It is always the mark of a great band when their live versions are as good or perhaps even better than their studio versions. The Rolling Stones are definitely such a band.

That version was actually from November 1969 at MSG. That clip was taken from the brilliant documentary on the Stones 1969 U.S tour, GIMME SHELTER. It was the Stones first tour after the death of Brian Jones. The Stones played 2 shows at MSG and the other show's rendition of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" was included on their legendary GET YER YA-YA'S OUT live album.

@tonray9395 Yep. The song was released in May 1968 so that's probably where the reference to that year comes from. Brian Jones was definitely still part of the Stones when that came out.

Loved when my parents played this song when I was a child! I was born in 1982, and we ALWAYS had music blaring through the home, not just on Saturday or Sunday mornings, but even on work and daycare or school days. My dad would get up first and start making breakfast for us all and we’d hear the music and know it was time to get up and get ready. No alarms necessary! It was ALWAYS a party in our house, every single morning.

@3:25 -- Referencing @3:23, Mick Jagger did not say "Yes, yes, yes." He said "Gas, gas, gas."

I think in this performance Mick does change the lyric to yes yes yes yes rather than gas gas gas

This says it's 1968 but Mick Taylor didn't join the Stones until 1969.

It refers to the release of the single in 68 but the performance Angela is asked to react to is the 69 live performance at MSG

The original studio version is the best. I was 11 when it was released.in ‘68. I really like the Stones from ‘65 to ‘72.

This is 1969 and not 1968.. and it is a clip from the Rolling Stones documentary movie "Gimme Shelter", which is an amazing movie that I have seen probably 100 times...however, it ends with the disastrous free concert at the Altamont Speedway where a young black man was stabbed to death by Hells Angels and you see it in the movie... someone got the bright idea to hire Hells Angels to provide "security" for the free concert just north of San Francisco that was supposed to the be the West Coast Woodstock...instead, this is the event that is often said was the death knell for the Flower Power Hippy movement... it is a mesmerizing movie from start to its tragic finish.... here's a clip from the movie of hippies at the concert at the height of Hippiness.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4e6c5atat9kea8

Good catch, Angela, yeah that groove was similar to "Satisfaction." For even more fun, you might enjoy a track called "Jumping Jack Flash/Youngblood," from The Concert For Bangladesh, back in 1971. Good old Madison Square Garden nearly jumped off its foundation and blew its roof off before that concert ended. That concert featured the jam band of the century; Leon Russell, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, the whole benefit was organized by George Harrison, and a countless list of other A list performers! This was great fun, thank you, as always 😇🤩🌹

I'll be checking them out in May at Aligiant Stadium in Vegas.My wife just scored tickets. It will be my 5th time seeing the Stones, My wife's and sons first time.

Yeah, the riff in this 1968 song kind of sounds like a variation of their 1965 "Satisfaction" riff, or at least there's one point where it has a similar chord progression.

Hi Ms. D., About 30 to 40 years ago, Mr. Mick was being interviewed by 60 Minutes, I think.. Mr. Mick was calm as he answered questions back stage.. He immediately went out onto the stage like he was shot out of a cannon and acted as if he had ants on him and they were biting.. I thought it was great.. ♠Mr.G..

I like his live delivery on this a few years later. "But it's alright....now, matter fact it's a gas. It's alright....now, Jumpin' Jack Flash is a gas gas gas." I guess that's like the recording, but it's done at the same pace as this version.

There's a movie with Whoopi Goldberg called jumpin Jack Flash. She has to study the words of this song and plays it over and over again. A fun watch.

Obviously they have a lot of material to choose from! My top 3 by them now is Ruby Tuesday, Angie and my favorite by them will always be Time Waits For No One! I hope you react to that song one day! The only thing about this live performane you played, he sang it without hitting those higher notes! I like the studio version better! Sorry, just being honest like you! See ya!

Mick and The Stones are a truly Living Legends, nevertheless Charlie Watts passed away some months ago. To see them performing this one in better sound, crowd reaction and footage, please check the "Rolling Stones Rock'Roll Circus", in London, December 1968, a film that it`s available ind DVD Format, so you`ll enjoyt more than this one, I promise. They were compared to the Beatles in the mid 1960’s…. Back then the comparison was spot on… The Beatles last recorded in 1969… The Stones released Beggars Banquet in 1968.. That was the record that changed the equation but by then The Beatles had already released Rubber Soul in 1965, Revolver in 1966 and Sargent Peppers in 1967.. PLUS the wild diversity of The White Album in 1968…

Great clip but it´s not from 1968. Mick Taylor on guitar joined the band in -69. Also very poor watching you having to check your phone in the middle of a live reaction. Big no-no.
