@@Daniel-wu6plthe lava damaged his legs, yes. But a thermal detonator encased in the upper torso would have completely destroyed much more of the droid. But this is what is known as “plot armor”. Or just poor writing.

... I thought the Mando's/Kuill(🎉Nick Nolte)'s IG-88 had already been blasted to really barely operable below Kuilllkterally raised him like child and taught him. "Programmed" it into its new operating personality. So it shouldn't even have the old bounty in it. Unless I don't remember something right.
