Excellent episode yet again. As newbies in the world of motorhoming we’ve learned so much from your podcasts and trawling through your catalogue of KZbin videos. Huge thanks and glad your well 👍

Many thanks! That’s lovely to hear and very kind of you to say so. If you have a question please share it with me. I’m sure there will be many others with the same question! Mhmp.info/askmatt

@@MotorhomeMatt Funnily enough your piece on the van battery going flat after a couple of weeks made me sit up as we also have a tracker fitted. We have a solar panel on the roof (don’t know the spec) and wondered if it is likely to be providing charge to both batteries? Might well be purchasing a maintainer from you shop soon😂
@MotorhomeMatt4 ай бұрын
The best way to check is measure the voltage at the battery. If it’s above 12.7v it’s charging.

Excellent information about Brit Stops.

Thanks for commenting and watching. Do you use Britstops?

@@MotorhomeMatt I was a member of Brit Stops for two years but I prefer to have a power hook-up and I am a bit uneasy about being parked by a pub on a Friday or Saturday night after closing, even though I enjoy a pint or two myself. Good to hear that Brit Stops is encouraging councils to create Aires and the European model seems the way to go. I am impressed by the fact that the original British family are still directly involved with the project and the business model seems to work well for both Brit Stops and the owners of the actual stops themselves.

That’s fair enough. We tend to use quiet country pubs where we experience little noise. We also use a portable power pack so we can have hookup off grid if we need it. But we use campsites a lot too

I did buy the book in two previous years, but haven’t bothered subsequently just because we have so many subscriptions for other camper stuff. So, interesting to see the developments of the App and addition of more non pub stays. Having seen your vlog l would reconsider joining. They do have to be best in class though given it’s a paid service. Best of luck to Tom and Britstops.

It is a great app and of course is updated regularly. Keep the books as you will always find them useful if you don’t renew the app! I love it though. A great way to find some new nice pibs even locally to us! Please use the link if you buy as we get a small amount of commission too thank you 🙏 mhmp.info/britstops

Fantastic to hear more about Brit Stops. I was a previous subscriber with the book, thought the old app was awful and when I heard about the Harvest takeover I didn't resubscribe. However, with the generous 20% discount and the amazing new app I have signed straight back up!

It is really easy to use! Where are your favourite spots?

The real "Elephant in the room" with Brit Stops is that the pubs will let you stay anyway (in my experience) regardless of membership.
@MotorhomeMatt4 ай бұрын
Yes absolutely but this is an easy and great way to find pubs that allow you to stopover including pictures and a growing number of reviews. We’ve been back to pubs that we found on the app the first time and discovered new places too. The growing network of types of venue is really interesting to watch grow. I find the app saves me loads of time googling and is quick a quick and easy way to find all the info I need. We always call ahead using the data on the app and check with the pub where they want us to park. Thanks for commenting and happy travels!

Yea but the app helps you find these places in the first place
@mabelsambles91184 ай бұрын
@schofield4836 as does Park4night and Searchforsites but for 1/10 th of the cost and they each hace far more info about many more kinds of stops. Britstops USP was the book.

That’s interesting feedback. I’ll pass it on. I do find the increased variety of locations on Britstops great to see

For a small additional premium we have extended our home insurance to allow for trips away of up to 60 days provided a key holder checks the house weekly and the heating is left on at 15 degrees from November to March. Similarly our travel insurance that comes with our building society account can be topped up to cover longer trips. We were recently away in Scotland in our campervan for three weeks followed by a 5 week trip abroad so thought it would be worth declaring our car “off road” for two months saving nearly £100 (The RFL is £590 per year). I checked with our car insurer, Direct Line, and they said that the car insurance would be invalid if the car was SORNed, even though the car would be locked inside our garage with an alarm and a steering wheel lock. The insurance was also due for renewal while we were away and they would not renew the insurance if the car was SORN. CRAZY BUT TRUE!
@MotorhomeMatt4 ай бұрын
That seems ridiculous! It’s safer sorn and off the road so a lower risk to the insurer, surely?! I may do some digging on this with other insurers as we sorn our cars and Motorhomes regularly through the year! Thanks so much for commenting

The NC 500 has limited options for dumping GREY water I suspect it’s uneducated locals seeing grey water and thinking it’s toilet waste! Black water disposal points are actually easy to find.
@MotorhomeMatt4 ай бұрын
That may well be true I must admit I’m very cautious when emptying grey water to avoid damnation!

You should contact Britstops directly as that is who you’ve paid. And there is no longer a book. It’s an online app subscription Thank you
