Charlie was incredible, but didn’t play on this version. It’s session man Andy White on drums here (of Love Me Do fame) as the backing track was produced by Jagger for the hit Chris Farlowe single. The lead vocal was a demo recording for Farlowe to sing to (or a later overdub). Charlie does play on the totally different Stones album version from Aftermath, alongside some very cool Marimba from Brian Jones. RIP both.

Oh my God, for the people complaining about the anachronostic use of the clearly superior 1975 version of this song in a movie set in 1969, what don't you get about the irony inherent in the fact the song is used "out of time" in the movie? No one in the movie is jamming out to the song diegetically. There's no continuity error. Did you complain about the David Bowie track used in Inglorious Basterds? Bowie wasn't even born when that movie is set. Tarantino's thought this all through. If the song works, it WORKS.

My childhood was very sheltered and I wasn't exposed to much popular music - only classical and the stuff my parents deemed acceptable for me to hear. Then in high school I rode a bus and the driver always had the top 40 on. So I heard "Out of Time" (the orchestral version) and that was probably my first serious dive into the Rolling Stones. I also heard "Angie," and being a guitar player I really loved it. Then when I graduated in 1976 I had a co-worker at 7-11 who was a serious Stones fan, she introduced me to the "It's Only Rock and Roll" album and from there there was no looking back.

The Stones weren't involved in this version at all. Their former producer, trying to milk as much as he could out of their back catalog, added Mick's demo vocals to this cover version of the song for the rarities collection "Matamorphosis". Still, it IS my favorite version of the song.

With the string arrangement this song is great, the aftermath/flowers version in my opinion was a bit weak, this feels magic

It's called psychedelic rock. It's the psychedelic version as if you were on acid like Cliff. They used to use similar backgrounds in back of the bands at rock concerts in the 60s. They did it with colored liquids on rounded glass lenses in front of projectors. Now they use computers to do it.

( not boasting ,but have met Mick Jagger twice when I was working at B Bros Wine Bar ( Now is a luxurious Car Show Room /Shop) in Cheyne Walk ,corner of Chelsea Embankment. Haven't really listened to the Mick Jagger written Stones version of this memorable 60's classic, only listened to the Chris Farlowe version, maybe Farlow just tips it for me as it brings back memories of seeing him live in the 60's.
