I’m glad you like my fathers work. He was all about the small sounds. Keep up on doing some videos of my dad. Stan Ricker

Yes, I was wondering how it compares to the early U.S. pressings as well. My Sterling pressing sounds pretty decent, but I've only compared it to a couple CD reissues.

Thanks Steve. Clearly you enjoyed making this video and had passion for the LP.

Thanks so much for watching. Yes. I love this album and I am having a ton of fun making these videos. I am very passionate about music and of course great sounding music on vinyl.

Hi Steve, We should by now be aware that half speed mastering is NOT magic that turns an LP into an audiophile experience. Miles Showell ..imagine if he was working with all analogue tapes ! Another great vid . thank you 👍

This is probably my favourite Stones album as well. I bought the abbey road half speed master a few months back and was just underwhelmed, the whole thing seemed flat and dull. I found an original UK pressing at my local second hand record store and bought it out of curiosity and wow am I glad I did, Charlie's drums sparkle and the bass gives the record this groove that was completely missing in the abbey road version. I enjoyed your video once again, keep them coming!

Thanks so much Paul. Yes. The Abbey Rd pressing just does not have the same punch as the MFSL. I’m sure your UK pressing sounds amazing.

Great video! Can’t recommend the Abbey Road half speed masters, very muddy and undynamic sounding. The Swedish 1978 press is actually excellent sounding, very dynamic with a nice analog feel to it. And it’s cheap!

Thanks for your review! I'm fortunate enough to own the MFSL version, so I appreciate knowing that it still stands up against more recent reissues. I'm curious to know how the MFSL compares with a UK first pressing.

I bought my used Mo-fi copy about 10 years ago for about $40! I wonder how an original copy from 78' compares to to Mofi or all three version. Nevertheless, it's a damn good album!

I unfortunately have do not have the Mofi version of this album. I wonder how it compares to the original US Presswell version?

For the life of me I cannot find my original Canadian pressing as I wanted to compare that one with these two.

Original copies go for fair money. I have a 1978 U.S. copy with the "Miss you" hype sticker. No need to seek out anything else.

So Steve, I guess it comes down to “Am I willing to pay for the price difference” as from your comparison the audio quality of both pressing is great
@stevewestman77742 жыл бұрын
Yes. MFSL sounds superior but do you want to buck up for that experience? Or go with the Abbey Rd pressing that sounds pretty damn good for the money.
@thomascars12 жыл бұрын
All honesty the original US/UK pressings are a great value for what you’re getting. The MOFI and the 1/2 speed dont have the cool sleeve and inner, and the “STERLING” stamped pressings sound incredible, all analog as well and still dirt cheap compared to their DECCA period. This is one of my favorite sounding albums in fact. Only problem is the vinyl, the MOFI and the 1/2 Speed have the advantage of being dead quiet compared to the original

Why not go for an original pressing to compare?

You and others always seem so bias against any digital copy of an album. And always give it a backhand compliant saying “ it’s good value for the $$$” and if you buy this version your not a true audio player

Left a pretty scathing review to Miles ( Not You) on your last Half Speed video...especially my 2 favorites Sticky Fingers and Exile which both sound Awful! Now to clarify....I now know Miles did not obtain the original Analog tapes and these were mixed digitally....which is the main reason for the poor sound. Where I take offense is the hype stickers on each "Finest Quality Vinyl Pressing"????? These obviously are FAR from it....just not a fan of this process and think it is snake oil on the many reissues I have purchased from Miles. One reissue that actually sounds very good is Goats Head Soup.....actually better than my US First Pressing. Although Giles Martin has his finger prints all over this pressing.....so go figure🤔🤔 Cheers!
