Hey Thomas, a friendly rules reminder: you cannot heal with two different heart cards in the same room. From the rulebook: "You may only use one health potion each turn, even if you pull two." That complicates the game quite a bit.

For the red face cards not being used maybe they can be used as the player’s class. The king could increase your weapon’s attack by +1. The queen could be used to increase your health cards by +1. The jack could allow the player to redraw 1 card from the room, and still play that room instead of skipping the whole room (only once per room). The ace could give you an additional 5 health if you are defeated by a monster, but then you would discard the ace’s ability for the rest of the game.

If you are finding this game too difficult, keep the 2 jokers in the deck, then use them as a parry attack card = they do not stack on your weapon and you do not take damage from the defeated monster

Is there a way to make this two-player? I was thinking of doubling the deck and health and allowing for 2 weapons at once. I played it this new way with 4 rooms and found it too easy. I bumped it to 5 rooms - still having to clear all but 1 room before adding more rooms - and it was very similar to the single-player version. I can't find anywheres online that supports the two-player variant. It's definitely my new favorite game!

The first idea that comes to my mind (which may not be the best option but is fairly simple), is just grab 2 decks of cards and make it a competitive dungeon crawler to see who can make it the furthest. To make it more of a co-op would involving changing the rules in some manner

10:44 "Playing a second potion in succession nullifies the effect of the second potion." Doesn't that apply here? Are you allowed to play both, the 2 and the 3 of hearts?

Good catch, that should've only healed me for 3. I missed the rule about using only 1 potion per turn

Probably! I've never attempted it but I imagine it should play mostly the same, though some rules might need tweaked for balance reasons

@@boardgameswiththomas it can be a bit wonky at times but I tried it and it's not so bad, occasionally you get spammed with monsters or spammed with heals/weapons

Grab a deck of 52 cards, or a copy of Tabletop Simulator/any software able to emulate a table, a counter and a 52 cards deck, and follow the rules.
