Great song. Music is personal, it's whatever raises the hairs on the back of your neck. There's so many amazing songs from great bands that don't make the radio, so only the biggest fans of that band know of them. Pearl jam "Tremor Christ". Blind melon "I wonder". Tom waits "Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis". Van Morrison "avalon of the heart", and "steal my heart away". If I could only have 1 song to take with me on a island I think it would be "into the mystic" by van the man Morrison. That's tough for me to say too, because I think every song pearl jam has written is great. I actually think Jane's addiction covers this song, and makes it their own, as well as the original, and I love the original.

Ya know sir, I couldn't disagree and couldn't agree with you any more. I too grew up rocking to the bad boys of rock n roll. I too have seen them live 5 times. And thats where I agree, few bands put on a show like the stones. But truth is, they're not exactly what I would interpret as being the most awesome talent. The lyrics are so easy to understand it's just a history lesson to me. Start from the beginning of time. Saying he's been around for many a long year. Not years. You have to get it from the beginning. Then he goes onto what's happened in history. When Jesus Christ was crucified. To the present. That's what this song is about.

I know. I remember hearing the lyrics as a child and interpreting them literally. When I realized it was a song about political and economic power I couldn't believe how stupid I had been.

I'm 15 and love this band. I first heard this song on Call Of Duty Black Ops, then I bought one of the Stones albums. I love the older generation's music. It's way better than most of the stuff that's out now

Ever heard about Sabaton? It's a very good metal band. If you dont like metal you should check out 'de Staat'. It's a Dutch rock band, but sings in English. I still agree most rap is shit though.

Lyrics are as deep and great as the music and performance ! Pay'em respect as only a group of very wise men are capable on all that: Please allow me to introduce myself I'm a man of wealth and taste I've been around for a long, long years Stole million man's soul an faith And I was 'round when Jesus Christ Had his moment of doubt and pain Made damn sure that Pilate Washed his hands and sealed his fate Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name But what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game Stuck around St. Petersburg When I saw it was a time for a change Killed Tsar and his ministers Anastasia screamed in vain I rode a tank Held a general's rank When the blitzkrieg raged And the bodies stank Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name, oh yeah Ah, what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game, oh yeah I watched with glee While your kings and queens Fought for ten decades For the gods they made I shouted out Who killed the Kennedys? When after all It was you and me Let me please introduce myself I'm a man of wealth and taste And I laid traps for troubadours Who get killed before they reached Bombay Pleased to meet you Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah But what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby Pleased to meet you Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah But what's confusing you Is just the nature of my game Just as every cop is a criminal And all the sinners saints As heads is tails Just call me Lucifer Cause I'm in need of some restraint So if you meet me Have some courtesy Have some sympathy, and some taste Use all your well-learned politeness Or I'll lay your soul to waste, mm yeah Pleased to meet you Hope you guessed my name, mm yeah But what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game, mm mean it, get down Woo, who Oh yeah, get on down Oh yeah Aah yeah Tell me baby, what's my name? Tell me honey, can ya guess my name? Tell me baby, what's my name? I tell you one time, you're to blame What's my name Tell me, baby, what's my name? Tell me, sweetie, what's my name?

@blindtoby Why? Satan's biggest tool is trying to convince people he doesn't exist. This song at least gets people to think about the evil existing in the world, if not the actual existence of Satan. You are at a greater danger if you pretend evil doesn't exist. Mick said this song was more about evil within mankind than Satan...it does force you to think about your own capacity for evil. And that is something they preach about in church every Sunday.

blindtoby Cant understand how someone can believe in god with all the contrasts in the bible.
@OrionBlastar8 жыл бұрын
They believe in The Devil like this song, but not God. The Bible has a hidden secret code in it when it was written. If you can't unlock the secrets hidden in the contrasts and other books, then you aren't very good with numerology either. God is the universe (omnipresent) and math and science, saying there is no God is like saying the universe, math, and science don't exist that they are illusions.
