I wish you’d talk about pro wrestling more uncle chael! Like you, the WWE/WWF in general isn’t something I really enjoy now as an adult but I can through nostalgia. I was a super young child during the attitude era and the beginning of the ruthless aggression era so I roughly can remember the things you would mention and I always find these topics interesting because I feels like I understand more what it means to promote a show every time you discuss wrestling versus when you discuss MMA.

They could've alleviated a lot of the predictable backlash had they had Dwayne win the Rumble, even without a longer buildup. The decision to randomly insert Dwayne into the mix when he never competed in the match might be one of the worst creative bookings ever. It effectively makes the Rumble winner spot meaningless.

The worst creative decision is to have Cody win the Rumble Back to Back while Knowing The Rock was around the corner weeks earlier. The Rock should’ve been the one to win The Rumble. Period.

I agree but I also don't think it doesn't make complete sense. Rock injecting himself into the main event and then WWE acknowledging his Board of Directors role essentially tells the audience that the general rules of competitors don't apply to Rock since he has that authority now: it's the perfect heel move. Rock winning the Rumble would've made sense if WWE didn't acknowledge his authority and treated him just like another wrestler competing for the championship

Everyone about to get on board with this real talk era/new attitude era. This goes to show how much influence ufc has on the entertainment business right now not just the sports world. Conor literally stole the trash talk fans from WWE and brought them to ufc. Attitude era was by far best television on mondays and Thursday nights ever. This new Netflix deal is going to allow them to control just how raw they want the material to be. Which is why right after triple H foreshadowed the new era they immediately went into using foul language to bring that attitude an realness back. It was by far the best Segway/segment to build up to that new era. The beeping out the curse words is mad annoying though they gata do sumthen bout that until 2025 if they gana let them cook.
