Every since I heard Myrtle sing "I Know the Lord Will Make A Way"..I have loved her!

There was something very primal about Myrtle's voice...there is a severity to it that commands you to stop and listen...you can't ignore it. Unlike Bessie Folk (who she temporarily replaced), her voice wasn't girlish and endearing...it was serious and venerable, even at a relatively young age. No matter how many times I listen to her entrance in this song, I get goosebumps when she comes in on "Oooooooh tell me where...".

Myrtle Jackson is easily the "Billie Holiday" of Gospel! I have her album on Savoy "Songs Of Inspiration" (14074). A wonderful recording.

@tas6010 Um....no! Also, you do realize the soloist on this song is Myrtle Scott and not Myrtle Jackson correct? Myrtle Jackson is contributing backing vocals here.
