was WEIRD as Normal WAS Hard mode because they fucked up the translation, so that was my ACTUALY first time playing Hard Mode in a Fire Emblem as I usually opt for Normal, but now they got abit easier that Hard mode IS Normal Mode of old to me! Hard Mode in the older games might as well be "Lunatic" in the newer ones, and I'm sure POR Hard was like the new games Hard Mode with how much I see the Hatedom Elitist in the community pull the "No true FE Fan" if you don't default to Maniax every playthrough like there's a DEFINITIVE WAY to play the game! I feel like this mindset is pushed by so many WANTING to be like Mangs and other Let's Players who play CHALLENGE modes, forgetting they do that because "No one wants to watch someone play Normal/Classic difficulty! Might as well play the game yourself! People want to watch you COMPLETE a challenge and so will ONLY be attracted to Challengers Video's then Casual Players unless it's a REACTION video (And no I don't blame MANGS and Co for the Hatedom's bad behavior! They would have found any other excuses to attack people they disagree with or games they hated in the series even had they not existed and gave THEIR opinions! Just like Hatedoms of any other Fandom that have to look for excuses to justify their own bad character behaviors!) I've noticed it isn't just Fire Emblem! ANY new entries to established games or remakes like the recent Dead Rising 1 Deluxe Remaster DARE to add a Optional Quality of Life (QoL) editions gets the "RUINED FOREVER" treatment like they don't want ANYONE to have an options! Everyone has to DRUDGE through the same HELL as THEY the wannabe Let's Players (I think many in the Hatedom of FE want to wear those Mangs or Blazing Knight Skin like a Suit so they can BASK in their fans and respect given to them because of ENVY! Hence a PART of this bad controlling behavior is at least explained, seriously its pathetic these people who are too busy wasting their lives and energy being JEALOUS/ENVIOUS of others and not trying to do something cause THEY enjoy it! A KZbinr Fire Emblem Fan said it best that they HATE the "Warp powerful OP character to Boss, have them One Shot Boss, YOU WIN FIRE EMBLEM" strategy and love playing tactically, the hate more directed at the assholes who act like your MURDERED their mother and raped her corpse in front of them if you DARE not Warp Skip or PRAISE Warp Skipping like your INSULTING them when you just said you don't like or care to Warp Skip! The Ego's on some people to not accept other people's enjoyment! Hell I ran into the BEST representive of this ENTITLED all about me behavior from someone of the same race as me saying they played Mass Effect 1 Made their character look like THEMSELVES in real life and feel SAD/disappaointed no one ELSE is making their character look like themselves or look like HERS when Character Creation means WE CAN MAKE OUR CHARACTER ANYTHING WE FUCKING WANT! Like she was saying she wanted options LIMITED because of HER feelings! And this is what I was taught NOT to do, hurt OTHER people's feelings because I want mine to be SUPER IMPORTANT! I am not the king of the world! Do not do to others what you don't want done to yourself and VICE VERSE! The moment you shit on me, I'm going to EXPLOSIVE Shit all over you in return! You brought it on yourself by not leaving me alone because you just can't NOT be a NARC for one second in your life, you get what you deserve!)

