Ronnie plays very well here, but not perfectly, and how he fixes those little errors will surprise you and make your day.

Found this sport just a month ago. Wow, what a journey I have had learning. Found Ronnie at the point of forever watching his past right now. What a player.

@@TheJohnCooperShow yes I did. 49 years old and have never heard of it. Not in American culture. Maybe a cult following. Americans are simple and hate soccer because it takes to long to score a goal. Snooker is just a chess game with balls. Takes too long to play. For me! Perfect. Thank my friend from Belgium to introduce this sport to me. No tables here for the game as I see in 100 miles. So regular pool will have to do.

@@welfe3572 I would agree. Don't worry, I am always behind in what is great. Did not get into cycling till after Lance was almost hung, Sebastián after his decline and all other sports. I just like what I like. I have a lot of youtube to go on Ronnie!

Ronnie is simply a genius of snooker, been watching him for years and in the 1st frames he's working it all out how the game will go, he never rushes the 1st frame win or loose it more often than not he's sussed it out by the 2nd frame. I see Milkins playing too fast here and Ronnie makes adjustments better than anyone. Chances are he will beat you in every department even in engine mode.

Because they call for the straightest cueing. Most players prefer some angle.

Given that it’s Ronnie I think he may have experienced a “kick”, which is a strange contact that is still up for debate, with chalk on the ball a common scapegoat. All of these shots are missable though. The pro’s are just so good though that they look like they cannot miss at times. Trust me, it’s a very hard game.
@SimonAyersPool
@SimonAyersPool Жыл бұрын
I don’t think it was specifically because it was a straight shot. It looks like he cued across the shot because he was overstretching and couldn’t get his body aligned properly.

This kind of stuff really makes me understand why in pool they call it "English" when a player applies spin to the ball. I don't know if that's actually true though.
@colincolenso
@colincolenso Жыл бұрын
The derivation of English was actually due to an Englishman touring the US using a new tip that enabled the use of spin. If I recall rightly, it was him using a leather tip, instead of a wooden tip, and predated the use of chalk, which allowed more English (spin) to be imparted on the Cue Ball.

9:13 how do you work out the difference in angles?
@colincolenso
@colincolenso Жыл бұрын
That angle shot is common on snooker and US tables. Stun with outside English makes the Cue Ball travel off 2 rails and into about a 1/3 below the the center pocket. It makes in off almost impossible if enough side is used. All top players know this angle well, due to experience.
@mark-147
@mark-147 Жыл бұрын
@@colincolenso Thanks that's interesting, though I'm not sure how applicable that is considering difference in table size and ball size. I'm curious specifically how the difference in how far up the side cushion the ball hits, is calculated. Left hand side (English) is the natural side to send the ball around the angles. Perhaps it also helps avoid the blue too.
@trappenweisseguy27
@trappenweisseguy27 Жыл бұрын
At some point it boils down to experience along with knowledge of the “diamonds” inlaid in the cushions. I bet Ronnie has played 500,000 or more shots in his lifetime of practice and tournaments.
@CesarMuroya
@CesarMuroya Жыл бұрын
@Marky The message is that the more left side you apply, the lower the cue ball will be in contact with the left cushion. The green path (using no side) helps highlight that message, although it's just an estimate. Ronnie used a lot of left side to guarantee the cue ball finish on the right side of the brown.
@colincolenso
@colincolenso Жыл бұрын
@@mark-147 The table proportions are the same, 2:1 ration, approximately. Table size usually measured to the back of the cushions / rails as I understand. The angle routes work similar from 6'x3' to 12'x6', though ball sizes effect inertia a little.

He had some sort of bandage on it. I suppose he cut himself shaving. It started coming off, so they had to stop the session for 90 seconds for him to put a new one on.
