The Rock Cycle

We've spent quite some time discussing igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, and metamorphic rocks, their properties, and the conditions under which they form. Now it's time to zoom out and see how they are all connected in something called the rock cycle. This outlines the ways that each of these types of rock transforms into each of the others, and the situations under which this occurs.

Every now-and-then I'll collect a rock / stone because of its shape or texture etc., and always wonder how many millions, or more likely billions of years old it is, and the journey it has taken through such a vast amount of time to finally come to be in my hand. Its staggering to think my humble little collection will perhaps still be around to see our Sun die.

Stellium7 has a great tutorial on some stone being petrified organs like hearts small and large! He even shows how you can create a Ruby in your microwave! I found an 8lb stone heart in my backyard! Action adventure twins is another interesting channel that explores deep caverns in Georgia’s limestone and granite mountains! I wonder what would Professor D explain how there’s almost like tree rings type layers traveling downward some 400feet! So yes keep an eye out for more than just “rocks”… crystals are living minerals! Petrified hearts, kidneys livers lungs and even tree sap and pieces of wood! (Hangman128) the archivist shares many articles from early 1900s about larger trees even! Nature is Amazing! We take it all for granted! Look out for the two eclipses this month! they’ll create and x over Texas! I’m sure something news worthy will occur…:) keep collecting! And take a gander in your nearest lakeshore or river bed!

If a sedimentary rock melts, would it always go through metamorphic phase first? or it can just go straight to magma?

I think it always has to go through the metamorphic phase as it heats up, on it's way to melting. edit: I was going to compare this to solids going through a liquid phase as they heat up before becoming a gas, but sublimation is a thing, so maybe it is possible.

If it melt in turns into magma and when magma cools down and is exposed to erosion and weathering they immediately change ti igneous rock

It should first become a solid rock and can't jump to heat and pressure because that occurs when rocks are found deep into the earth's crust...sediment should under go when it farmed layers and harden over time to farm metamorphic rock❤