Yeah, I'm happy that Shifters are treated more like Manakate of old where they just have a Stone item for transformations rather then a meter. Hopefully if they remake POR/RD, they use the meter more in the vein the Engage Bar was utilized in Engage and just have them SHIFT! Or maybe make the human form have some advantages that Beast Form doesn't have, sort of like how Dismounting worked but more relevent. And hopefully WON'T keep it as is like it was a REmaster and not a Remake where they can make GOOD meaningful On one hand I DID enjoy the transformation mechanic as it was in POR, but I was a dumb kid in my emo phase then (I started with Blazing Sword like all us AMERICANS LOL) but that's just my style of having everyone work together to cover their weakness in this series......but yeah INVALIDATING the system with the Laguz Royals (And Gaffa) was just fucking MEAN, what was the POINT of Mordecia, Muriam and Lethe when you were going to give us Gaffa by endgame anyway! Or the two Hawks when we get the HAWK KING! And then Radiant Dawn STUFFS YOU FULL OF Laguz Royals, Ranulf is to Lethe what the Laguz Royals were to every other Laguz in Path of Radiance and funny how Dragons were made LATE GAME recruits when they were usually a Mid Game recruitment! I couldn't enjoy Ena or her father Nasir when I had so little time with them! Sad And in defense, the Dawn Brigade DOES have some noteworthy units! Nolan is worth a try. Sothe still has his POR bonuses....too bad he was competing with FUCKING VOLKE and you only needed ONE THIEF and between 50 Gold EACH to have Thief Functions or Free but dealing with FUCKING JUILIAN 2.0 (Thief REALLY felt POINTLESS combat wise to use in FE1/11 & 3/12. Worse thanks to Blossom that DISCOUNT Aptitude that is likely the REASON Aptitude is as good as it is in FUTURE games because the EXP drop was FUCKING REMOVED made it HARD to justify training him if you TRIED (more so because he can't promote, something I HOPE a Remake will fix up for a CHARACTER THAT IS IMPORTANT TO RADIANT DAWN's STORY! Yeah he's not going to be an OPTIONAL character with how important it is that he sticks with Ike as it is important to have a connection to Micaiah and not helping Sothe makes you wonder HOW he could still be a fan of Ike by Radiant Dawn especially as Micaiah mentions Sothe never shutting up about his time with Ike during POR), and well Edward might be worth it....too bad he's ALSO competing with THREE POR Swordmasters who get bonuses from a POR Save and even with out BETTER bases! At least EVEN WITH POR bonuses Nolan has a decent shot of competing with Boyd. Edward cannot! Meg makes me laugh and shall not be mentioned when her father and Blue Armor Knight Sain exist who ALSO get POR bonuses......that's about IT! You have no choice BUT to level Micaiah and Sothe as Sothe is kind of a FORCED deployment especially Late Game But even though Blazing Sword was my FIRST Fire Emblem! Path of Radiance is my FAVORITE! Even now Engage and Three Houses are SECOND PLACE TOGETHER with Fates being 3rd (well Conquest anyway, not that I dislike Birthright and Revelations) but Path of Radiance is my NUMBER 1 and I really want to play it again!

Funny enough, I started doing the A Team/B Team thing when playing Three Houses! But only on my Hard/Classic Runs (My more COMMON way to play Fire Emblem) because if I needed to grind for money or such! My B team was used while my A Team would ONLY be used during Story/Paralogue Battles! This kept them PROPERLY leveled and if any STARTING students ended up in the B team in Non Crimson Flower runs. Then they would be properly leveled for the crappy FORCED Chapter 13 battle (Why is this here, First Run it was interesting, but if you aren't prepared, Hard and ESPECIALLY Maddening can make this HELL! It's' ironic that Crimson Flower is the only route where you can use ANY unit without worry about Chapter 13 forced deploy, well minus Cat, Cereal, Deadbeat Knight Dad and The brother-Father/Sister-Daughter duo fooling NO ONE who are unrecruitable along with Dimitri, Dedue, Hilda and Claude. But I at least had FUN being able to use different characters like I did in EVERY OTHER FIRE EMBLEM instead of FORCED to use certain characters to deal with Chapter 13 (Maddening makes this ANNOYING because you can't AFFORD to have a Team B unless your're TEAM B are the characters who will TAKE CENTER STAGE after you pass Chapter 13 where you can BENCH your starting students you never planned to use but the game FORCED YOU with the fear of them being LIABLE in Chapter 13! This is the MAJOR reason I love Engage abit more! I started withe CLASSIC format that was Blazing Sword! And Frankly I'm not too much of a FAN of Genealoy and 3Houses, more not liking Genealogy then 3Houses which I STILL love as equally as Engage! Just certain elements I like in one over the other and vice verse, but Engage gets a slight lead for BEING Classic Fire Emblem! I stick with the characters I plan to use during a playthrough, it's nice later units have good starting stats, but that's ONLY if I plan to use them, at least it makes it EASY to adjust them to the main fighting party)

I'm working through my own backlog rn and I also played Half-Life for the first time this year! And my previous experience with the property was also limited to HLVRAI lol. I have since learned that either Half-Life is very hard or I am just very, very bad at FPS games (or a little of both) but it was still worth playing!

Yea I would not recommend going batch to Gotham Knights. Once you get to the end game you are stuck into an absolute GRIND you need to level every character seperately and in order to finish the game you need to complete these investigations which means you need to go find some criminals beat them up interrogate them, either 5 or 10 times, until you fill your bar and can go and stop the "Big Job" and you have to do this repeatedly with each character I think 10 times so thats 100 robberies you need to stop per character

There's a fan patch out in Beta right now for Spark that fixes some of the crashing bugs. The game engine is super old and tends to glitch out on Windows 10 and 11. Also Spark 3 is kino, def think its worth checking out, just be sure to go in blind after Spark 2 (or watching Spark 2 cutscenes)
