I really enjoy your videos for several reasons: 1) your positive, upbeat attitude and carefree disposition about the weather. 2) your awareness of, and inclusion of, your surroundings and the context that you verbalize as a result. 3) your research and love of local history. 4) the natural , unassuming way that you give commentary as if you are chatting with a friend. 5) your generosity with the landowners. 6) your love of nature and the video clips thereof that you include in your "movies." Your channel shines because you do, and of the many detecting channels that I watch I look at yours first! Keep up the good work and Les from Indiana, USA, wishes you the best of health and happy hunting. Good luck, too.

Do like that you enjoy the whole outdoor experience along with your detecting. Here in Canada I enjoy harvesting fiddleheads ( young curled up shoots of wild ostrich ferns )in the Spring. They are so good and healthy my family and I crave them. Fabulous as a side dish they have similar taste to asparagus and are amazing in a soup 😄🇨🇦

Your videos are always so interesting and the history is great. I can remember those style sixpences and have probably got some in my fathers coin collection. He started it before the new coins came in. Happy detecting see you soon.

Well done on the lucky sixpence! 'Battleships' is a similar game - where would you take a break, a picnic - on the ridge in the sunshine, or shade under a tree. It really makes you think, the lay of the land... PS Wild garlic pesto is great too! 10.00 George V penny?

Great ideas! Sometimes I make wild garlic butter and freeze it in cubes for later in the year on a steak 🤩

these videos are great, thank you! i drove past a sign for the Roman Corinium museum yesterday on my way back home from Wales, wish I had time to stop off. I travelled up from Cirencester to Stow on the Wold and couldnt help thinking about the history buried in the fields all around me.

well done Ellie..yes we love blue sky and mild weather...it would be great for it to stay like that...but let's not be premature..we know what April could be like lol, i think (don't quote me on it) the full silver content stopped in either 1921...or 22...however some full silver coins slipped through...but yours is most probably 50% ! .. i look forward to your next travels on your permission, take care hun...GL&HH Gordon.

Ellie wonderful video and exceptional weather. The Roman coins are great but any coin is fun to find. You really need to be somewhat of an archaeologist to help search the area for the good sites to detect. Best wishes… John

50% silver after 1920 👍🏼
@dafyddiago7 ай бұрын
FYI.... Silver .500 In 1920, most British silver coins, the halfcrown, florin, and shilling, were debased to .500 fine, that is 50% silver, and 50% copper. Two denominations, the sixpence and threepence were struck in both alloys for 1920. All four maundy coins were still produced in sterling silver during 1920. From 1920 onwards, all British "silver" coins, with the exceptions noted above, were produced in .500 fine silver, that is 50% silver, alloyed with 50% copper, so that from 1921 to 1946 inclusive, they were all .500 fine. Pre 1947 Silver Coins 1947 Onwards From 1947 onwards, all the "silver" coins were reduced to being made in cupro-nickel, an alloy of copper and nickel. Interestingly, the maundy coins, which had been debased to .500 fine from 1921, were increased to sterling silver, and are still struck in this metal even today.

If you need help with ID of the coins just send me a clear picture of obverse and reverse for each. Email in my about.. Could well be box flue but looks like roof tile to me ..A larger piece would give it away as box flue is usually heavily combed, probably to help the mortar adhere.. You are welcome to join me iafter the havest I have some productive land in Kent Enjoyed all 3 videos . Keep going

Third roman coin its an altar not a building! Late roman coinsinfluevecef By early christen religion. As Konstantinopel ( now Istanbul) Become Main city 😜🔝❤️ Main city. Different way of making uploads, must be the Female touch. I like that! Very early Summerbird. Maybe a drone, would be practice Later. Grop marks is clearly visible In June/July plus signs of buildings Etc. Give sn idea
@miss_detectorist7 ай бұрын
Drone is a great thought - I have one but no idea how to use it yet. Learning as I go! I’m glad you like my films. I’m an artist in my day job so possibly a different way of looking at the search and the world! Thanks for the info on the coin! Will clean it up and get researching!
@stevechelt17 ай бұрын
@@miss_detectorist The drone idea made me think of satellite imagery using Google Earth, I use this when researching sites to look for crop marks etc. You need to install Google Earth on your PC, then zoom in to the area you want, next you click on the button for historical imagery (top bar, green arrow turning anti-clockwise next to the button with a sun), then you can click back through all the imagery they have. It's very useful as these images were taken at different times of year, so the lighting angle and dryness of the crops/ground varies.
