Hi Lyndsey You asked about what route would we take back from Poggibonsi is as follows. Poggibonsi to Lido de Jesolo and visit Venice, Murano and Burano via the public water buses. Then onto Portogruaro with its famous leaning bell tower, the onto the Family & Wellness Resort in Pozza do Fassa in the Italian Dolomites then onto the Mountain resort of Malbun in Liechtenstein and get your passports stamped then a free overnight stop by the Rhine at Karlsruhe in Germany followed by a farm aire stop at Alveringham in Belgium before a ferry back to Dover from Zeebrugge. We actually did this trip last year but in reverse so we know it works. Maybe an alternative if you do it again?

You are absolutely correct there has been quite a number of wet belt failures on Ford transits even with regular oil changes . That is why they converted the ecotec fiesta engines to chain drive. Ford are recalling cars in US but not UK?

You commented on the lack of passengers, unfortunately their are still a lot of memories of the way P&O dismissed its crews the other year, so people are not using them because of that.Not so sure on the longevity of these new ferries as there have been numerous niggling problems.

We have a transit custom that we had converted to a campervan, and before we collected it the wet belt failed, required an engine rebuild, over 4K of work! Therefore yes, I would avoid if possible! Advised to change oil every 10k now
@RoamingRadfords7 ай бұрын
Yikes!
@paulsouth39267 ай бұрын
Those Wet Belt engines are certainly gaining a notoriety. Not only do they need frequent oil changes but the exact spec oil must be used otherwise apparently it causes the belt to break up with the resulting debris blocking the filter causing oil starvation and engine failure!
@alarmactionukalarmactionuk8937 ай бұрын
I was just about to post a comment regarding the Ford 'wet belt' scandal. It appears to effect mainly Transits but other models have been mentioned also that runs the timing belt through oil.
@brutallyhonestcoffeereview31157 ай бұрын
@@alarmactionukalarmactionuk893 yes we actually have a C3 air cross as well that need the timing belt changing as was breaking up in the oil, luckily got to it before it caused the engine to seize!

Yes Gary is correct. As soon as I saw the boarding tickets I was expecting to see you guys having breakfast in the truckers lounge. The lorry’s subsidise the car prices so they keep the weekly regulars happy so we don’t complain to our bosses and then switch the whole fleet to another ferry operator. Better luck next year 😂

We’re off to Italy in June, from Northumberland run down to Folkestone over on the shuttle and then about a hour to an áire, then we’ve got 2.5 days to take a slow run to Lake Garda (one overnight has to be your recommendation of Furka pass) five nights at Camping Fornella then 4 nights on lake Como, then another slow 5 days back to the shuttle and a weekend at Camper Jam. We both love watching your videos you have given us lots of inspiration, Morocco is on our bucket list, but we’ve also got a idea to visit Norway, any chance you might do that as an expedition?

We never wanted beds that make you climb over to get out. We have permanent rear singles over the garage that can be one big king size if you want. We keep it as singles as either of us can get out without disturbing the other. Mind you we have 2 people in a 7.5 metre van so it's much easier than accommodating 5!

Oil or no oil it’s a stupid design and costly service item. Why then US recall but not UK and conversion to chain.
@RobertSmith-cv1cu7 ай бұрын
Re the fridge. Our van has the same make and design but ours is the 3 way. We carry expensive injections in ours, 200e each. A compressar fridge would be a disaster. Now we have 3 options. If the fridge developed an issue you can be sure 1 would work. People that carry medicine keep that in mind. Now Steve I have mentioned before this fridge has always kept the temperature correct. Never an issue. We live in Spain and are out in the summer. We know how hot it gets. What we did notice that when your original fridge was taken out the correct air gaps were not there. The correct air movement is important. That would account for your issues. Back to your trip its been good fun. Take care.
@RoamingRadfords7 ай бұрын
I’m afraid every 3 way fridge in the last 5 motorhomes have all failed in the high summer temperatures of southern Europe so we simply have no faith in 3 way fridges anymore as even the manufacturers only guarantee them to work at ambient temperatures of up to 30 degrees, so we have 2 compressor fridges now and they’ve been perfect, even in the 48 degree Morocco heat, so if one was to fail we still have a back up to keep the wine cool. 😎 I mean any medicines that need refrigerating 😉

Doesn’t help when some designs end up blocking the external vents when the habitation door is open. Seen that a few times.
