That’s a great instructional vid. I have a Pathos Roller and luckily they have a different way of loading so no load assist needed. Just unclip the rubber underneath, pull it to the first notch, turn it over and reconnect it underneath. But yours would be faster to load.

Great video Chris, but I beg to differ re the bracelet type load assist. I personally find this to be the best type mainly because it is attached to my wrist and doesn’t get lost. I have caught my buddies load assist floating away from them quite a few times. I must be lucky cos I got longer arms and can load 130 single rollers no problems! Whatever works for the individual I guess.

is the next video gonna be on bands for what size gun and shafts and what the best setups are for different size guns because right know i have a 120 single roller and a 120 double roller what size bands should I be running and what shafts because right know on my 120 single roller I'm running 16mm bands at 60cm and 35cm of pretension with load assist with a 7mm shaft lmk if thats a good set up or what I should using and for my double roller I'm running a 8mm shaft idk the bands but lmk what I should be running for load assist thanks
@CoatesmansSpearfishing4 жыл бұрын
Hey Kannon go have a look at the previous videos. Full pretension is the only way to go. My best setup for a 1200 is 65cm 16mm fully tensioned with a 7.5mm shaft.
@kannonallen57924 жыл бұрын
@@CoatesmansSpearfishing would that work with a 8mm shaft or with a 7mm
@CoatesmansSpearfishing4 жыл бұрын
8mm need a gun with enough buoyancy to carry its weight. Also an 8mm is a little bit slow with the single 16mm. 7mm shafts are faster than the 7.5mm but you have to watch the whip in the shaft if you put too much power.

What is the difference in performance between bushings and bearings? Also what is the difference between glass and ceramic bearings?
@CoatesmansSpearfishing4 жыл бұрын
Hey Gunnar, I will be coving that in future videos. But have a look at spearguns.blogspot.com/2016/02/unrolling-roller-rollergun-test-and.html I covered bearings in this test.

Thank you for sharing this knowledge with us man! I’m inspired to make the swap to rollers and keen to see your different preferences for different species in the next video! Here in Miami I’d love something for our wrecks when we target AP, permit, cubera, and large black grouper.

Kabir, Will definitely bear this in mind in the videos. Thanks. I did dive a few spots around Florida after the Blue Wild the one year, and remember thinking a 1100 roller would be perfect there.

Hi Chris seeing you had a cuttlefish barrel there, do you know the diameters of the vecta 2 handle? I'm getting a cuttlefish barrel with 26mm inner and 30mm outer diameter and would like to know if the vecta 2 handle will fit... any info would be greatly appreciated!
@CoatesmansSpearfishing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick The RA Vecta2 handle has a 26.5mm OD spigot with a 30mm ID shroud. So you will need to either bore out the barrel to 26.5mm or reduce the spigot. This is difficult as it is inside the shroud.

Hi Chris, Loving this series your doing. I know you might cover it in your next vid or vids but for 110 RA roller fully pre tentioned 16mm rubber for a 7.5mm shaft is 60cm adequate?
@CoatesmansSpearfishing4 жыл бұрын
60cm on a 110 should have 25kg on the muzzle, and 53kg on the notch 367% when loaded. Plenty Vooma

What about if instead of a load assist band it has one of those plastified loops of dyneema on the wishbone? Is it possible to pull the bands? Because it seems to be more practical than a load assist. One less thing to forget or to go wrong...
@danielbeau29913 жыл бұрын
You could but you would have to pull 25kg from the muzzle with 16mm bands.

Hey mate, great series. I used the info I found here to put together a 90cm, 14mm RA roller with a 6.75mm shaft and it performs really well. The only downside is that the gun is negatively buoyant without the shaft. Do you have any advice for me? I was thinking of trying to find some kind of adhesive cork strips or something else that is similarly buoyant. Cheers, Blair

Hey Chris, Thanks for doing this series of videos. I'm using a 100cm Freedivers roller with a 7mm shaft. Currently have a small-bore 16mm band @ 55cm with a built-in grab handle for load assist. It's very easy to load. What length would you recommend with a smaller bore rubber for this sized gun?
@CoatesmansSpearfishing4 жыл бұрын
55cm 16mm should not be easy to hand load. Are you loading the rubbers all the way to the luggs?

What’s your take on 14.5 mm small ID rubbers for a roller with a 7mm shaft?
@CoatesmansSpearfishing3 жыл бұрын
small ID rubbers dont add much to the equation. Making the hole in the middle smaller mostly just makes inserting wishbones more difficult. As long as it is not a large bore, std rubber is best. On guns 900-1100 14mm bands and a 7mm shaft is well balanced at around 370% stretch when loaded.
