Great video Marcos as always. Personally I would rather have my weak point at the leader rather than having 150m of braid left attached to a fish and eventually drifting in the sea. I would say that even a day as you had was better than a day at work. Even a fishless day is still better than a day at work! The sea, with it's beautiful sounds, smells, fresh air and everything thing else is medicine for the soul. Blessings from Israel

Hi Nigel! Thank you for your comment! 😊 I would never accept my weak point in the leader, since many of my target fish, like groupers need lots of tension to pull them away from the rock, and with a weak point in the leader, most groupers would end up lost 😁

Μας έχεις συνηθίσει αλήθεια είναι σε πολύ πολύ καλύτερες μέρες, αλλά όπως λέει και η παροιμία του χαρτοπαίκτη του ψαρά του κυνηγού το πιάτο δέκα φορές είναι αδειανό και μια φορά γεμάτο, τουλάχιστον αυτό συμβαίνει της περισσότερες φορές για εμάς, τώρα Μάρκο μπήκες και εσύ στο κλαμπ, χαχαχα 🤣 🤣 αν θυμάμαι καλά είχες άλλη μια παρόμοια πριν πολύ καιρό με τον Νέρι Καστίγιο, όμως όπως είπε και κάποιος άλλος φίλος είχες την τύχη για πολλές απελευθέρωσε, καλή και δημιουργική χρονιά να έχεις φίλε.

Φιλε μου Μαρκο τα βαθη μεχρι 20 μετρα τα ψαρευεις με το 30-100 και μεχρι 80 πλανους? και απο 20 μετρα+ πας με το 60/150 και 80-100 πλανους κυριως? Εγω που πηγαινω με το 60/150 και στα 15 μετρα και ριχνω 80αρηδες πλανους ειναι λαθος (μπορω και 60 να ριξω και ας μη τους παιζει τελεια) ? Θα ηταν πολυ λαθος να βαλεις το μηχανισμο του sgs6 (60/150) στο sgs2 (30/100) να ψαρεψεις ?

Φίλε Βασίλη η ερώτηση δεν έχει στάνταρ απάντηση. Το 30-100 ψαρεύει άνετα και στα 40 μέτρα με 100gr. To θέμα είναι η μορφολογία βυθού, τα ρέματα και τα ψάρια που στοχεύεις. Σε κακό βυθό με μαύρα ψάρια, ακόμα και στα 15 μέτρα θα πάρω το 60-150.

Its much better to just hold the spool when you have like 10m left on the reel, its almost always going to break by the leader and you get all your line back and the fish doesnt have to swim around with a few hundret meters of braid untill the hooks rust out. And by holding the spool you have a good chance of stopping the fish if it isnt a huge monster, also the water resistance is gonna put more pressure on the braid close the to leader because the fish has to pull your drag+ the water resistance of the braid so its almost always going to break at the leader knot, even with FG knots. Just a little tip, dont weaken the braid with sandpaper, just sit down and hold the spool, also make sure the spool on your reel is all the way down when you do it so you dont bend the main shaft 😄.

Hi dear Julian 🙂 Probably you are not aware that in shore jigging we usually use equally or stronger leaders than the braid because we want to have a greater abrasion resistance on the rocks. So this is one reason why your method doesn't work. Also it is common for many of us to add in the end of the spool some really light mono in order to break. Other reasons are: broken bails, broken rods, and other material problems. But the biggest reason you can't hold the spool is safety. Julian we stand many times on rocks with one leg in the air. It is not flat solid ground. On such environments holding down a spool in order to break a shore jigging PE#3.0 or 4.0 with a 0.60 or 0.70 leader (pe knot at these combos can provide up to 20-30kg power) will probably either push you in the water or at the breakage kick you back. I had incidents like these in the past and other guys got really hurt. So worldwide the most approved and safe way is the easy breakage of the braid with the less momentum as possible.

You should always take magnesium before fishing. If it continues, then you need training 😊

One question for you my man, when you go to a place like that how much time do you spend on each spot before you decide that it is not very active before you move to the next spot?

Hi Makis. The answer to this is pretty much complicated because it depends on many factors. It depends on the species we target and the conditions we face. For example if we target targets and groupers but the currents are very strong, then I move to another area protected from the currents. If I target amberjacks or bonitos and there is not a single sign of baitfish like sardines, boga etc, then this is another reason that push me to change spot. However if conditions are correct and no strikes occur, is only making me fish harder until i get that strike.

Hi Markos Vidalis, i really like all your videos, they are awesome...I have one question, when I am as always shore jigging i use your needle jig and i dont know if it is better to use two assist hooks on the head only or also one treble on the end...i have read that trebles have a better hook up but you might lose your fish faster...so i dont now if it is right that i always replace other lures which have trebles with assist hooks. Should i leave on other lures trebles on the end or replace them with assist hooks...with which method will i catch more and have a better percentage of goodly hooked up fish Greetings from Slovenia

Hi Tai! Just one or two assist hooks on the head of needle jig are enough! Do not add in the tail as it affects directly the action

I have had days where I waded to an island at low tide, fished for 10 hours without catching a fish, before wading back to the mainland at the next low tide. It can be frustrating, but still a beautiful day. When fishing snaggy water or where I may get spooled by a tuna, I use a leader that's weaker than my braid, so it should break instead of the braid.
