The XCR-L is a very interesting rifle. This rifle was disqualified from the SCAR program on a technicality due to the fact that they forgot to include a blank firing adapter for their rifle. Had things been different I believe this rifle could have won that competition and been in heavy use by Special Operations Forces throughout the Global War on Terror. However that did not happen and we have this slick little rifle. Hope you enjoy the review.

For the purpose of this video, this is a semi automatic weapon utilizing 20 round magazines. All shooting was conducted on a closed private range.

As a German history nerd, that loves historical movies, it always pisses me off, that the Germans in movies talk bullshit German with a thick American accent. Being a fan of your content and knowing at least the scale of your budget, in comparison to a big studios, it’s incredibly impressive, that you managed to synchronize the bad guy German part with a person that actually speaks perfect German. I know that’s such a small part and probably less than 1% of your viewers even recognize that effort but I deeply appreciate your attention to detail! And then think about multi million dollar blockbuster productions that can’t pull that off… You and your team are despite your funny facade really informative professionals and even doctors in New Jersey therefore I deeply appreciate your effort to entertain us!

@Hulk Hogan Never forget the four Canadian soldiers were killed and eight others injured when U.S. Air National Guard Major Harry Schmidt dropped a laser-guided 500 lb (230 kg) bomb from his F-16 jet fighter on 18 April 2002. Never forget Army Ranger Specialist Pat Tillman, a former professional American football player, was shot and killed by American fire on 22 April 2004. Never forget Private Mark Anthony Graham, and 30 other Canadian soldiers who were wounded, 5 seriously. By US A-10 strafes. Never forget when a A U.S. Patriot missile shot down a British Panavia Tornado GR.4A of No. 13 Squadron RAF, killing the pilot and navigator. Never forget when a pair of American A-10s from the 190th attacked four British armoured reconnaissance vehicles of the Blues and Royals, killing L/CoH. Matty Hull and injuring five others. Never forget when an American soldier Mario Lozano killed an Italian intelligence officer Nicola Calipari and is suspected of wounding Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena in Baghdad. Sgrena was rescued from a kidnapping by Calipari, and it was claimed that the car they were escaping in failed to stop at an American checkpoint, whereupon U.S. soldiers opened fire. Video evidence shows the car was respecting speed limits and proceeding with its headlights on. Never forget when an American airstrike killed eight Kurdish Iraqi soldiers. Kurdish officials advised U.S. helicopters hit the men who were guarding a branch of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Mosul. Never forget when a US Apache AH-64 identified two journalists as Iraqi insurgents, and shoots at a van which had children in it, on July 12, 2007. Never forget when during the Battle of Khafji, 11 American Marines were killed in two major incidents when their light armored vehicles (LAV's) were hit by missiles fired by a USAF A-10. Never forget when two soldiers of the U.S. Army were killed and a further six wounded when an American Boeing AH-64 Apache attack helicopter fired upon and destroyed a U.S. Army Bradley Fighting Vehicle and an M113 Armoured Personnel Carrier. Never forget while supporting Operation Market Time, USCGC Point Welcome was attacked by USAF aircraft, resulting in the deaths of two Coast Guardsmen. Never forget 16-17 June 1968, HMAS Hobart, USS Boston and USS Edson were attacked by US aircraft. At 03:09, Hobart's radar picked up an aircraft approaching with no IFF transponder active. At 03:14, the aircraft fired a single missile at the ship which killed one sailor, wounded two others and damaged the ship. Two minutes later, the aircraft made a second pass and fired two missiles which caused further damage, killed another sailor and wounded six others. The aircraft came around for a third attack run, but was scared off when Hobart's forward gun turret, under independent control, fired five rounds at it. At 03:30, USS Edson, in company with Hobart, reported coming under fire, and Hobart's captain ordered both destroyers and USS Theodore E. Chandler to take up anti-aircraft formation. At 05:15, the three destroyers linked up with the cruiser USS Boston (which had been hit by a missile from another aircraft) and the escorting destroyer USS Blandy, and continued anti-aircraft manoeuvring. Debris collected from Hobart and the other ships indicated that the missiles were of United States Air Force (USAF) origin. The attacks on Hobart and the other ships were the capstone of a series of firing incidents between 15 and 17 June, and an inquiry was held by the USN into the incidents, with three RAN personnel attending as technical advisors. The inquiry found that a few hours before the attack on Hobart, Swift boats PCF-12 and PCF-19, along with USCGC Point Dume, were attacked by what they identified at the time as hovering enemy aircraft, but were believed to be friendly planes; PCF-19 was sunk in the attack. F-4 Phantoms of the USAF Seventh Air Force, responding several hours after the attack on the Swift boats, were unable to distinguish between the radar signature of surface ships and airborne helicopters, and instead opened fire on Hobart, Boston, and Edson. Never forget the Battle of Norfolk where a large number of friendly fire incidents took place resulting in 5 American casualties. Never forget 23 August 2007: A USAF F-15 called in to support British ground forces in Afghanistan dropped a bomb on those forces. Three privates of the 1st Battalion, the Royal Anglian Regiment, were killed and two others were severely injured. Never forget five United States Special forces operatives, and an Afghan Army counterpart were killed by friendly fire in Southern Zabul Province on June 9, 2014. Whilst on patrol, and coming under heavy Taliban fire, an air-strike was called in and a B-1 Lancer bomber misdirected its payload killing the six military personnel amongst others. Never forget SPC Donald Oaks, SGT Todd Robbins, and SFC Randall Rehn of D Battery, 1st Battalion, 39th Field Artillery Regiment (MLRS, M270 A1), 3rd Infantry Division Artillery (Previously C Battery 3-13 FA ), were killed when a US fighter jet mistook the rocket artillery from US MLRS as enemy targets on 3 April 2003 while 3rd ID DIVARTY conducted a counter fire battle with Iraqi positions along the Euphrates River. The ordnance struck the vehicles of the soldiers killing SFC Rehn instantly, while SGT Robbins and SPC Oak died shortly after from their wounds. 5 other soldiers were WIA from the event. Never forget when a U.S. Patriot missile batteries fired two missiles on a U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet 50 mi (80 km) from Karbala, Iraq. One missile hit the aircraft of pilot Lieutenant Nathan Dennis White of VFA-195, Carrier Air Wing Five, killing him. This was the result of the missile design flaw in identifying hostile aircraft. Would you like me to continue? USS liberty incident was like all of these, a friendly fire incident. Such things happen in every war and its unfortunate. However unlike you Americans we actually care. We payed millions in compensation to the families of those who were lost in USS liberty. How about next time, don't send a spy boat to the shores of an enemy country during an active war. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I’ve had an XCR-M for a year or so now and completely agree with the ejector. I had the old Gen of ejector and it would misalign and seize the bolt, and was just a pain in general. However since I live in Utah I was able to take it in to Robinson Arms and they replaced it with the newer model, and even tuned the gun to my suppressor for me while I was there all for free. Great company!

