When I look back at all the classic games I used to play, it feels so bitter to see how Roblox depreciates MILLIONS of game content just because they weren't willing to improve. the only good thing about this update is that it prevented people from using audios that were set to private since despite the audio being set to private before this update, you could still copy the ID and paste it into sound and the music or sound will still play. but this was still VERY overkill since they already removed the option to see unbelievable items...

I feel like this update summarizes Roblox's issue with rushing too fast to "modernize". The platform's original design and functionality made it more akin to a fancy flash arcade website; you made games and used assets that you felt made it work, regardless of the copyright status of the music. And they were designed to be fun, regardless of the quality of the game. Roblox's push to modernize left a lot of these systems unchecked, which would bite them later on in the years. They could have easily fixed this issue in the beginning, but something tells me that they don't bother making changes until a lawsuit is thrown towards them. Which is just irresponsible of them.

I think the sad reality is that the poor removal of boomboxes encouraged people to act like complete degens on the mic because they felt like roblox is the asshole for removing their bypassed content and felt like they gated them out, i legitimately struggle to find a server with kind people and not some bloke screaming slurs and exploiting. if they did the update to stop people reuploading copyrighted or offensive material it worked poorly.

One small Roblox game I play a crap ton is Juke's Towers of Hell (or JToH for short) Its genuinely one of if not THE best (and actually difficult) tower/obby games I've played. One of the things most notable is the music selection for certain towers and areas of the game. There's (usually) a different song for each floor of a tower (and they will also make sure to have it fit the theme/style of the tower) The music in the background of each tower is what I would say is one of the most important aspects of the game as the music can really upscale the experience of playing each tower, whether the tower is meant to be perceived as calm and fun or intense and painful (also the abundance of inside jokes for some songs lol) So not only was it EXTREMELY upsetting to hear the private audio update, but also one of THE most painful things for the Devs as there were (at the time) TWO HUNDRED towers in game (and counting) each one having 10 floors sometimes even MORE than that. Which resulted in legit HUNDREDS of songs that had to be PAINFULLY reuploaded ONE by ONE and MANUALLY READDED into EACH tower FLOOR BY FLOOR And, hell, they still haven't been able to FULLY reupload all of them due to such a large amount + small dev team + them having to work on adding more content to the game Roblox is genuinely one of the LEAST considerate people when it comes to their Devs. (which is most upsetting seeing as they boast about being oh so "connected" with their Devs and Community)

This is by far of what I’ve seen was the worst update of all time, thousands of audios just gone, I can’t even use my favorite audios with my radio/ play your own music gamepasses. I also remember being into Ro-Wrestling alot back in late 2017-2019 and even came back to it in 2021-early 2022. But we can’t get that back because there’s no wrestling or WWE Audios. Also hundreds of nostalgic games has just lost their audio and all the music we used to listen to inside of the game. Completely silent and soundless. Wish we could revert this update as it just destroyed almost everything.

It’s a shame roblox made this garbage audio update ruining so many games. They are just distanced from the player base and they could have done audio sweeps to take down copyright to avoid making this update, but they were too late. They were probably too focused on going corporate and distancing themselves from the player base.

Back in the day (2018 - 2019ish), I used to play "Goodbye To A World" by Porter Robinson in a small game on Roblox called "Batting Day Remake" and chill, making some friends, etc. The game was fun. Then there was an update the audio update where nearly all audios were deleted, that song being one of them. Thus, a small game became abandoned. So, thank you Roblox, for killing one of my favorite games.

If I'm being honest, this is the first time I've been scared by Roblox themselves. This update caused the most chaos I've ever seen out of any game. This update ruined millions of games, made some impossible, and nearly destroyed the platform itself, YET THEY COULD'VE COMPLETELY AVOIDED IT!? They've probably lost more money with this update then they would've spent paying the lawsuit or just...I don't know...DELETING THE COPYRIGHTED AUDIO!? Everyone who works at Roblox is an idiot and it's official. There is no saving this corrupt company. This entire incident feels a lot like how chaotic the April fools hacking was. Just think about it. Roblox made an update that caused an outburst comparable to their largest hacking incident. That's concerning. I just hope they don't touch bee swarm simulator.

At one point, before 2022 in September or November, people could use audios freely, but people who were out of their group couldn’t hear the audios. It was patched since then, and before only you can hear it but now, no one can hear it at all.

This entire update ruined one of my favorite things to do in roblox, for hours on end I searched the audio library for cool songs and music to play on my boombox in the +20 plus games I had the gamepass in, and for hours on end I made a whole little booklet full of audio ids, roblox themselves chose the worst possible decision, they could’ve just sweeped the catalog for copyrighted material, but instead of that they chose the lazy option and privated everything

Copyrighters made the music, they have a right to take stuff down if it's making money off their music without their permission Roblox corporation is in the wrong here they shouldve just wiped the copyrighted audios. I'm pretty sure it also would've been possible to add a copyright check for people uploading to prevent the issue from coming up again but I don't know coding

you guys dont understand the gigantic problem this makes thousands of classic, old and important songs and sounds that were in the site are now forever lost... There are people searching for unknown songs and other types of audio media that could be easily found on roblox, but now, all the audios, from 2006-2007 till the day of removal, now no longer exist in the internet... the answer probably will be no, but someone knows if there is an archive of this audios, like the one they made for the myspace incident?
