You have to be hands on, your passion will drive you.. if you truly want to do something, you’ll find a way regardless. You don’t need all the fancy tech, you just need something that records video.. and work from there, hands on is the best experience you can get; you’ll learn on the way making mistakes.

Great advice, and I can see much of it being applicable far beyond filmmaking. Your fiance would like an expensive ring? Don't get it. It's too nice and it's just money. Make her a ring. Even if it's just yarn, you made it, that's love. I'm being only partly facetious but, you get the idea.

Car is the biggest one. You need a dependable vehicle with 4 wheels that runs on gas? Go get one. Lots of people want a fancy car, buy their old one. Encourage them to upgrade so you can swoop in on their vanity and get a deal.

@@clutchpowers3229 i often told by my peers that i need more equipment, more crews and more money to make film. But i have made multiple short films that i can be proud of, mostly extremely low budget with basic equipment and few friends. I'll say passion is the most important.

Robert you need to make the movie detailing the baddest, most Chingon Texan of all time! And, that man is MSG Roy P Benavidez, of the Green Berets. Hollywood will never take his Medal of Honor story UNLESS you make it.

He nailed it when he said you are either born creative or you are not. You can learn technical. So many people go the technical route with films and formulas but no one is creative or films from their soul anymore. Even Robert Rodriguez's films got progressively worse (loved Sin Citys) once he took the $$$ and made the spy kids films (which were technically good but not from a creative/soulful place).

I know he is a good filmaker but this video is so EDGY. In film you cant break the Rules if you dont know the rules First. Acording to Robert Rodriguez I make movies like every one else because i went to a film school. Nice !

That attitude won’t help you in anyway. Quit the excuses and start shooting something good.

@@souldiving4197 who says i won't help me ? Did you read my comment at all ? Acording to Robert i make generic movies because I got an education and i know what I'm doing don't you think that line of thinking is flawed and stupid. @Vinessa_Velvet3 жыл бұрын
@@souldiving4197 I think you both miss the point of RR statements. He is telling poor filmmakers that they should skip film school because it will cost them 20000. I am an independent film maker working on my first movie and its really hard when I dont know any of the rules or what I am doing. If I had 20,000$ I would go to a good film school and get that education. The route I am taking is way harder and way more expensive but I have creative freedom because I am making it myself and if I succeed will make the most profit. As film makers we shouldnt look down at each other because of our background and how we got to making movies.