@@PhilWitDa_45 AK's have been illegal here for decades, but we all still have our AR's & such that got prohibited in May of 2020 as a knee-jerk reaction to a mass shooting (where the psycho did it with illegally-owned guns & arson combined, all while dressed as a cop driving a fake marked cop car with replicated decals). The killer had no gun license, had a Mini-14 he got from a friend's estate, the rest of his guns were smuggled from the USA. Licensed owners still have all of our now-prohibited guns, we just can't take them anywhere or use them lawfully. For me that's 3 AR's, a stripped AR lower & a Sig MPX. The current gov't will likely be replaced by the time they figure out confiscation as even many of their own supporters are getting sick of them. LE agencies & many provincial gov'ts have said there will be no help from them as budgets are already tight & policing budgets are provincial jurisdiction. Undoing the dumb bans will be easy as they used an administrative process to bring them in, not votes in Parliament, so they can be undone just as easily.

Owned an XCR-L since 2006. One of the unknown things about all models of XCR-L and XCR-M is the charging handle is also a "forward assist" that goes forwards and backwards. Notice the charging knob can be pushed in. There's a spring on the knob. The shaft on the charging handle goes into a machined hole on the left side of the bolt carrier group. This helps if you extract a stuck cartridge. I just hold the foregrip just ahead of the mag well with my right hand. Press in the charging handle with the left hand. Find a patch of grass on dirt and mortar the rifle to extract the stuck cartridge. This was one of the design characteristics that Alex Robinson made in all of the XCR series of rifles. For those that have an XCR-L or XCR-M try the charging handle "forward assist." One of the great, but, little known things about the XCR rifle.

Thank you for this video. I’ve gotten emails from Robinson Arms for years but have never bought one of their rifles because I hadn’t seen anyone review one. Like you said, they’re not an inexpensive gun and with AR’s being more available and cheaper they aren’t for everyone. But I’ve wanted one just to have something different. I may decide to get one some day.

I'm glad I have mine; I have the old first Gen (sub 200 SN), and I love it. I haven't gotten around to tuning it or anything serious, but it's a great platform for my 4x ACOG. The recoil has a light chonk comparable to the SCAR, the old FNC-esque folding stock is my favorite folder, and having a left-hand charging handle is very convenient for my style. I stand by this rifle, and I would feel I had done all that I could if fate called me and this is what I had.

Have been looking at purchasing an XCR in .308 and the first person I looked for a review from was you….2 weeks later I see your Instagram post with the XCR and knew it was coming. I love my DD5V3 but I want something in a 12.5”-14.5” chambered in .308 and that is piston driven. I’m very impressed how quiet it is suppressed and how smooth it shoots. It has zero recoil. Then he avidly explained the whole gun and I definitely plan get one eventually. Easy system to learn and swap out.

I own the XCR-L in 5.56 and also ordered the 7.62 and 300 Blackout conversion kits (took about 7 months to get them). Super simple to change between calibers and a nice option to have a single rifle with multiple caliber capability. As GT noted the ergonomics are great. Really nice rifle.

A lot of the "AR alternative" rifles from the 2000's are wildly under-rated. I'm glad to learn that small technicalities and logistical things were the only things holding it back and not the actual performance or reliability of it.

I’ve had my XCR-L for roughly 9 years. It still is up to par with what’s popular today. Easy to adjust the gas block to your ammo type if you run a standard length upper. Gas block get HOT so you may need a glove depending on your grip type. Company is good to work with and replacement parts are always readily avail online. So even tho they aren’t a huge well known company, they’ve been around and always there to help customers.

I forgot about this rifle, and had no idea it was made in Utah, the last time I heard of it was it being used as a reference for CMMG's commission to design a believable futuristic rifle for Bohemia Interactive's new game.
