Have mercy, have mercy, baby Have mercy, have mercy on me Well I went to see the gypsy To have my fortune read She said, "man, your baby gonna leave you Her bags are packed up under the bed" That's right Have mercy, have mercy, baby Have mercy, have mercy on me But if you leave me baby Girl, if you put me down I'm gonna make it to the nearest river, child And jump overboard and drown That's right Have mercy, have mercy, baby Have mercy, have mercy on me I said hey, hey, baby, hey, hey, now What you tryin' to do? Huh Hey, hey baby, hey, hey now Please don't say we're through, yeah, yeah, yeah Have mercy, have mercy, baby Have mercy, have mercy on me But if you stay, baby I tell you what I'm gonna do I'm gonna work two jobs, seven days a week And bring my money home to you That's right Have mercy, please, have mercy, baby Have mercy, have mercy on me, yeah Have mercy, have mercy, baby Have mercy, have mercy on me

this version sounds more happy,cheery,campy, etc. they seemed to do different versions of lot's of there song's they performed. come to think about it. maybe they just loved to exspiriment with different ambient mood arrangement...

They should have released this version instead of the one we all know. This is the tightest interweaving guitars Brian Jones and Keith Richards ever did. The best part is when they trade solos at the break in the middle of the song. Other than that their guitar parts are so interlocked it's hard to tell who is playing what part. Outstanding guitar by the both of them.
@danielkroha54405 жыл бұрын
Agreed, outstanding guitar by both of them, but they don’t “trade solos”. Brian plays a scratchy rhythm guitar through the whole song while Keith plays all the single string stuff. Keith combines lead and rhythm on his part.

@@grantellis4631 9/12/21 I relistened to this just now & after the SHOCK wore off, yes, it is "my" Mick singing. I'm pretty sure they're all "lipsyncing" as was common for most pre-80s technology. This version is SO different from the EXCELLENT version chosen for the US album release - a much better choice in my opinion. Since 1964 ... this is the FIRST time hearing this alternate & most likely the UK version. Where I lived in the 60s, it was impossible to get "imports" & DJs couldn't/wouldnt play them on the radio until after "The Revolution" in 1967 with the usage of the FM band & the invention of "underground radio. " Oh - thank you for saying I'm NOT an idiot. Thank you for taking the time to EXPLAIN things instead of being a lazy ass & just writing one word without an explanation. I will now go to the link u posted. Thanks! PS: i can't believe I posted my original comment waaay back in 2019! WTH happened to time? ("Time Waits For No One")
