Parents can't because that is the parent's job. Leave a kid unsupervised in a public park or even a mcdonald's play space. There is no physical way to ensure the kid is safe. It doesn't matter how many times you tell them "don't touch the red hot stove you will get burnt" they have a tendency to find things out the hard way because they literally can't think ahead of their actions, kids are impulsive and naïve. I think more of the education should be pushed onto the parents of the children. Parents should be checking their child's socials, games, everything as often as they can. Trust me, if you're a minor, YOU DO NOT want anything to do with adults who want something to do with minors... I went through something similar. I won't go into it but I was 15, he was my neighbor and he was 35. I had issues with my mom so I ran away with him. He then proceeded to abuse me in every way. He made me do things I didn't want to do. He made me experience things I was too young to experience. He made me feel things I had never felt and basically he ruined me. Before I had this excitement for life, this pure genuine happiness to just be alive and experiencing life. Now, I struggle to even leave my house. It's been 7 years but I still struggle so much. My family blames me still because they said it was my fault for going back to him but my brother was really mean to me too and my mother hit me and abused me as well so i was running back and fourth to him and to my family because I couldn't find peace anywhere. The police treated me like crap, they also blamed me. I was a dumb kid but they knew he was abusing me and they still treated us like we were on the same level, although I was 15 and he was 35. I still hold a lot of anger towards adults subconsciously even though I am an adult now because i felt like during that time no one was helping me. My older brother was mean to me, my mom hit me and was mean to me also, my neighbor who I thought was my friend ruined me, the police belittled me and left me with my abusers, I even had a teacher grab my thigh once.. I felt like all the adults in my life were out to get me. I still feel that way sometimes, like a scared young girl with no where to turn. I've thought and made plans to end my life, even recently. Do not be like me, if an adult is acting too friendly with you, pull away, and if you are being abused, speak to CPS. When I was at that age, my mom scared me and told me my life would be worse in CPS. It won't, as long as you speak up for yourself and tell CPS and any adult who you trust everything they've done that has harmed you. Sometimes when you're a kid, and you're unfortunate, you really do end up on your own, and you have to fight for yourself if that's the case. I wish you all the best life
