This argument has been over for years. Yes nukes have down sides. They pale in comparison to fossil fuels. Yet the west with it's inability to escape endless useless futile debates has not only avoided new nukes it's been taking existing nukes offline regardless of expected lifespan. Yes we must build them. Under our current malaise do not expect new units other than the few in process and decades behind before 2040. China the world's favorite whipping boy not only building them they're building next generation units. Unimaginable to this old guy how US in particular has devolved into a cesspool of stupidity greed conspiracy mongering. Americans blissfully unaware of the consequences of spewing 51 billion tons of greenhouse gases pollution annually into our shared atmosphere.
