actually its the church that brought or helped bring along a a lot of technical advances thought the year. It was the monks who started higher education and the scientific method was created by a Catholic Priest. I could go on and on, but you get the point. the Catholic church has a lot.

Part 2 Galileo did not have enough evidence to show it was fact then he started to treat it as if it was fact. That was when the church intervened. Think about it, back then the only educated people were members of clergy and the rich. Galileo's stuff was being taught in colleges as theory, it was only when he was teaching it as fact without the evidence that the church stopped him. watch?v=nzohx5oim4w&feature=channel_page this user has other videos up from this same guy about history

Part 1 Actually the person considered to forerunner to creating the scientific method was Roger Bacon, a Franciscan. "Robert Grosseteste...bishop of Lincoln...has been called the first man ever to write down a complete set of steps for performing a scientific experiment." How the Catholic Church built western civilization, by Frank Wood Go to NewAdvent (dot) org to and look up Schools, University. The Church did not appose Galileo. The church told Galileo that he could teach as a theory.

"These group of seminarians are a real melting pot, coming from Colorado, Wisconsin & Tennessee..." I thought when you say melting pot it meant from different countries, belonging to different nationalities.
