Great little machine. For those wondering: I have a small coffee shop with two of these running. They handle heavy traffic when needed and I have the flexibility to turn one off during slow times. I have had my coffee shop for 3 years now. I will upgrade to a Boxer sometime soon but the Two Apts are doing fantastic.

Great video, I have an 8 year old Giotto Evo HX and love it. The temp probe was a game changer for me. My cooling flush was just until the gargling stopped but found this was still around 96C which was too hot for my beans.

Well, you sure convinced me. I have only had my Gaggia Classic Pro for three months and I'm already over the frustration of it. Whole Latte love has a sale on these right now and I'm taking advantage of it. It's not much of a sale but it's a little something off the large price of this machine. Thanks a bunch for for your excellent review and comparison of these two machines.

Three months ago I moved from the Gaggia Classic (with added PID) to the Bezzera BZ10 in the same price range as the Appartamento I had exactly the same observations in my upgrade. Also upgraded my grinder from the Mazzer Mini to the Ceado E37S, and I must agree that the grinder is the more critical component.

Did you find that when you first started using the Appartamento that it had a hot metal odor and taste from through the group head and steam wand? I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and unless i run a lot of water through the group or wand before use, there is this almost "campfire" taste that comes through. I spoke to Seattle Coffee Gear and their "technician" said this is residue from the manufacturing process and that I should continue to run water through it and it will dissipate. Did you experience any of this?

I think when people are asking "does it make great espresso/milk drinks?" it's actually more proper to ask "do you know how to make great espresso/milk drinks?". A good machine makes the experience smoother and easier, by, in my opinion, mostly providing stability. The temperature, pressure, and water dispense are more stable and predictable. And at the end of the day, if you enjoy making coffee with it, I think it's always a worth it. I myself have a Gaggia classic(not even the pro version), and I'm loving it! Great reviews btw.

@@itsxris btw, I'd agree with you that the Gaggia classic indeed has quite a learning curve. The machine came in factory setting a 13bar default brewing pressure. I had to tune that down to a 6. To get the best steam power I have to run the steam until the boiler kicks in again. It's been fun though, and the results quite rewarding. Yeah, it's definitely important to join the community and learn more about your machine and develop better routines. Cheers

Interesting review, can you compare with a rocket dual boiler machine
@Matt18001
@Matt18001 3 жыл бұрын
I can answer this for you. For home use making 1 or 2 drinks at a time or even 4 or 5 you won't see much of a difference other than the dual boiler being slightly more temperature stable due to the PID. The dual boiler machine allows you to be very consistent over 10+ drinks in a row which is definitely not a requirement of the typical home user. The more reasonable upgrade in the rocket machines is either of their "chronometro" machines which offer the PID, and have variants for a rotary pump (quieter and can be plumbed into a water line), while not having the price tag of the dual boiler machine. Hope this helps.

My experience with the Breville Dual Boiler, love it when it worked, but while still under warranty I had to send in for repair, unable to perform de-scale function, machine would get really hot and trip GFI outlet, started leaking, etc. Continued to trip GFI outlet after repair, still unable to de-scale, machine starting shutting down while using. Called Breville for repair and was told since it was out of warranty it would be $500.00 for repair. Look around at reviews, Amazon, Williams Sonoma, Seattle Coffee Gear and you will see all the same complaints. Breville really should have stood behind their Dual Boiler that obviously had a design defect. I decided $500.00 was a better investment into a new machine that wasn't made in China.

Just curious isn’t the Profitec Pro 500 PID Espresso Machine the better buy with PID? Love the rocket but I keep reading about PID.

That’s a lot of money for a heat exchanger machine. For the Aparttamento’s price, the Rancilio Silvia Pro is a way better buy and makes better coffee with a dual boiler and PID setup giving much better temperature consistency. Then, upgrade someday to a comparable but more luxury machine (if you feel necessary) like a Rocket R58 or an ultra luxury machine like a La Marzocco Linea Mini.

@postholedigger8726
@postholedigger8726 Жыл бұрын
When you factor in transportation costs, time spent standing in line, time spent looking for a seat (most of the seats are occupied by squatters with laptops), plus the product cost, Starbucks costs around $10.00 per visit. At 300 Vente Lattes per year, the cost is around $3000.00 per year. Over 10 years that comes to around $30,000.00. This makes the cost of a high end machine like a Rocket negligible. That aside, Starbucks Lattes always tasted like warmed over dishwater. When you make these drinks at home you have more control over the quality of the coffee, the brewing time and shot size giving you the flexibility to make it the way you want.

I chose the Rocket over the Mara X recently. With the 10% discount from Seattle Coffee Gear, it is close to the same price. I agree that the Lelit is the better value from what I have seen but which looks better on the countertop for the next 10 years? Also, when my friends ask, I would rather say it's a "Rocket" rather then it's a "Lelit". Childish I know.

@Matt18001 3 жыл бұрын
Baratzza sette 270 if you don't mind the loud noise. Niche zero. Anything else that's specifically an espresso grinder , if you're buying an apartamento I'm guessing you don't want a grinder worth more than the machine so I'll not mention the ultra high end options.
